A Strong Tourist Trade - Each year tourists flock to popular Mon Repos on the

coast of Bundaberg to see the largest concentration of nesting marine turtles on the

eastern Australian mainland. Mon Repos is renowned for having the most

significant loggerhead turtle nesting population in the South Pacific region.

The Great Barrier Reef (Southern end), lies parallel to Bundaberg. Here volcanic

action millions of years ago laid down an ideal bed for fringing coral reefs which

can be seen on fine calm days by snorkelling only metres from shore.

Tourist Statistics-

For the year ending June 2014, the Southern Great Barrier Reef region

(of which Bundaberg is a part) had attracted:

· $931 million in domestic overnight visitor expenditure and $81 million in

international visitor expenditure

China Towards 2016
