liniLED – THE DIFFERENCEMany people ask how is liniLED different from cheaper Asian made ribbon products. There are so many differences that it would be like describing the inside of a computer so I will try to add to what you can already understand from liniLED catalog sheets.

• It is Specification grade.• Made entirely in the EU / USA.• The LEDs are the latest Osram TopLED (made jointly USA and EU). They have the highest light output

for the lowest energy and are true energy saving LEDs.

Osram’s binning for mid-range LEDs is arguably the best in the world, which means that the color matching both initially and for the life of the LEDs is consistent. This is critical if you ever want to add to a project later. You are probably familiar with the color shift problems lamp to lamp of metal halidewhich produce those ugly spots of different colors on a wall. Unless you have "fine" binning the effect is worse with white LEDs. (There are endless levels ofbinning which produce cheaper and cheaper LEDs with greater and greater inconsistency of color and with different forward voltage requirements to drivethem). The bottom line is that you get what you pay for.

The liniLED circuit is a patented custom design with the highest quality electronics possible and has an IC every 8" to further control the input to the LEDs toensure that they are driven as precisely as possible as additional protection against color shift and reduced life of individual LEDs.

Osram/Siemens manufacture this for us which ensures the quality and you will see their name on the product alongside ours as our partner. liniLED is a superior product to their normal standards.

A simple but convincing test is to run liniLED and hold the strip in your hand. There will be no perceptible heat in comparison with other products. With LEDs heat is the killer!

There are great misunderstandings about LED lighting applications. One of the most common misunderstandings is that you can place LEDs in inaccessibleplaces because they are solid state, are shockproof and have a long life. LEDs are all of that, but they are operated by computerized electronic circuits on PCboards with many more components. The question you should ask yourself is "Would you place your laptop in an outdoor -or inaccessible position and ex-pect it to be problem free for years and years?

In a nutshell, LED luminaires are electronic circuits and the LEDs are only as good as the other components driving them, and everything is dependent on thequality of manufacturing.
