By Judy Holman What a month the club has had. Extremely busy! I was contacted by WATE-TV here in Knoxville about becoming a partner with them and other clubs and companies, to sponsor the Knoxville Man Show. The club came on board. As a part of our contract we would have ETM cars on display at the show and WATE would film a commercial for us. What an opportunity for us. The commercial was shot at Chilhowee Park the first Tuesday of June. We had a fantastic turn out of members and their cars. That Thursday we set up for the Man Show at the Jacobs Building. (thats the reason for cancelling the June meeting). A big thank you to club members Jim & Karen Burtner, Bill Hargis, David Derreberry, Russ Hatcher, George & Alline Hackett, Julia Pope, and Brent Ledgerwood for displaying their cars and manning our table. We had a lot of folks stopping by and inquiring about the club and our show. The following week Mike and I took off for a week at the beach. A much needed rest. Upon return- ing I went straight into car show mode. Picking up door prizes, t-shirts, and trophies, Ordered our dash plaques. My living/dining room only had a path way to walk through. A week before the show, I got a call from WATE again asking if I would like to promote our upcoming car show for there Living East Tennessee segment. Of course I said YES! So Mike and I drove my ‘69 Road Runner and ‘19 Hellcat Red Eye to their station. If you missed this, it was shown the Wednesday before the show, you can go to their website, WATE.com, click on their menu, then East Tennessee Living, scroll down and load moreuntil you see Gearing up for East Tennessee Mopars annual car show. WATE did a great job for us. A BIG THANK YOU to WATE-TV. At the May club meeting we set the calendar for the remainder of the year. Check the Calendar of Events for the updates. Our annual club picnic will again be held at Norris Dam State Park on Saturday, Au- gust 28. We will be at shelter #2 again. There is a playground for the kid s and a bathroom close by. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish or 2. We will be grill- ing hamburgers and hotdogs. There will be the Corn Hole Challenge. Start practicing now. It is important that you RSVP to Judy by August 25. Several ETM members attended the Marine Corp Car Show at the Parkway Drive In in Maryville. It was a beautiful day for a car show. Mike and I along with Jim & Ka- ren Burtner and Dan & Paddy Pizappi brought our Mopars. There were several Mo- pars in the show field along with ours for an open show. Awards went to Chevy s. We still had a good time. Ken Robbins attended the Fairview Church car show and won the Pastors Choice Award. Congratulations Ken. continued on page 2 …. On the Road Again continued... At the Marine Corp show, I was approached by a representative of the Morning Pointe Assisted Living fa-cility, and asked if several club members and their cars could attend their Open House for their residents and their families on June 17. Along with Mike and I with our Road Runner, was Bill Hargis with his Road Runner, David Derreberry with his Viper, and Brent Ledgerwood with his Plymouth. We had a great time talking with the residents and their families. The next newsletter will be the car show edition. If you were at our car show and took pictures, please send them for the newsletter, either a CD or email them to the club: [email protected].

What a busy month June has been. A really BIG thank you to all the members who were able to participate in our events. If you have attended a show or cruise-in re-cently, we’d love to hear about it. Get well wishes go out to Jim Hill. Surgery is scheduled in July. Also to Bobby Cochran, recovering from kidney stone surgery. Our deepest sympathy goes to Jim & Sandy Hill. Jim recently lost his brother. . *This is a reminder to all club members, when renewing your membership, please fill out a club applica-tion and send it with your money.
