Featured Employee Harford PRP Gina Colonna

Gina Colonna, is a psychiatric rehab counselor at the Harford County PRP. This is her first career in the mental health field where she states she has, “gained an understanding of mental illness symptoms and a greater sense of empathy for those living with it.” When asked what she enjoys the most about her position, Gina responded, “I love teaching art class. I love allowing people to explore their creative abilities. I find it challenging to wake up at 6:00 AM (but first, coffee).” Gina worked as a hotel receptionist before she joined the PRP team. She took the plunge a year and a half ago and moved from Pennsylvania to Maryland to begin her journey at Key Point as a rehab aide and later transferred to the position as PRP Counselor. Gina says her favorite activity while working at Key Point has been “attending the art show at the American Visionary Art Museum. The theme was “Walk in My Shoes”, relating to ending the stigmas of mental illness. Our very talented clients worked hard on their art pieces to display at the show.” Gina loves 4-wheeling and getting muddy! On her days off, she loves doing crafts and often spends her days doing DIY projects. She is passionate about everything having to do with the outdoors: gardening, beach, nature photography, hiking, camping, and sitting by a bonfire.

Gina took this picture after her

interview with Key Point in June 2015. If you could be anyone in any time period who

would it be? “I would be Scary Spice from the 90’s. I looked up to her growing up

because she was a bold, independent woman.

Take a minute to wish Gina Happy Birthday

March 13th!
