Though it was astaggering start for abrilliant idea by our seniors , we now take

pride in coining and creating the first magazine

,Mosaic, for our department . The fact that this hap-

pened during our last days in college chains this maga-

zine closer to our hearts. The journey has been a learning

experience for the entire team and also brought our creative

selves out during the design phase. Every page you now read is a

product of hours of experimenting over numerous ideas and cre-

ativity. This wouldnt have been possible if not for the dedication

of every member of our team to toil for few hours for the maga-

zine each and every day . A special thanks to our faculty members

for continuous support and monitoring until the end.It was their

support that kick started this idea an year ago .We also thank

our Principal and Vice Principal for giving us valuable sug-

gestions about our work .We are also grateful to our HOD

for supporting us in this journey. We,the Mosaic team

want to acknowledge every person who contrib-

uted to this magazine in some or the other

way and we wish to see this legacy

    continue in the coming

    years too.

    Dear Friends and Students,

Wish you a very wonderful day!Over the years, the educational system has transformed tre-mendously. The opportunities have increased, challengeshave increased, processes have transformed, and the meansand technologies have changed. I feel that very few stu-dents are serious in preparing themselves for the changedexpectations and requirements. The key to success lies in fo-cus and a mission in ones life. Both are lacking in todaysgeneration with so many avenues for scattering their focus.Take initiative; be responsible, disciplined and expressive, the best fortune would unfold for you. I wish each one ofyou great success and joy in your eternal sojourn.

Im delighted to know that the stu-

dents of Computer science and en-

    gineering branch have taken ini-

tiative to start a magazine of their

    own to express themselves.This be-

    ginning should lead to continuous

    sharing of information and ideas

and should also lead to a change

in the attitude of student partici-

pation in the process of learning.

Computing is an age old busi-

ness and now that the machines

are asked to do it ,one shouldnt

miss the basic concept of comput-

ing and keeping that in mind, a

    computer student should nev-

    er think of core,non-core etc.

    Computing is central to each

    and every activity of mankind.

I wish ,keeping in view of this, the

students of CSE will take manymore steps in establishing a com-

puting club as their next endeavour.

I understand that the students of Computer

    Science Engineering together contemplating to

bring out departmental annual magazine. A

cursory look at the contents being proposed

    undoubtedly make prospective reading more

exciting and thought provoking. I congratu-

late them for inviting articles from staff and

students along with the articles on core learn-

ing being reected on emerging trends in theeld of computer science. Evidently the edito-

rial team putting tremendous work in sourc-

ing and organizing the material which largely

aimed at providing basic inputs on the require-

ments of holistic development of the students

academic and professional outlook. I congrat-

ulate the team and wish them every success.

After a sleepless night, I woke up early in themorning not knowing what to do and whereto go. I started taking a walk on the beachroad, set against a beautiful background ofthe sunrise. The sky lled with hues of or-ange and red, I walked among the milling crowd onthe beach, with my mind wandering, my heart lledwith low spirits. In short, I was frustrated with mymonotonous life and the recent things I had heard. My sauntering legs took me to a5-year old, selling balloons. My meandering mind sud-denly stopped thinking and I stopped involuntari-ly after seeing him. The innocence on his face andthe sweetness in his voice brought a smile on mytensed face and urged me to buy a balloon thoughI had crossed the age of playing with balloons. The smileon his face, after selling a balloon, erased my mind ofall listless, distressed thoughts. I asked him what madehim to start his business so early in the morning. Witha smile, he replied that he hadnt had his dinner lastnight which deprived him of his sleep and hence startedhis business to earn a good meal for himself towardsthe end of the day. I went numb but managed a pat onhis head, wished him a good day and he strolled off. With a heavy heart, I advanced mysteps, though aimlessly and came across a childrenpark. The cheerful chatter and the sounds of laugh-ter relieved my mind. I went ahead and gave the bal-loon to a child sitting nearby wearing tattered clothesand a nger in her mouth. On being asked why shewasnt playing with the other kids, she looked at agroup of children being led to school by their parentsand she replied she was an orphan. This increased myagony and decided not to talk to anyone that day. I walked to a lonely place on thebeach road and sat on the bench, my mind afresh withthe latest encounters I had. I watched the sun shin-ing brighter and turned my face away from the sun-light. I then observed the people around me...childrenin school uniforms being led to school by their par-ents, teenagers on their way to colleges with brighterfaces and silly chatter, beggars begging on the pave-ment, trafc police with keen eyes, pedestrians ontheir way to work, rich men and women inside cars, shopkeepers raising the shutters of their shops etc.

I wondered how everyone wasinvolved in their work. I wondered how the poorsuffered. I wondered how the boy selling balloonssmiled after the suffering he underwent the previ-ous night. I wondered how the girl in the childrenspark could take the pain of losing her parents atsuch a tender age. I wondered if the saying, Its the hope that keeps the universe going hadany relevance to the present day life. The futureseemed bleak to me. I lost hope and in my despair, started thinking what was it that kept me going.

I then realized that I had no shortage offood at home and never ever was deprived of basicnecessities of life and had never slept on an emp-ty stomach. I realized I was always sheathed andtaken care of by my loving parents. I realized thatI didnt even know the cost of the balloon till datethough I had spent almost everyday of my childhoodplaying with balloon. I realized that there was nostrong reason for me to sit gloomily in a lonely place.

I then realized that the whole future layin front of me with new opportunities to be seized, new experiences to be experienced and new mem-ories that would form to be cherished in future.

I could experience a new ray of hope thatfound its way through my veins and nerves and bloodowed my body. All the old sayings embedded in

my brain came out rushing like the waves of ocean. I remembered the famous say-ing by a great philosopher, Arise, awakeand stop not till the goal is achieved.

I remembered the line from mydaily prayers, Where there is despair, there ishope. Where there is darkness, there is light.

I remembered the old quote What matters isto add life to your years and not years to your life

Just then, I received a forwarded messageon my mobile He who makes the best use of thingsaround him is the happiest person in the world

I got up from the bench to seethe view of the beach and found the Sun sink-ing behind the hills to come up again after a few

hours with a new ray of light, a new ray of hope.

    Isit riveted to my

seat in the moving car.Ahuge frown spreads acrossmy face as a racket of horns en-

gulf me.To add to my frustration, themobiles in the car keep ringing almost al-

ways and theres a hubbub of speech while themelodious song on the radio sinks amidst all the noise.

I sigh wondering how it would be if there were no honkinghorns, pestering mobiles and incessant talking. Well, who am i

kidding? But just for the sake of it ,give it a thought. The peace that we can in-dulge ourselves in with the absence of noise. In fact we did live in such seren-ity just a few decades back when there were lesser people, lesser vehicles andofcourse almost no mobiles and yet we managed to survive quite well.

What changed then? Technology of course ,but do the pros really outweighthe cons?

In the long run I personally feel there would be a lopsided balance betweenthe pros and cons of technology with the cons on the heavier side of the bal-

ance.Even without all this rampant technology we managed to travel efciently,-contact our loved ones effectively and mobiles ,if affordable ,had only onepurpose-communication.The current scenario displays the mobile as an entirelydifferent entity meant for stature, gaming, pictures etc-everything other thantalking,in fact its appalling that no talking takes place even when people are ina group as each one of them is engrossed in checking out their cool apps. Socool that you ignore the person right next to you? I dont think so.

Now the other weight ,trafc and noise. A day on our roads can make a per-son develop a migraine in no time ,other effects being frustration and loss ofmental peace. The only place one can have a pleasant driving experience wouldmost probably be a village!

It is so ironic that one needs to plan a holiday and leave town to nd peaceand distance themselves from the external pressures. So we are at the top ofthe ecological pyramid, the most intelligent beings and so technologically ad-vanced that we cant nd peace among our own species .Sad.

    Whatcanchange toget ourselves into

a safer zone? Obvi-ously We cant abandon allthe technology and live undera rock ,that would be stupid at thispoint. But we can surely help ourselves byswitching on our patient and wiser mode.Patient because the incessant honking of horns andall the resulting noise are nothing but the reections ofour impatience. We are in an unnecessary hurry to reach our

destination or we are just insane and imagine our bumpy Indianroads as race tracks and want to overtake everyone! Let go of thisattitude and everyone can have a pleasant driving experience.Wise because we are letting go of the very purpose that mobiles were cre-ated for in the rst place-communication. Its time we think wiser and usemobiles for what theyre meant to be used.If this is unfair,we should at leaststrive to use them on a 80-20 principle. 80% for contacting long lost, far offloved ones or informing our where abouts to parents, friends etc and 20% forentertaining ourselves with apps, games, surng etc when we are bored and

lazy to get ourselves off the couch to get our recreation. By doing this inproportion we are being fair to ourselves and also to the hefty price we paidfor the cool mobile. How much ever we love technology and chatting ,none of us can deny thepleasure of a long walk with a friend talking our hearts out rather than tex-ting the same! Neither can we deny the unexplainable happiness we get driv-ing on a deserted road and the only thing you can hear is the sound of windon your face. Absolute bliss, isnt it? So why not strive for it?All that is needed is refrain from getting addicted to the excess usage of

mobiles and a bit of patience and consideration while driving.Do this and whoknows ,peace might just be a breath away!

Cloud Computing is a technology that uses the internet and central remote

servers to maintain data and applications. It allows consumers and business-

es to use applications without installation and access their personal les at any

computer with internet access. This technology allows for much more ef-

cient computing by centralizing storage, memory, processing and bandwidth.

A simple example of cloud computing is Yahoo email, Gmail, or Hot-

mail. All you need is just an internet connection and you can start send-

ing emails. The server and email management software is all on the cloud

(internet) and is totally managed by the cloud service provider like Yahoo, Goo-

gle etc. The consumer gets to use the software alone and enjoy the benets.

Cloud Computing has brought together a range of technologies that

can deliver scalable tailored and virtualized IT resources and applica-

tions over the internet.Users access cloud computing using networked cli-

ent devices, such as desktop computers, laptops, tablets and smart phones.

Cloud computing is broken down intothree segments: application stor-

    age and connectivity. Each seg-

ment serves a different purpose and

    offers different products for business-

es and individuals around the world.

In June 2011, a study conducted by

Version One found that 91% of senior

    IT professionals actually dont know

what cloud computing is and two-thirds of senior nance professionals

are clear by the concept, highlighting

the young nature of the technology.

    Types of Cloud Computing:

    Cloud Computing has brought to-

gether a range of technologies that

can deliver scalable tailored and vir-

    tualized IT resources and applications

over the internet. There are 3 main

types of cloud computing which are:

    Software as a service (Saas)

    Platform as a service (PaaS)

    Infrastructure as a service (IaaS)

Cloud clients:Users access cloud computing using networked client devices, such as desktop com-

puters, laptops, tablets and smart phones. Some of these devices - cloud clients - rely

on cloud computing for all or a majority of their applications so as to be essentially

useless without it. Examples are thin clients and the browser-based Chrome book.

Many cloud applications do not require specic software on the client and instead use

a web browser to interact with the cloud application. With Ajax and HTML5 these Web

user interfaces can achieve a similar or even better look and feel as native applica-tions. Some cloud applications, however, support specic client software dedicated

to these applications (e.g., virtual desktop clients and most email clients). Some

legacy applications (line of business applications that until now have been prevalent

in thin client Windows computing) are delivered via a screen-sharing technology.

The origin of he lyrics o Rain rain go away is said o dae back o he reign ofQueen Elizabeh I (1533-1603), one of he English Tudor monarchs. Duringhis period of English hisory here was consan rivalry beween Spainand England culminaing in he launch of he Spanish Armada in 1588.The Spanish Armada consised of many Spanish galleons and was seno invade England. The Armada was led by Duke of Medina Sedoniaand he flee numbered over 130 ships. The English flee, under

The roots of the story, or poem, of Jack and Jill arein France. Jack and Jill referred to are said to beKing Louis XVI who was beheaded (lost his crown) and his

queen Marie Antoinette (who came tumbling after) duringthe French Revolution. But the small town of Kilmersdon, En-

gland proudly claims (to the point they make it a tourist attrac-tion) that the poem is about a couple in 1697 who used to sneak

up the hill for some alone time. The story goes that the woman gotpregnant, the man died from a falling rock, and then the woman died in

childbirth, thus resulting in one of the most depressing nursery rhymes...

Voila! Stepped into Engineering as if in a trance to con-quer the 4 years.

Oh yes, we rejoiced and ruled the first year.

Little did we know we were in for a huge blow.

Those double hours of theory classes which feel likedrudgery,

Those 3 hours of slogging in labs and pulling hairs overrecords ,

Those ravenous waits for lunch breaks and that whiningat 4pm to stop the lectures.

And then, like birds set free, we see everyone runningamuck near the buses ,

Those never ending bus journeys ,the only place wherewere free from the dangling ID cards and can sleep likelogs,

Just when were on the verge of relaxing after a fewmonths ,then come the externals ,

Ironic as it seems, the outputs we get in the regular labsessions but not in the exam. Strange eh ? ,

The semester exams where everyone becomes a prolificauthor of ones own paper,

Before we relish our unloaded backs, then come the results, those scores which always take us by surprise ,

Like scars that fade away ,we forget and move along tothe next semester, to take bigger blows but with new hopes;-)

Have you ever imagined obtaining your required information or data through your glass-es?? Have you ever seen people capturing an image or recording a video using their glass-es?? What if you could operate a computer system with only voice commands with no actu-

al machine to be seen around?? It would be amazing to see people using only a pair of glasses forvarious technological things. Google has come up with a wonderful idea of making the glass-es as a means for performing different activities. The use of a wearable device: GOOGLE GLASS.

Google Glass is a wearable computer with an optical head-mounted display (OHMD) that is being developed

by Google in the Project Glass research and development project, Google Glass displays information in a smart-phone-like hands-free format that can communicate with the Internet via natural language voice commands.

Google Glass looks and ts similar to a pair of reading glasses. The small glass display sits inthe top right corner of the frame to stay out of your line of sight. Google glass displays informationjust like a smartphone would although this device is completely hands free. You can simply com-municate with the internet through the sound of your own voice. When the device nds the an -swer, it communicates the information to you in a slightly different way than a phone does. Insteadof going through the ear to the brain like a traditional cell phone does it uses the bones in your ear.

Google Glass has a camera, mini projector, Data storage, sensor, and manipulation device combine it

together. Also the glass can transmit the information to the lens, and allows users to send and re-ceive messages through voice control.Google Glass is a prototype for an augmented reality, head-up display developed by GoogleX lab slated to run on Android operating system. Augmented reality involves technologythat augments the real world with a virtual component.

    Voice activation:

Other than the touchpad, Google Glass can be controlled using voice actions. To activate Glass, wearers tilt their heads 30 upward (which can be alteredfor preference) or tap the touchpad, and say O.K., Glass. Once Glass is activat-ed, wearers can say an action, such as Take a picture, Record a video, Goo-

gle, What year was Wikipedia founded?, Send a message to John. The voiceresponse is relayed using bone conduction through a transducer that sits be-side the ear, thereby rendering the sound almost inaudible to other people.

Glass is designed to be lightweight and as unobtrusive as possible. The frame will come with adjust-able pads for comfort, and is expected to be both light and extremely robust. It will also have a touch-pad along one arm for silent interaction. If you already wear glasses, dont worry. Google is trialing several different designs that will enableGlass to be attached to existing frames. There is also the possibility of designer prescription glasses

with Glass functionality built in.At the moment Google Glass comes in ve colours: Charcoal, Tangerine, Shale, Cotton and Sky.

Using Glasss translation ability to turn that list from marketing speak to plain English, thatsblack, orange, grey, white and blue. Consumer versions of the product could offer a differ-

    ent palette.

Google Glass can benefit us by acting as a personal assistant which means,

instead of a keyboard conversation, it will be more of a natural conversa-

    tion.

Displays information in Smartphone-like format, which is com-

    pletely hands-free.

It can interact with the Internet via voice commands and

receives data through Wi-Fi, which is perfect for people

    who have their hands full.

Possibility of misusing the video andcamera

Consumers concern about the cost of the glass-

es($1,500- $3,000), the track pad, social interactions,

privacy and recording issues, and more.

The losers of Googles hi-tech product in society are the

99%, cell phone companies (Smartphone and Android), iPadsand tablets with AR, GPS navigation systems, glasses/contact com-

panies, laptops and computers, video games.

    PROS

    CONS

Through the Google Glass the entire world and the information wouldpresent be before our eyes, only thing required is our voice. In future it maycreate wonders in technological eld.

    RESOL

    UTIONSAboutAll

? It is a known and accepted fact that New Year and resolu-tions go hand in hand. So this 2014, lets get to know whatresolutions were made. If the immediate

Next in my list was my neighbour lakshmiji who is a mother of two. When I questionedher about her resolution, she said, I guess it must be to see that my children keep

    their resolutions.

Spoken like a true mom, I chuckled. You should think out of your role as a mom,try to think more as individual, having your own thoughts. She cut into my excitedlecture and said, Well I have resolved that I will consciously make plastic bags, mugsor plates. I dont want to use paper too much as it will add garbage. Bravo!!! a noble resolution indeed! I cheered her. As for me, I have resolved to keep down my anger outbursts.

When I said this to my sister and friends, they laughed and said, You and resolutionabout angry outbursts hahaha.I was taken back and strictly determined to resolve this issue. So what I should fnally do is to take this one month time and try to control myanger.

So to all of you who have been worrying about those resolutions, I suggest, even ifyou cant make, keep or break your resolutions, what you can do is to keep them exi-ble, dont give up on them altogether. So, gelatos here I come!!!

question is, as to whether these resolutions were made to keep or break- well, wait untilthe end of the year for another survey!!! When I asked my cousin Aditya, a typical software engineer, about his New Year reso-lution, he said, Resolution? Ive been so busy that I could not even think of what resolu-

tion to make. After a beat, he quipped, My resolution should be to make a resolution! Well I must say engineers do seem to have a way with words!!!When I asked my uncle, he said, I have resolved to spend more time with my family.Bogged down by erratic timings and late hours, he told me his resolution with vehemence.Knowing him, I asked without batting my eyelids, Defne early! To which came a reply

that was more subdued than vehement, Hmm, 6:30, or max, between 7:30 and 8.

Spoken like a true workaholic, I responded and got a shrug and a wink in response.

    BetterApproachTo

    MobileAdhocNetworks

B.A.T.M.A.N. was developed as an alternative to OLSR. The assumption is that traditional routing algo-

rithms actually do not work well in mobile ad-hoc networks because of link quality fluctuations, frequentnew or lost links, etc. When the routing protocol finds a (optimal) route, it can become suboptimal aftersome time. Many routing protocols do not immediately react to topology changes which makes theminefficient.B.A.T.M.A.N. provides a new approach for the route discovery that can considered somewhere betweenthe ideas of AODV and OLSR. All nodes periodically broadcast so called Originator Messages (OGM)that contain the nodes address, a sequence number, and a TTL. The tuple source address and se-quence number makes the packet identifiable and enables duplicate detection. When a nodes receives

an OGM it updates its routing table that mainly contains the following information:

Originator address: source address of the sender of the OGM

Current sequence number: sequence number of the last OGM

Used to detect duplicates and outdated information

Sliding windows: one sliding window list of sequence numbers is stored for each originator

and each previous hop, i.e., neighbor that forwarded or originated the OGM

The receiver of the OGM will then decrease the TTL and forwarded it to its neighbours. When the same

OGM arrives over different paths at a node, all but the first copy will be dropped. Bidirectional links are

detected by overhearing the forwarding of the nodes OGMs by their neighbors.

nodes must obtain an IP address from somewhere before joining the mesh, and the protocol is tied to IPv4.The BATMAN-adv protocol found in the Linux kernel has changed a few things to get around these problems, making it a rather more flexible solution. BATMAN-adv works entirely at the link layer, exchanging non-UDP OGMs directly with neighboring nodes. The routing table is maintained within a special virtual networkdevice, which makes all nodes on the mesh appear to be directly connected via that virtual interface. Thusthe system can join the mesh before it has a network address, and any protocol can be run over the mesh.

The protocol trims OGMs which are obviously not of interest - those which describe a route which is knownto be worse than others, for example - but the OGM traffic will still be significant if the mesh gets large.

The sliding windows are used to determinethe next best hop for each destination. Thenumber of entries in the windows is evaluatedand the neighbor from which the most OGMsarrived from the destination is selected. The original BATMAN protocol uses UDPfor the OGM messages. That design al-

lows routing to be handled with the nor-mal kernel routing tables, but it also im-poses a couple of unfortunate constraints:

des-namtab:based on des-batman but uses the inversed link metric as specifiedbelow

des-satman:based on des-batman but uses 3-way-OGMs as specified below

    Deviations from theInternet-Draft:

    Host Network Announcement(HMA):The des-batman im-

plementation currently pro-vides no gateways to othernetworks as it is out of ourfocus.

Packet IDis an modificationto avoid looping data packets

as only OGMs have normallya sequence number. In some first

experiments we noticed that while the

loop detection of OGMs works, data packetsbegan to loop at some point.

3-way-OGMsare an optional feature where OGMs that are received by node B from node A are onlyforwarded, after a packet has been sent from B to A and was then acknowledged by A.

Precursor List Modeis an option where OGMs are evaluated even when the sequence number ofa received OGM is equal to the last sequence number in the routing table. This modification was im-plemented to optimize the protocol for multiple-transceiver devices: when two nodes are connected by

multiple interfaces over multiple links, only the OGM that arrived first was used to update the slidingwindows. To still be able to detect loops when the sequence number is not higher, a list of precursors,i.e., nodes that forwarded the OGM is contained in the header. This is the same approach as in DSRwhere the path is accumulated.

Inversed link metricis an option where each node adds additional information to its OGMs. For

each link the number of received OGMs is advertised so that the neighbors can determine the linkquality. This way the links quality is determined in the the inversed direction compared to default

B.A.T.M.A.N. but in the direction that the data packets will eventuall flow. Especially in networks withmany asymmetric or unidirectional links, the routing will be improbed. The option additionally allows tomake better use of unidirectional links.

Te wool industry was critical to the countrys economy rom the Middle Ages until thenineteenth century so it is thereore not surprising that it is celebrated in the Baa Baa BlackSheep Nursery Rhyme. An historical connection or this rhyme has been suggested - apolitical satire said to reer to the Plantagenet King Edward I (the Master) and theexport tax imposed in Britain in 1275 in which the English Customs Statute autho-rised the king to collect a tax on all exports o wool in every port in the country. But our urther research indicates another possible connection o this Nurs-

ery rhyme to English history relating to King Edward II (1307-1327). Tebest wool in Europe was produced in England but the cloth workers romFlanders, Bruges and Lille were better skilled in the complex finishingtrades such as dying and ulling (cleansing, shrinking, and thicken-ing the cloth). King Edward II encouraged Flemmish weavers andcloth dyers to improve the quality o the final English products.

The beautiful words of Twinkle twinkle littlestar have been immortalised in the poem andmusic has been added thus increasing its popularity.

The simile like a diamond in the sky teaches childrenhow words can be used to paint a picture in the imagina-

tion. The words create a comparison between the twinklingof the star to a sparkling diamond thus providing a perfect il-

lustration of clever imagery and excellent use of the English lan-guage. The joint authors of Twinkle twinkle little star were two

sisters called Ann Taylor (1782-1866) and Jane Taylor (1783-1824).

    Baa Baa Black Sheep

One for the master, one for the dame,And one for the little boy who lives down the lane

    No Ones Child

    I

stare up at the cloudy sky. No star gazing tonight, no moonlit sky.So I stare into the empty, hollow, darkness which very politely stares back

at me. The boy from the tea shop round the corner slept in today say-ing it was too cold outside. So I am left all alone to entertain myself andthink of something to put me off to sleep. My thoughts keep drifting tonothing in particular. I think of the people I met today. An interesting va-riety. A ten year old boy looked at my torn shirt and asked his mother ifhe could give me his jacket. She conveniently said there was no need at all

and walked away in her three-inch heels. Arrogance due to large amount ofwealth acquired in a short span of time,I thought to myself. My next inter-esting victim owned a Mercedes. Atleast, she sat in one. I put on my sameinnocent face and approched her. . On seeing me she very conveniently rolledup her window with her manicured hands. Her nails reminded me of one ofthe ladies at a foster house I had stayed in for a month. Born in a goldencradle, showered with a credit card without any credit limit at the age offourteen and not even knowing how to fold her t-shirt! Good mother shewould make! Next were a couple of teenagers on a bike. Something I proba-

bly would have been doing right now had I lost my family twelve years ago.Tired and exhausted in the hot sun, I went and sat in the shade of a treein the corner of the road. Few minutes into some mindless thoughts, I wasinterrupted by a sophisticated male voice. I looked up to see the man whohad given me a hundred rupee note two days back, some lunch the day be-fore. He was holding a similar lunch bag today also. I had thanked him forthe lunch and greedily ate it up. There were people like these also. Filthyrich, and a hint of humanity at the same time. A rare combination. And alittle bit of hope,I thought to myself.

HOPE.........its funny how the entire life of a personcan revolve around this four-letter word. The hope of a 24 year old boy tofinally be something, someday. The hope of a prisoner to break free someday. The hope of a saint to attain salvation. The hope of a mother to get herspoilt teenager on the right track.......I lived on the hope to find my familysomeday.

FAMILY.........another eight-letter word controlling most lucky peopleslives. Sadly, it had controlled mine for barely seven years. I hoped to find myfamily someday to ask them why they hadnt come looking for me. A ques-tion that has been eating me since forever. My thoughts drift to the last memories I had of my family...those with mytwo brothers-the only ones I had pleasant memories with in the family. Itwas bangalore. We had gone for a holiday and were attending a carnival onone last day of the holiday.I remember playing with them and going off to sleep since I was soo tired. The next thing I knew was that I got up in the morning in the same place- it was being cleared up. I knew no one around me. No sign of my familyanywhere. So there I was, stuck in this strange place with strange faces allaround me....

Since then,Id been looking for my family everywhere, All in vain.At one point, ending my life seemed like the best thing to do.That was when an NGOpicked me up and put me into a foster care for peaople at risk, like me. Itried to find home in every house I was put into, a mother in every womanI came across. For seven years, I put up with the feelings of loneliness, beingthe outcast, the different one, the homeless. But as days went by in the foster care I started seeing things in a new lightand I realised that I was not alone in this. There were many more like me but

with hope and happiness. I found a new life and a new FAMILY,related notby blood but by a mutual HOPE to achieve our dreams. The thought of endingmy life which felt like solace before now strikes me as a losers choice coz wedont lose when we dont win ,we lose when we give up.

Never quit on your life. Hope is a goodthing, even in the deepest of troubles.

To laugh is to risk appearing a fool!To weep is to risk appearing sentimental! To reach out of another is to risk involvement! To express feelings is to risk rejection! To place your dreams before the crowd is to risk ridicule! To love is to risk not being loved inturn! To go forward in the face of overwhelming odds is to riskfailure! But risks must be taken because the greatest hazard oflife is-to risk nothing! You may avoid suffering and sorrow but you cannot learn,-feel,grow,change or love!
