R ED R OAD S TUDIOS Week 1: July 03 - 07 Locaon: 2829 Dallaire Ave, SW in Garrison GreenCamp A: Early Bird Gets the Worm – Technique Camp $100 Daily 7:00 - 8:30 am Designed for cellists working on Two, Three and Four Octave Scale and Arpeggios. We will study select Etudes to see bow technique sparkle! Camp B: $200 Ages 5-8 Daily 9:00 am - 1:00 pm July 7: Recital 12:00 am During this mini cello camp we will focus on creang accurate, clear, technique, develop and perform solos pieces in a masterclass seng, sight read, write music, and end our days with fun ensemble. Friendships blossom through these studies and while discovering creave elements on guided nature walks, short stretching sessions aimed at warming the body for cello playing, and unstructured play at one of the three playgrounds within a quick walking distance from Morags front door. Camp C: $200 Ages 8 - 17 Daily 1:30 pm - 5:30 pm July 7: Recital 4:30 pm Aſternoon musicians are offered appropriately more advanced ensemble work. Daily technique class features scale and arpeggio games as well as etudes. Students show and telltheir assigned well pracced music each day in masterclass. A large ensemble unifies the group, inspires the young, and teaches leadership skills to teens while separate teen and young ensembles ensure peer groups thrive. Camp D: $200 Ages 18 and above/Adult Daily 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm July 7: Recital 8:30 pm Lots of delicious chamber music and Laughs! Over the course of the week adults will learn chamber pieces while being instructed by Morag Northey in a masterclass seng. Breaks are made extra lovely as we pitch in to make a potluck table of treats. This camp will connue with early morning technical diligence, to include newcomers and also connue on from the first week of camp for those registered for both weeks (results are amazing!) Camp F: $400 Ages 08 - 17 Daily 9:00 am - 5:00 pm July 14: Recital 4:00 pm This camp is designed for intermediate to advanced players wishing to get a head start on the upcoming years technique and repertoire. Morag will meet with each student to design and help implement their plan. Each day students will work on scales and arpeggios with rhythm and bow games, aend an unaccompanied Bach class which includes focused memory work, as well as mini-lessons which end in a solo repertoire masterclass. There will also be improvisatory opportunies and creave work on extended techniques. Each day ends with small and large ensemble chamber music. There will be opportunies for gentle stretching and mind focusing exercises, nature walks, and our famous community meals! This is an excellent camp to begin work on new repertoire for the 2017/18 year. Camp G: $200 Ages 18 and above/Adult Daily 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm July 14: Recital 8:30 pm You will Love this aſter dinner camp which dishes out lots of delicious chamber music, learning and laughs. Over the week adult cellists learn chamber pieces under Morag Northeys instrucon. Many adults have connued with the second week of camp aſter experiencing the first so I create a very different week two program. I aim to elevate your playing technique basics such as rhythm, intonaon, tone clarity, arculaon, and expressive elements such as vibrato speed and width, dynamics, style, mbre and phrasing. Morags first cello lesson was with Judith Fraser at the Vancouver Academy of Music which lead to an Associate of Arts and Pedagogy and Performance Diploma at the Victoria Conservatory of Music and Camosun College; Toronto Professional Orchestral Training Program, numerous Masterclasses and Residencies (Nelsova, Parisot, Tsutsumi) at the Banff Centre, a Bachelor of Arts in Performance, University of Texas at Ausn with Phyllis Young, and a Masters in Performance from the University of Calgary where she also studied the Kodaly Method. Morag taught five years in the University of Texas at Ausns reknowned String Project and minored in Pedagogy at the University of Calgary with Tom Rolston. Morag teaches Masterclasses to very young thru adult students, and for over thirty years has maintained a large mul-level private studio. She taught at the Calgary Suzuki Talent Educaon Society, and is the cello teacher of Calgarys Mount Royal University, Early Childhood Cello Program. Morag conducts a series of unique, mul-age, mul- level String, Summer Camps and is the Director of the Good Vibraons Cello Choiran adult ensemble of cellists who want to posively help change the world – one good vibraon at a me!
