Function: A dinner will be held at the Civic Recreational Centre on Sunday 5th February at

6.30pm. Function details will be advised closer to the event.

Conditions

Tournament Referee: Neil Montfort. Tournament Director: Max Coulthard

1. The Championships will be conducted in accordance with TTA and ITTF Regulations and the current Laws of table tennis.

2. Eligibility: All players must be financial members of Table Tennis Australia. (declaration signed and returned to your State Association for verification)

3. All Australian players are required to be registered in the highest category of their State Membership. Other competitors must be registered members of an Association affiliated with ITTF. Entrants in Swish Events A18 and A19 need to be registered members of Vision Australia.

4. Matches will be the best of 5 games. However, some may be best of 3 at the discretion of the organisers.

5. Any player failing to appear when scheduled to play is liable to disqualification by the Referee. Draws will be posted on the notice board. Players will be notified of changes to their time of play via the notice board. All events will be timed. Each player will receive a draw at the opening ceremony advising the times and exact table number – players will be required to be at the table ready to play at the designated time. All players will be issued individual names- these MUST be worn for ALL matches unless you have a player name on your shirt.

6. Each match will be controlled by an umpire, whose decision shall be final on any point of fact. The Referee’s decision shall be final on any point of law.

7. White Plastic Nittaku balls will be used for all events. The main colour of a shirt, skirt or shorts must not be white. Stiga Expert Roller blue tables and Cornilleau blue tables will be used during the championships. For wheelchair events Cornilleau Tables & nets will be used.

8. Players participate at their own risk. No injury claims will be recognised. Players with pre-existing medical condition and the medication appropriate for the Organising Committee to be aware of when entering.

9. ITTF Regulations for clothing will be enforced. The Referee MUST approve any non-compliance with any aspect of the clothing regulations prior to the Championship commencing. Players should be neatly dressed, and not wear any clothing, which might cause offence or bring the game into disrepute. Nominated doubles pairs from the same association should be dressed uniformly.

10. No gluing or re gluing of rackets is permitted in the playing venue.

11. A Management Committee will be appointed and carry out functions in terms of TTA Regulations. One of these functions is to consider any appeals against rulings of the host organisation or the referee on a question or tournament conduct not covered in the Laws.

12. The Organising Committee may cancel or combine events if insufficient entries are received.

13. Requirements for awarding medallions – 2 entries are required to hold an event and only one medallion (Gold) will be awarded. For 3-6 entries 1st and 2nd awarded (Gold & Silver).

7 or more entries are required for Bronze medals to be awarded to losing semi-finalists.

14. This event will be subject to filming and photography by participants, coaches and other approved persons. Participants (parents/guardians of players under age 18) give consent for the entrant to be filmed of photographed during the championships.

15. ANTI-DOPING:

Please be advised that this event is subject to drug testing in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) and the World Anti-Doping Authority (WADA) regulations. Table Tennis Australia would like to refer all competitors and their coaches to the following websites which have the relevant information relating to anti-doping including the option to check any substance, as well as the ASADA e-Learning Level 1 and Level 2 Anti-Doping Courses:

Classification Information

What is Classification? Classification is an assessment process, which allows us to group athletes

whose impairment causes similar limitations in a particular sport in order to allow for meaningful

competition.

Classification requirements for the 2017 Australian National Para Table Tennis Championships

Athletes with a Physical Impairment (Classes 1-10) are required to hold an eligible classification

with a Sport Class Status of National Review (NR) or National Confirmed (NC) by the close of entries.

Athletes without a classification, or who hold a National Review (NR), or a Provisional (PrR) status

classification may enter, however will be required to attend Physical Impairment Athlete Evaluation at the competition to be eligible to compete.

Athletes with an Intellectual Impairment (Class 11) are required to hold an eligible Sport Inclusion Australia classification with a Sport Class Status of National Review (NR) or National Confirmed (NC)

by the close of entries. Provisional (PrR) status classifications will not be eligible for entry. No

classification will be offered at this event. Athletes must be a member of Sport Inclusion Australia to compete in this event. To arrange a classification please contact Sport Inclusion Australia by

Athletes with a Hearing Impairment are required to hold an eligible Deaf Sports classification by the

close of entries. Athletes must be a member of Deaf Sport Australia (DSA). To arrange a classification

All Athletes in Classes 1-11 are advised to check whether they have been formally classified prior

to entering into the event. Refer to the Table Tennis Australia Classification master list at

Table Tennis Australia will determine which athletes are required to attend classification according to the Australian master list for Table Tennis.

Athletes with a physical impairment in classes 1-10 who are

- provisional (PrR), - national review (NR) status, will also be seen by the classification panel.

Classification Information

All Athletes that require classification will be scheduled for an assessment on 3rd February 2017

and athletes who are scheduled must be available from the beginning of the classification period.

Athletes will be notified of the schedule via email (as provided on the entry form) no later than 1

week prior to the event.

Athletes must meet the Minimal Disability Criteria as defined by the ITTF Classification Rules to be eligible to compete at this event. If an athlete does not meet minimal eligibility during the

classification evaluation period, they will be allowed to compete in the rounds but will not be eligible

for finals or medals.

If an athlete disagrees with the final classification decision, the athlete will compete at the Nationals

under the classification results determined by the National classification panel at this event.

What happens during a National classification evaluation?

Classification generally includes the following steps:

Medical Assessment Assessment of impairment Athletes will be asked questions about their impairment and will be required to perform physical tests.

Technical assessment Assessment of event specific skills.

As required, athletes will be asked to perform specific skills that are specific to their sport eg: demonstrating a forehand

Competition Assessment Observation and assessment of sports specific movement in competition

As required, classifiers will observe athletes in competition

Athletes should refer to the Preparing for Classification document that will be provided with the

classification schedule for full details of what to expect and what to bring to classification.

• Prior to being seen by the classification panel, athletes will be required to read and sign an

Athlete Evaluation Consent Form.

• Athletes are advised to bring an athlete representative to classification (parent, coach or other). This is a requirement for athletes under 18 years.

Classification Information

Medical documentation requirements for athletes with a physical impairment selected to attend

classification evaluation (physical Impairment) at the event

• All athletes attending classification (except those with an obvious limb deficiency) will

need to bring a letter or report from a specialist (e.g neurologist, orthopedic or spinal

specialist) stating their diagnosis, and the physical signs. This letter should not be more

than 5 years old.

• ALL athletes under 18 with short stature (Achondroplasia or other conditions causing short

stature) must present with a letter from their treating specialist (endocrinologist, pediatric rehabilitation consultant or orthopedic specialist) outlining the details of their diagnosis

and an estimated likely terminal height (ie height as an adult). Documentation must

include a brief rationale for their estimation of this height, and predicted growth curves

compared to norms.
