Mise en scene – The people in the documentary are wearing casual clothes signifying they prefer to paint in something comfortable. There are various settings as well such as on a roof, in a garden, in a workshop etc. This signifies that various painters like to paint at different places that help them concentrate and be free.

Camerawork – Most of the camerawork consists of talking head shots and establishing shots, as well as many cutaways. The beginning of the documentary has a close up of a man with a moonshine book which introduces us to the documentary. Hand held camera shots also follow people around when painting and take close ups of exploring the painters workshop. This makes the audience feel like they are walking around the paint shop. Long takes make the documentary feel more calm. Short takes of different people smiling at the camera introduce the audience to the next painter that the documentary is going to follow.

Sound – The non diegetic sound of a calm slow guitar being played makes the documentary more light hearted and signifies the tranquillity and passion that the painters have. Voiceovers from the interviewee’s can also be heard when cutaways are used which compliments the calm atmosphere that the documentary has, as well as being able to show the artists paintings whilst at the same time the diegetic sound of the artists talking about their passions can be heard.

Archive footage – Pictures of different images that have been created are shown on screen to the audience. This shows the different ways making paintings on a canvas and making them on a computer.

Graphics – There are no graphics used in this documentary, keeping it naturalistic which flows with the themes of art and being natural.
