Due to the intensive focus on Literacy and Numeracy through Explicit Direct Instruction, Daily Reviews and other specific learning programs we have continued to be at or above expected levels in all of the test areas. The following graphs show specifically the School Means compared to predicted School Means. Our staff work very hard with the students at this school and we can see these positive results in both NAPLAN results and our own school based ACER PAT testing protocols. If you are interested in the progress of your child with our testing procedures, book in a time to review this with your child’s class teacher. PERSONAL ITEMS LISTS FOR 2020 Student Personal Items Lists for 2020 have been sent home and are also available on the ESPS web site. These lists indicate the individual items required for success in their next year level for 2020. You will notice that each list from Pre-primary to Year 6 has a requirement for a payment of $50 for each student for Literacy workbooks. These three Literacy workbooks will ensure the world class quality teaching continues into 2020 with spelling and reading books provided by the school at the child’s ability level. The school has also subsidised the cost by $18.85 to help parents provide this one off payment with the list. All students in these years, will be using these literacy books throughout the year to continue the fantastic programs in each class. Spelling Mastery, Reading Mastery, STARS and CARS are some of the great programs we have in this school which require these resources. GOOD STANDING AT ELLEN STIRLING PRIMARY SCHOOL The ESPS Good Standing Policy supports our Moral Purpose of providing a safe, enriched learning and teaching environment driven by high expectations for success. This policy emphasises the importance of students taking responsibility for the choices they make on a daily basis, which impacts academically and socially on themselves and others. It also provides acknowledgement for the majority of students who consistently behave and act according to Ellen Stirling Primary School Behavioural Policies and Expectations. Loss of ‘Good Standing’ by a student will result in that student being unable to attend extra-curricular activities outside of normal school hours, as well as special incursions and/or excursions during school hours. ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES OF STUDENTS EACH DAY It is fantastic to see that the majority of our ESPS students are in class and ready to work by the 8:45 am siren each day. This has certainly helped with the great achievement of students in Literacy and Numeracy. Unfortunately, we are now babysitting a huge number of students at the end of each day in the office due to parents or siblings running late each day. The office staff continue to have more than twenty students each day sitting in the office for up to 45 minutes waiting for their pickup. This is not sustainable and should not be occurring. The office staff have other business to attend to and should not be expected to babysit students at the end of the day. Please be organised and have procedures in place for your child to be picked up or to make their way home each day straight after the final siren of the day. Thank you. PE Corner FITNESS CLUB What a fantastic turn out, to our first before school fitness club! We were impressed to have so many of our students get up a little bit early to get in some exercise before school. We would love to see even more students attend in the coming weeks. LUNCH TIME BASKETBALL COMPETITION Our lunch time basketball competition got off to a great start. It is fantastic to see the students transfer their skills from PE lessons into the mini competition. ANNUAL DODGEBALL COMPETITION The eagerly awaited dodgeball competition will start in Week 6 for students in Years 3 – 6. Students are welcome to start organising their year level team of six. Sign up forms will be up on the pin up board outside of Block 4 at the beginning of Week 5.

Dear Parents and Families As we venture into the new term, I would like to introduce myself to you. My name is Sonika and I am the new coordinator at Camp Australia Ellen Stirling Primary School OSHC. I hope to continue the good relations that have been shared with you over the years. This month is the Mental Health month and we have several activities planned to acknowledge this, eg Stress Balls, Emotional Masks, Coloured Sand, Bubbles, Rainbow Marble Dying and much more. We are completing child profile maps, which are to be done on a termly basis. These maps allow us to set activities that interest your child. We always welcome parent’s input to deliver a quality service to the children and bring about improvements when required. Please let us know of any help you need for us to assist in your child’s homework or reading while they are attending a session at Camp Australia, we are more than happy to help out. Please remember, ‘No Hat, No Play’, wide brimmed hats are preferred. For more information about our program and fees at your school, visit our service and chat with Educators. Alternatively, you may visit our website at www.campaustralia.com.au or contact our friendly Customer Support Team on 1300 105 343 who are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – with exception of National Public Holidays. Thank you.
