From their college dorm at the College of Charleston to recording A Philadelphonic EP with Chris DiBeneditto (G. Love & Special Sauce, Slightly Stoopid, The Movement) and getting a penthouse suite with a roof-top deck after their first headliner in Palm Beach, the band Long Miles proved they know what it takes to rock. Ok so the hotel in Palm Beach messed up their reservation and had to give them the penthouse suite to make up for it, but who cares? The Reggae-Rock-Jam Band Long Miles from Philly will gladly take any penthouse suite offered if anyone whom works for a hotel is reading. Influenced by Phish, G. Love, Bob Marley, Sublime, and A Tribe Called Quest among others, Long Miles wrote, recorded, and produced their first album with no amps in their dorm during their freshman year at the College of Charleston. Bassist and Vocalist Sam Morgan mainly did this using ProTools under the title 405 Produc-tions in honor of their dorm, room number 405, before teaming up with Chris DiBeneditto at Philadelphonic Studios the year after and recording A Philadelphonic EP. Their freshman year album wasn’t an easy process. Sneaking in a drum set required a lot of stealth, playing the drums required even more, and being subtle while playing the drums is pretty much

(From left to right, starting from the top) Brett Haenn-Lead Guitar; James McNally-Lead Guitar and Vocals; Adam William-Drums; Sam Morgan-Bass and Vocals; John Shields-Vocals and Acoustic Guitar; Ross Bogan- Keyboards, Organ, and Vocals

impossible, so it came to no surprise when the RA’s had a hall meeting to sniff out the guilty party. Pay no attention to the guys in the corner nonchalantly acting like they don’t even know what a drum set is. To make a long story short, the vocals were done in the closet and the drum set was substituted for a drum machine using ProTools. The final result was an acoustic album that turned out to be pretty awesome. When they’re not jamming or sneaking in drum sets, they’re surfing, skating, and boarding or procrastinating school work. The unsigned band values having control and owning rights to their music and ultimately would like to travel the world and play for people who enjoy their music. You can find their music on MySpace and Facebook or most digital stores such as iTunes, Amazon, or Rhapsody. To check out their live recordings, they’re constantly posting on ReverbNation.com/longmiles.*Special thanks to Long Mile’s band manager Jacqui Haenn.*If Long Mile’s hit a $50 billion lottery they would make their own studio on the moon with toilets made of solid gold with sweet equipment and donate the rest to charity .

2/16/11We had a phenomenal day at Hunter Moun-

tain. Beautiful weather, great snow conditions

and best of all, we got to see first hand ev-

erything this NY based resort has to offer...

Which is a lot to say the least.

We arrived around 10am and met with Hunt-

ers man of many trades Dre Morri, who

showed us around and gave us a run down

on what to check out once we were on the

mountain. Hunter just added a brand new high

speed six man lift and I gotta say it was im-

pressivie how fast we were on the top.

The unique thing about this mountain

is that it’s pretty much sectioned off

from beginner to expert. Hunter One

is dedicated to people who are still

getting a feel for things, but includes

some advanced terrain as well and

definetly worth checking out. As you

move over to Hunter Mountain you will

find lot’s of blues,

diamonds, and Empire Park, which also has

it’s very own lift for all you park riders. Hunt-

er West is pretty much all double and single

diamonds. Much steeper terrain and plenty of

trails to pop in and out of.

Later in the day we got back together with

Dre and a couple of local rippers who gave

us a guided tour of the versitile Empire Park.

With the help of park sponsers including

Nike, and Thirty Two, the crew has really made this park accessible to all skill levels. Park crew explained how it was really important to groom, maintain, and cater to what all freestyle riders want to hit. In a sport that is constantly evolving they realize how important it is to know what new features are available, and utilize what works. It’s no surprise that Empire was so well groomed and organized to make a nice flow from one feature to another.Did I mention that Hunter has the Longest and Highest Zipline Canopy Tour in all of North America? This thing’s insane. Oh yea it’s open year round too... So after you tear up the mountain, strap yourself to a zipline on top of a mountain with the elevation of 3,200 feet. Check it out and get more info at

www.ziplinenewyork.comAgain we had a great time at this mountain and will definetly be back, and when we do, we’ll take advantage of there Katskill Moun-tain Club. It’s they’re resort that sits right at the bottom along side of base lodge. Midweek lodging and lift ticket packages start at $99.00. If you have’nt been to Hunter you gotta check it out! Plus... it’s a nice change pf pace if your strictly a PA rider...
