Moreh is a town located on the India-Myanmar border in the Tengnoupal district of Manipur. Moreh plays a very important role in connection with the Indo-Myanmar relationship and is also a rapidly developing trade point in India on the border with Myanmar. Kangla: A visit to the Kangla at the heart of Imphal city unfolds the proud history of the erstwhile Asiatic Kingdom dating back to 33 A.D. The British took over in 1891 and buried their influence in architecture. Today, Kangla is developed into a unique archeological and heritage park. Shaheed Minar: This tall Minar is erected in memory of the indomitable spirit of the patriotic Meitei and tribal martyrs who sacrificed their lives while fighting against the British in 1891. It is located at the Bir Tikendrajit Park in the heart of Imphal city. Ima Market: The Ima Market counted as one of the largest only women market in Asia is at a stone’s throw distance from the Western Gate of Kangla. It is a unique all women’s market, with over 3000 “Imas” (mothers) running the stalls. Men are not allowed to sell goods at this market. Vegetables, fruits, fishes and household groceries are sold in one section and exquisite handlooms and household tools in the other. Imphal War Cemetery: The War Cemeteries in Imphal commemorates the memories of the British and Indian soldiers who died during the World War II. These War Cemeteries are managed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Manipur State Museum: This interesting Museum near the Polo Ground, has a fairly good collection and display of Manipur’s tribal heritage and a collection of portraits of Manipur’s former rulers. Particularly interesting are the costumes, arms & ammunitions, relics and historical documents on display. Nupi Lal Memorial Complex: The complex is a tribute to the courageous Manipuri women, who sacrificed their lives fighting for justice against the British on 12 th December, 1939. LOCAL TOUR AND SIGHT-SEEING COMMITTEE

As a part of the congress, it is also our privileged to serve esteemed guest delegates to showcase

some of the tourist sites of Manipur. For this, we have selected few sites from five Districts of Manipur and we propose four different tour packages on payment basis that can be avail by delegates on first come first basis for limited arrangements. Except for the first day, on each day of the Congress, we will be providing two options of tour packages from which the delegates can choose and booked at least 24 hours ahead of the tour. The tour package will include food (Local Veg Cuisine), transport, entry fees and some other convenience fees. Trained student volunteers will also be inducted as tourist guides. TOURIST SITES

▼Loktak LakeFor any visitor, the principal attraction of the state is the Loktak Lake in Bishnupur District which is 48kms from Imphal City and

it is the largest fresh water lake in the North-East India. It is a beautiful stretch of water resembling a miniature inland sea. A day spent at Loktak Lake is a lifetime of memory. Visitors can catch a bird’s eye view of the lake from Sendra.

▼Keibul Lamjao National Park: The only floating National Park in the world, the Keibul Lamjao National Park located on the Loktak Lake is the last natural habitat of the “Sangai” the

dancing deer of Manipur. ▼INA Memorial at Moirang: This place has a special importance in the history of India’s Freedom Struggle. It was at Moirang that the flag of the Indian National Army was first unfurled on April 14, 1944. The INA Museum which has

a collection of letters, photographs, badges of ranks and other war memorabilia reminds the visitors of the noble sacrifices made by the INA soldiers under the charismatic leadership of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

▼Red Hills (Maibam Lokpaching): Red Hill in Bishnupur District of Manipur, is a hillock about 16 kilometers away from Imphal on the Tiddim Road. It is a site where the British and Japanese soldiers

fought a fierce battle during World War-II. ▼Khongjom War Memorial: Khongjom War Memorial is located at about 36 kilometers from Imphal on the Indo-Myanmar road. It was here that Major General Paona Brajabashi, one of the great warriors of Manipur proved his valor against the superior might of the invading British Army in 1891. A war memorial has been constructed atop Kheba hill.

▼Kakching Garden at Uyok Ching : A beautiful artificial garden on the way to Moreh, it has many exotic native flowers, herbs, orchids, etc. and is a must-visit for any domestic or foreign tourist.

▼MMRC & Unity park is a Multipurpose, multi-dimensional research centre as well as a tourist recreation park located at Khangabok village near NH-39.
