Mission and Vision
• Premier Physicians Insurance Company, a risk retention group, was created by women’s care specialist Dr. Warren Volker, MD, PHD to provide a physician-owned alternative for medical malpractice liability insurance.
• Premier Physicians utilizes Active Risk Management and Claims Control measures, limiting a physician’s exposure and providing a stable, long term solution.
• Premier Physicians provides solutions tailored to the specific needs of our physicians, whatever their medical specialty. By insuring only the highest quality doctors our stability and the physician’s coverage is assured.
Reinsurance and Underwriting
• Premier Physicians is reinsured by Lloyd’s of London, providing protection against catastrophic losses while also protecting the company’s surpluses.
• Our Underwriting department provides you with the most competitive rate possible while maintaining responsible underwriting integrity.
• Artificially low rates do not stabilize your coverage.
On the contrary, irresponsible underwriting simply leads to
unjustified future increases and a diluted surplus pool.
Risk Management and Claims Response
• Our locally based and professionally trained staff will work with your practice to implement policies to reduce your risk.
• A policy holder has constant and direct access to our Director of
Claims and Risk Management.
Arbitration
• A well-run arbitration program can be expected to result in a substantial reduction in indemnity payments as compared with those in the jury system.
• Arbitration results in much less costly resolutions by eliminating most of the unnecessary proceedings, appearances and paperwork associated with jury trials. In this way, arbitration benefits both the physician and the patient.
Ownership
Premier Physicians has both Class-A (Voting) and Class-B (Common, Non-voting) stock.
Class A stock is purchased by policy holders who wish to invest in Premier Physicians. As with any company, stock value is determined by the annual returns of the company.
Class B stock is automatically provided to all stock holders as part of their Premier Physicians policy and vests after three years.
There is no joint and several liability exposure for the members of Premier Physicians. As a member, your liability extends only to the amount of your premium and stock ownership.
