    Their first product is a palatable form ofsantonin an antiparasitic used to treatintestinal worms, a common affliction inmid-19th century America. Combining theirskills, Pfizer, a chemist, and Erhart, aconfectioner, blend santonin with almond-

    toffee flavoring and shape it into a candycone. The "new" santonin is an immediatesuccess and the company is launched.
