OUR LADY’S MESSAGE—To the World Given 25th February 2018 to Marija Pavlovic

Dear children! “ In this time of grace I am calling all of you to open yourselves and to live the commandments which God has given you, that they may lead you through the Sacraments on the way of conversion. The world and worldly temptations are testing you, but you, little children, look at God’s creatures which He has given to you in beauty and humility and, little children, love God above everything and He will lead you on the way of

salvation. Thank you for having responded to my call. ”

wants to guide us towards heaven which is our goal. That is why Mary mentions “The Commandments” and the “Sacraments” the treasures God has given us to lead us to Paradise. Let us permit ourselves to be led by Mary and led to Heaven by her, to learn to obey her advice, and so to stay on the path of Belief and Prayer. The pace of this world and its temptations bring us more and more into the danger of losing heart and soul, a danger which Our Lady specifically refers. “The world and temptations are testing you.” Amidst these dangers Mary points out for us ‘the Commandments and the Sacraments on our way of Conversion.’ All of us are being tested by worldly temptations and Mary awakens us to this awareness. We are all being tested today by worldliness and the unbelief around us, but Mary awakens us to the sure route that will guide us to Heaven.

Dear Brothers and Sisters of Medjugorje North East and beyond, Our Heavenly Mother the Queen of Peace visits us so that a new Spirit of God may settle in our hearts and souls, and over humanity. The depths of Our Lady’s love is sensed as we reflect on this month’s message, a love that is all tenderness and full of compassion. In her school of love that we call ‘Medjugorje’, where the Spirit teaches us how to Pray and believe with the heart, Mary comes to us with the Gospel message of Repentance and Conversion. The new Spirit of God that Mary wants us to receive is the spirit of ‘Faith’ and ‘Belief.’ Our Lady is the Queen of Prophets and in these times, when so many have lost Peace and the way to God through prayer and faith, when so many are walking close to darkness, Mary shows us again the foundations of our Life with God, because she

The Commandments are the way to love God with all our hearts so as to give the loving response to the love he has shown us, by giving the Lord the first place in our hearts. “you shall love the Lord your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” (Matt: 22.37) When Our Lady asks us to, “Live the commandments which God has given you.” It is a reminder of the Gospel call to love, and to our own human dignity. Whilst the commandments are our obligations in the Christian moral life, their foundations are always in our love for God and neighbour. The Commandments guide our interior intentions of the heart as well as our external behaviour to lead us into the fullness of truth. By seeing the full demands of the Commandments (three in relation to God, seven in relation to neighbour), Mary wants us to recognise our deepest need for Jesus and his grace, making the “Commandments and the Sacraments our Way of Conversion” the turning of our hearts to the love of Our Heavenly Father. When Jesus ascended into Heaven his Divine power passed over into the Sacraments which he left us. Mary invites us to better reflect and internalise what a great treasure we have in just one Sacrament. Each Sacrament we receive should always be a personal encounter with the Risen Jesus, a personal meeting with Him. It is only in the Sacraments that we encounter the Divine Love that helps us live the Commandments- “On our way to Conversion.” The Sacraments are so much part of our

3

Catholic life that sometimes we take them for granted, but Mary reminds us that in and through them we find new life and are strengthened against worldly temptations. Mary concludes by inviting us to “Love God above everything” so that he can lead us on the way to Salvation. Mary is our Mother and loves us as a Mother. She wants to protect and help us, she points out for us our safest route through all worldly temptations. She is our Morning Star who is leading us across the desert of temptation to the Oasis of Peace. Let us listen to her voice.

Let us Pray:

We adore you O Jesus, we love you, and we believe in you.

Thank you for your every word, for your two Commandments,

“ Love the Father above all and others as yourself.”

We love your Father for the ten Commandments that He has given us.

Give us love for the world, for your commandments of love,

for the ten commandments and for the strength to live these commandments

in all situations. Jesus, you know how many are

against you, against your word, against your love,

against your commandments. You know how many are full of hate

and refuse the commandments of Love.

Our Lady’s message to Mirjana 2nd February 2018

“Dear children! , you whom my Son loves, you whom I love with an immeasurable motherly love, do not permit for selfishness, for self love, to rule the world. Do not permit for love and goodness to be hidden. You who are loved, who have come to know the love of my Son, remember that to be loved means to love. My children, have faith. When you have faith you are happy and are spreading peace; your soul trembles with joy. My Son is in such a soul. When you are giving yourself for the faith, when

you are giving yourself for love, when you are doing good to your neighbor, my Son smiles in your soul. Apostles of my love, I am turning to you as a mother. I am gathering you around myself and I desire to lead you on the way of love and faith, on the way which leads to the light of the world. I am here for the sake of love, for the sake of faith, because with my motherly blessing I desire to give you hope and strength on your way - because the way which leads to my Son is not easy. It is full of renunciation, giving, sacrifice, forgiveness and much, much love. But this way leads to peace and happiness. My children, do not believe lying voices which speak to you about false things, false glitter. You, my children, return to the Scripture. I am looking at you with immeasurable love, and through God's grace am making myself evident to you. My children, set out with me. May your soul tremble with joy. Thank you.”

We adore you O Jesus and we ask that all unbelievers and atheists and

every baptised person be given a special Love for your commandments.

We ask you to make yourself known to people

who do not know you and to all those people who do your will.

Do not allow the enemy to deceive us by destroying your command to love

in our hearts. Our one desire is that your

commandments be the hope, the light,

the truth and the love to the whole world.

Thank you, Jesus, for giving us the means to allow us to share in your

holiness-the Sacraments.

In Baptism, we receive your holiness and we thank you for the Holy Mass and Eucharist-your presence with us. Thank you, Jesus, in the name of all

Catholics, for Confession that cleanses the soul.

Thank you for the Sacrament of Matrimony to make marriages holy,

and Ordination that configures a man to you.

Thank you, Jesus,

for your life in the Sacraments.”

of the beautiful statue of the Mother of God that he had placed in his church. This was the statue of the Blessed Mother at the rue du Bac in Paris, the sanctuary of the Miraculous Medal. In this statue, her hands are extended outwards, with rays of light shining forth from the rings on her fingers representing the graces that she gives when they are asked for by her children. In order to make sure that this lost sheep would not be left alone in his horrible darkness, the priest invited him to have great confidence in the Blessed Virgin, saying:

"Go pray before the statue and look at her right in the eye! She is your Mother, she will help you!" Disappointed at not being able to open his heart to the priest, the young man went to kneel before the Mother of God and poured out all his misery. He focused his gaze on her eyes. Suddenly, he felt a great sense of relief coming from

Medjugorje, February 11, 2018 Our Lady of Lourdes

Dear Children of Medjugorje, praise be to Jesus and Mary! 1. On February 2, 2018 Mirjana received her monthly apparition in her home, in the presence of a small crowd. After the apparition, she shared the message, which Our Lady gives to all of us: ( see page 4) 2. An exorcist priest in Italy. Known in his parish for his powerful prayer, this Priest told me that one day a young man who was in big trouble came to see him, and begged to talk to him because he was desperate. He was at the end of his rope. Not only was he physically ill, but he was also in constant mental turmoil. He had become addicted to occult practices that were devastating to his soul, but those practices were only cherry on the cake. He was also into drugs, alcohol and other harmful, addictive things! Unfortunately, this priest was in the middle of another difficult case, and couldn't interrupt that process. But seeing the young man in so much pain, he didn't want him to leave with too much disappointment. He then thought

Don Bosco remained silent. He knew how much she was doing for them, working practically around the clock. So he pulled a crucifix from his pocket and held it before his mother's eyes. She took a long look at Jesus on the cross, understood the message and ended up saying: "Alright, I'll stay!" Jesus didn't try to avoid what was coming when it became too difficult.

Vicka loves to ask Jesus in prayer: "Lord, tell me, what can I do for you, to comfort you on your way of the cross?" I think that this is the right question we should ask at the beginning of Lent. Concerning the fast, some people are still reluctant to commit to this practice which the Queen of Peace actually requested from us. Fasting is a grace that we can ask for with fervor because it bears amazing fruit! Let's not forget this message, especially these days with what we are seeing in the news: "Dear children, only by fasting and prayer can you prevent wars, stop wars and suspend natural laws." (Flood, tsunami, avalanches, fire, etc.) So let us ask

Mary's eyes. Never in his life had he felt such maternal tenderness. Full of joy, he remained for a long time in front of the statue, transfixed. It was like a balm that penetrated his body, his heart and his soul! When he left he was healed and free! Blessed Mary, chosen by God to crush the head of the serpent, was the perfect person to rescue this lost son, trapped by the false happiness that the world offers our young people today. In her maternal compassion, Mary had obtained this release from God. Dear friends, it is no coincidence that once again this month Our Lady tells us: "I look at you with immense love and, by the grace of God, I show myself to you. My children, set out with me. May your soul leap with joy!" Let her Motherly gaze penetrate in the innermost depths of our being! 3. Vigilance for Lent. Saint John Bosco had gathered many children who were abandoned on the streets of Turin (Italy). His mother, Margarita, had the difficult task of being a mother to this new found, very large family. One day she just couldn't do it anymore, and she said to her son: "I'm exhausted. They break everything. You can't keep them still. I quit. Find someone else to take care of them!"

ourselves: what could be easier? Fasting on bread and water on Wednesdays and Fridays, or repairing the damage of an earthquake or of a flood that could have been prevented through fasting? 4. Pope called for Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace on 23 February. 5. Here is a prayer that will help us to fast with all our heart

Evening prayer before a fasting day: "Dear Jesus, you know that tomorrow is a day of fasting. You also know that I decided to fast, as your Mother urgently invites us to do. However Jesus, to tell you the truth, I really need You, because I am so attached to food! Fasting is an effort that is difficult for me. O Jesus, I beg you, please stay with me all day. Do not allow temptation to come and steal away the grace that You have prepared for me for tomorrow. I would like to help you reach all those hearts that are now closed to Your call! I know that by offering my fast, You will be able to fill them with

Your Light and Your Love. But you know how weak I am... Dear Jesus, give me the grace of fasting with my heart, so as to obtain rich fruits of conversion for my family and so many others, without thinking about food that I will not eat. ... I don't want to make this decision by myself, but with You. Be my strength, my God! With You, anything is possible and I am not afraid! And also, Jesus, my joy is to think about the millions of Your children who will be spiritually united with me tomorrow, also fasting on bread and water. I will not be alone and that is very encouraging. Your Mother calls us "the apostles of her love." She depends on us to carry out her plans for the world... What an honor to be part of this family! Dear Jesus, talking to you has already given me courage. Thank you! I surrender myself to You in confidence. I unite my fast to Your fasting in the desert, so that it will acquire infinite value, and this fills me with joy!" Dearest Gospa, we beg you, please inspire us with your own feelings when you could foresee the Passion of your Son Jesus! May this Lent connect us deeply with the secrets of your motherly heart! What did Jesus share with you before His Passion?

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Once again, the Pasch of the Lord draws near! In our preparation for Easter, God in his providence offers us each year the season of Lent as a “sacramental sign of our conver-sion”. Lent summons us, and enables us, to come back to the Lord whole-heartedly and in every aspect of our life. With this message, I would like again this year to help the entire Church ex-perience this time of grace anew, with joy and in truth. I will take my cue from the words of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew: “Because of the increase of iniquity, the love of many will grow cold” (24:12). These words appear in Christ’s preaching about the end of time. They were spoken in Jerusalem, on the Mount of Olives, where the Lord’s passion would begin. In reply to a question of the disciples, Jesus fore-tells a great tribulation and describes a situation in which the community of believers might well find itself: amid great trials, false prophets would lead people astray and the love that is the core of the Gospel would grow cold in the hearts of many. In his description of hell, Dante Alighieri pictures the devil seated on a throne of ice, in frozen and loveless isolation. We might well ask our-selves how it happens that charity can turn cold within us. What are the signs that indicate that our love is be-ginning to cool? More than anything else, what de-stroys charity is greed for money, “the root of all evil” The rejection of God and his peace soon follows; we prefer

our own desolation rather than the comfort found in his word and the sacraments. All this leads to violence against anyone we think is a threat to our own “certainties”: the unborn child, the elderly and infirm, the mi-grant, the alien among us, or our neighbour who does not live up to our expectations. Creation itself becomes a silent wit-ness to this cooling of charity. The earth is poisoned by refuse, discarded out of carelessness or for self-interest. The seas, themselves pollut-ed, engulf the remains of countless shipwrecked victims of forced migra-tion. The heavens, which in God’s plan, were created to sing his praises, are rent by engines raining down im-plements of death. Love can also grow cold in our own communities. In the Apostolic Ex-hortation Evangelii Gaudium, I sought to describe the most evident signs of this lack of love: selfishness and spiritual sloth, sterile pessimism, the temptation to self-absorption, constant warring among ourselves, and the worldly mentality that makes us concerned only for appearances, and thus lessens our missionary zeal. Perhaps we see, deep within our-selves and all about us, the signs I have just described. But the Church, our Mother and Teacher, along with the often-bitter medicine of the truth, offers us in the Lenten season the soothing remedy of prayer, almsgiv-ing and fasting. By devoting more time to prayer, we enable our hearts to root out our se-cret lies and forms of self-deception,

and then to find the consolation God offers. He is our Father and he wants us to live life well. Above all, I urge the members of the Church to take up the Lenten journey with enthusiasm, sustained by alms-giving, fasting and prayer. “May the light of Christ rising in glory dispel the darkness of our hearts and minds”, and enable all of us to relive the experience of the disciples

and OFS in their communities or have done so in the last years. In those three days, special prizes were awarded to those who participated in the Literary contest with the theme of the martyred Herzegovinian Franciscans. On the fourth day, of the Anniversary, the programme began in front of the military shelter, the place of martyrdom of 12 burnt Franciscans from Siroki Brijeg monastery. The programme was planned to continue in front of the grave, where 24 Franciscans were buried. Holy Mass for the Dead followed. The main celebrant was Dr. Fr. Miljenko Steko, the Provincial of Herzegovinian Franciscan Province. At the end, Fr. Stojic presented the work of his Association for the previous year, and Fr. Tomislav Puljic thanked and welcome all those who gathered on this occasion in their monastery. February 7 commemorates the Day of The Martyred Franciscans, as declared by town of Siroki Brijeg, as well as the Day of Victims, as declared by the West Herzegovina County.

On Sunday, 4 February, 8 days Prayer for Martyred Franciscans began, on the 73rd anniversary of 66 martyred Franciscans.

This event is organised by Vice-postulation of the martyrdom procedure “Fr. Leo Petrovic and 65 brothers”, led by Fr. Miljenko Stojic. Radio Siroki Brijeg broadcast the programme live on radio and Internet as well (radiosirokibrijeg.com). The programme in the first three days began with the Rosary and mediation at 5.30 pm, followed by the Holy Mass for the Dead at 6 pm. The main celebrants this year are: Fr. Antonio Sakota, Fr. Domagoj Simic and Fr. Ivan Matic. All three are currently involved in leading YouFra

on the way to Emmaus. By listening to God’s word and drawing nourish-ment from the table of the Eucharist, may our hearts be ever more ardent in faith, hope and love. With affection and the promise of my prayers for all of you, I send you my blessing. Please do not forget to pray for me.

In the Gospel Jesus said, “if anyone declares himself for me in the presence of men, I will declare myself for him in the presence of my Father in heaven.” The thirty Franciscan martyrs of Široki Brijeg are a powerful example of declaring oneself in the presence of others for Jesus. They lived something else Jesus also said in the Gospel, ‘Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; fear him rather who can destroy both body and soul in hell.’ Witnessing to Jesus and following God’s way helps others who are lacking courage to follow Jesus. One

of the soldiers in the firing squad at Široki Brijeg later said, “Since I was a child, in my family, I had always heard from my mother that God exists. To the contrary of

Leaders who had always asserted and taught each one of us: there is no God. God does not exist! But when I stood in front of the martyrs of Široki Brijeg and I saw how those friars faced death, praying and blessing their persecutors, asking God to forgive the faults of their executioners, it was then that I recalled to my mind the words of my mother and I thought that my mother was right: God exists!” That soldier converted and now he has a son a priest and a daughter a nun. As I said, witnessing to Jesus and following God’s way also helps others in the crowd who are lacking the courage to follow Jesus.

The Thirty Franciscan Martyrs of Široki Brijeg.

http://sirokibrijegofs.org Thousands of pilgrims visit the Franciscan Monastery in Široki Brijeg every year, about one hour distant from Medjugorje On 7th February 1945 enemy soldiers arrived and said, “God is dead, there is no God, there is no Pope, there is no Church, there is no need of you, you also go out in the world and work.” They forgot that the Franciscans were working, most of the Franciscans were teaching in the adjoining school. Some of the Franciscans were famous professors and had written books. The soldiers asked them to remove their habits. The Franciscans refused. One angry soldier took the Crucifix and threw it on the floor. He said, “you can now choose either life or death.” Each of the Franciscans knelt down, embraced the Crucifix and said, “You are my God and my All.” The thirty Franciscans were taken out and slaughtered and their bodies burned in a nearby cave where their remains lay for many years. Today they are buried inside the Franciscan church.

It was hoped that all involved would respect the instruction to close their facilities and offices in the afternoon, to enable all employees to attend Church.

ROSARY ON THE COAST FOR FAITH LIFE AND

PEACE

3pm Sunday 29th April 2018

A rosary prayer event is being planned in April along the coastline of Britain. Catholics from Port Glasgow to the holy island of Lindisfarne to Jersey and Gibraltar have expressed interest. “It’s really caught the imagination of people,” Following similar initiative in Poland and Ireland a group of Catholics supported by some Bishops have decided to hold such a day of Prayer on Sunday 29th April 2018 at 3pm. The 5th Sunday of Easter is both providentially the Feast of Our Lady of Faith & St. Catherine of Siena, who is one of the co patrons of Europe. This frames the initiative in the wider context of re Christianising our great continent. Praying The Rosary around the UK will mark 50 years since the Abortion Act coming into effect. Organisers say the day is aimed at a “re-flourishing of the faith, for the grace to build a culture of life and for true peace to reign in the hearts of all peoples and nations”. NE Locations at Blyth Beach and Newbiggin by the sea have already been Scheduled. At Newbiggin, The Brinkburn

Partnership (Amble, Ashington, Bedlington, Longhorsley and Morpeth) are organising an event. At St Bartholomew's Church Yard, Church point, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea NE64 6DB. If the weather is poor on the day we shall use the Church. The Church is very easy to find, if you follow the main road into Newbiggin (off the A197) you will come to the Church and there is a public car park just in front of the Church by the Maritime museum. Additionally, a simple corded rope, known as cinture, with three knots is worn around the waist. The three knots represent Poverty, Chastity and Obedience, the three cornerstones of the Franciscan Order. If you are inspired by life of Saint Francis and the charism of the Fran-ciscans, and If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to serve at the largest Catholic media outlet in the world, as a Franciscan Brother or a Priest, then you may want to discern a vocation with the Franciscan Mis-sionaries of the Eternal Word. If you are a single man between the ages of 21-35 who is discerning a calling to religious life, and particularly to a community focused on evangeliza-tion, the Franciscan Missionaries in-vite you to learn more about their community.

Why do Franciscans wear Brown

http://franciscanmissionaries.com/ It’s one of the most iconic and recog-nizable religious habits in the world. The image of a preaching Friar, in his simple brown robe with a humble cinture, is a powerful, evocative, and indelible image But why exactly do Franciscans wear brown? Franciscans friars, in the tradition of their founder Saint Francis of Assisi, embrace a life of simple and unat-tached poverty. Their brown robes reflected the destitution of the peas-ants they served at the time of their founding. The robes of St. Francis' followers were made of cloth and old clothing donated by those peasants, who always wore undyed brown, the least expensive material of the time.
