Hello Classmates,
This was our 8th quinquennial class reunion, and yes, we still are finding enthusiastic classmates to be on the reunion committee and attendees of the events. And as a result, we keep having better and better events. Since so many people in our class work the Pumpkin Festival we decided to have it after the PF so it wouldn’t get in the way of our reunion. Once again, there were some classmates who had never attended any of our reunions before this one and a few who hadn’t been to one in many years. Several of those people told us they had a great time and are looking forward to the next one.
Of course, we all had a wonderful time seeing each other, joking around, updating one another
about life’s journeys, and crying just a bit when we got the bits of bad news such as the passing of a few more of our classmates. But by and large, the time went far too quickly with not enough time to spend with everyone and catch up on everything. And of course…We really miss you guys that didn’t make it!
The committee was a wonderful mix of experience and new enthusiasm. We all worked hard to
make this happen and can’t wait to start planning the 45th ! Well, in 2016 we now have over 120 Facebook group members, This is great for us, because it
allows us to message everyone for upcoming events and if something important comes along that we think everyone would like to know, we can pass that along easily. It’s also good, because more and more people are giving up their land line phones and are just using cell phones. That’s great, but it makes it a little harder to find people because cell phones are virtually all unlisted in the phone book, and not generally available on the internet as either. Also, many of you change your email addresses – sometimes without choice, like when Insight and Verizon left town for example. But your Facebook account probably won’t ever change, and face it, many people check their Facebook account more often than they do their email! The point is that we, the reunion committee, would like you to keep in mind that the hardest part of our job is finding out where everyone is every five years. Please help us out and keep us informed if you move or somehow make it hard to find you! If there is anything we can do better at the next reunion, please “give us a shout,” or at least send an email or Facebook message!

For me, there was much to do in keeping up with the househoid and all the paperwork., insurance, etc. His battle ended sooner than expected on 8-27-16 as he was ushered into heaven into the presence of his Lord and Savior. We will miss John greatly but know he is rejoicing in heaven free from pain and disability. My sons are a great help to me and one will now be living with me for several months. I went to Drury University in Springfield, MO, where I played tennis for them and graduated with a Business Administration degree. I loved my time at Drury and still do, as I am currently serving on its board of trustees. After leaving Drury, various jobs took me to Memphis, Dallas, NYC, and the Washington, DC area, where I have lived since 1997. I also have homes in Milton, DE, and in Baltimore, MD which I share with my partner Sally, who I have been with for 10 years. For 19 years, I was a bank regulator with the OCC, but I left to help start the company, Promontory Interfinancial Network, where I serve as Chief Risk Officer.
I am active in my church in DE, St. Georges Episcopal Church. In addition, I love to travel, having been to numerous places throughout the U.S. and outside of it, including England, France, Italy, Czech Republic, Belgium, Ireland, Wales, Netherlands, South Africa, Mexico, and Canada. I also love to visit art museums and attend the theatre, and hiking either the coastal/country paths or within the cities. My other love is of books, movies, and music. My life is richer due to the arts, which frequently move me to tears. It is also richer due to my family, friends, and church.
Two experiences particularly shaped who I am today. The first was participating in a volunteer mission trip to South Africa shortly after apartheid was lifted. The three weeks I spent there, working on Joseph’s Project and interacting with people who had lived through apartheid, were life-changing.
The second experience was the five years I spent living in NYC and particularly my involvement with my Episcopal church. I worshipped with all walks of life there. Rich/middle income/poor, white/black/Hispanic, mentally healthy/mentally unwell, straight/gay/transgendered, American citizens/illegals, homeless/comfortably housed, old/young. During this time, I also was responsible for coordinating the volunteers who stay at the church’s 360 days-a-year homeless shelter, and I spent the night there at least once a month myself. I learned so much about others, but know I have a long ways to go. One thing I do know for sure, though, is that I am exceedingly blessed.
