PYP The Nursery homerooms were filled with fun and excitement as the students
celebrated Farm Day on Friday, 21st October. It was to familiarize the students with farm
animals as they inquire into their current UOI - Animals and people interact in different ways in
different contexts. Students brought farm products and shared their knowledge with their peers.
They also shared whatever they tasted dairy products like butter, cheese, shrikhand, curd, mayonnaise,
ice creams etc. with their friends.
The day ended with sharing of Dairy Milk chocolate that each student had brought. They distributed among
their friends and took them home gleefully.

A healthy fiesta- Fit ‘n Fun Fiesta
“The groundwork for all happiness is good health.” – Leigh Hunt The 2nd graders concluded their first UOI about Healthy lifestyle, and, as a part of the Action plan, they arranged a “Fit ‘n Fun Fiesta” on 21st October 2016. To demonstrate what a healthy lifestyle is like, students put up various stalls, where they sold healthy food and drinks. They also organised an Aroma Meditation center, a Zumba dance floor, and fitness and recreational games for the PYP students. They enjoyed serving others and creating awareness about healthy ways of living. The earnings from the fiesta will be contributed towards charity. The Grade 2 team sincerely thanks the enthusiastic parents, volunteer teachers, and students for their support.
Here are some motivating comments that made us feel proud!

Fund Raising Event organized by PYP Student Council

Month 2015-16
PYP Diwali being a festival of lights, the PYP student council, decided to raise
funds to illuminate the lives of the underprivileged and bring smile on their faces. For the
first time the council members from Grade 4 and 5 initiated the “Diwali Art Dhamaka” for this purpose.
Our energetic and dedicated members propagated through self-designed posters and canvassed
vigorously to encourage students to participate. Students from grades 1 to 5 made creative greeting cards,
diyas, envelopes, lanterns and book marks for the event. Council members very enthusiastically and
diligently, conducted the event, right from planning, canvassing, and marketing to selling. The event was a
grand success, since each and every item was sold out!! The money collected will be donated to an NGO.
A special thanks to all the PYP parents, without whose support this would not have been successful.

MYP On 18 Oct, 2016, it was a turn for one another weekly assembly and it was the Grade 9
Assembly. As we stepped into the auditorium, we were welcome with decorations near the stage.
Rangoli-a design with rice flour, flowers of different hues, shining brass lamps and colourful earthen
lamps brightly lit, indeed ushered a festive season. We told ourselves that were ready to rehearse Diwali
-the festival of lights. The students of Grade 9 delivered a thought provoking assembly that was focused on the
Global Context, Personal and Cultural Expression. They started the assembly with a humorous play but underling
with a deep message. We all agreed that one must be proud of his or her culture and the importance behind it. This
was interspersed with a variety of items like a melodious rendition of 'Cheap Thrills' by Sia played on Indian
instruments by Varun Badrinarayan and Dhrruv Dedhia . This represented the mix of cultures. Next, the girls
performed an entertaining traditional Indian dance with electric lights in their palms. This was followed by a video
of how our world would be without culture. This was indeed an eye opener for all of us gathered in the auditorium.
The assembly ended with a soothing prayer. When we left, we appreciated this assembly which taught us that each
and every culture has its own importance and must be respected. We really enjoyed the presentations and felt that
the message they shared was appropriate.
In the end, prizes were awarded to the students who had won laurels for the school in the recent competitions.
Overall, all this was a treat!

ASSEMBLY ON PERSONAL & CULTURAL EXPERESSIONS
We had our weekly assembly in which the Grade 9 presented how diverse is our
culture. The assembly started with a skit they showed how diverse our culture was
when my brother, Varun Badrinarayan played the violin and accompanied by Dhrruv
Dhedia who played the dhol to Sia‟s hit song, Cheap Thrills. I enjoyed how they
presented this in the role play and how they showed the cultural diversity. After the
song, we watched a dance performed by the Grade 9 girls who danced to „Jiya Jale‟
with diyas in their palms. To end it, there was a small prayer which ended the
assembly on a perfect note and which left us wondering how diverse our culture
actually is!

Reflecting on our “Service as Action” unit initiated Activity
On October 14, 2016, Grade 9 Hindi class planted saplings as our unit initiated activity
for our first unit – Environment. Our Global Context for this unit was “Globalization and
Sustainability”. In my opinion, our reason for learning about such global matters is that
changes in our environment are directly connected with our lives; hence, globalization
affects the environment and sustainable development in many ways. Through this
activity, we learn to undertake challenges to develop new skills such as: to take care of a
plant in a pot, importance of time management, and need to work collaboratively. We had
to get the materials required for the same, co-ordinate and adjust our schedules to take
care of the plant and perseverance in action as we have to water the plants on a daily
basis. This was an educational activity that helped us develop skills in a creative yet
exciting way. We are thankful to our subject teacher Ms Rizwana Khan, Mr Satish Gotad
and the other staff who helped us all the way in this activity.

FRENCH & FLOWERS
Our First Unit in French focuses on: My locality/my city. As a class, we decided to plant a few saplings in our school garden. Each student had to get a sapling from home. Our goal is to water the plants on a regular basis and maintain it and enjoy the pure environment around us. On 20 October 2016, we bought our saplings from home and planted it in the garden. We went to the garden and located a proper area to place our pots. We found one and we discussed with the school gardener about this arrangement. Once the activity was complete, we realized that it beautified the surroundings. Merrily, we watered all our plants. This activity indeed gave us pride and pleasure. As our plants mature and flower, we will share our joy with you all. After all, the pure joy of happiness lies in the joy of giving.
