Like a prioress, he is a religious figure and probably shouldn’t be a hunter, over fed, expensively dressed, and a cultivator of expensive and bad habits
MONK FROM THE CANTERBURY TALES WAS MUCH DIFFERENT
The Monk doesn’t live a traditional
religious life of hard work, study, and fasting,
claiming an his excuse was that he was a

Instead, he lived a comfortable life of
sport, fine food and clothing, and
amusements outside the monastery walls.
A MANLY MAN
“The Monk was one of the finest sorts, a good
man.”
His favorite past time is hunting
He kept gorgeous and most likely expensive horses and grey
hounds.
Like a prioress, he is a religious figure and probably shouldn’t
be a hunter, over fed, expensively dressed, and a cultivator of
expensive and bad habits
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
The Monk was actually FAT, BALD, and GREASY.
He had eyes that rolled back into his head
“His head was bald and shone like looking-glass;
so did his face, as if it had been greased”
“He was a fat and personable priest”
THE MONK TELLS RELIGIOUS AND UNBELIEVABLE STORIES
He starts off telling tales of Lucifer falling
from his spot in heaven to become Satan in
hell. Then speaks of Sampson and off some
other stories from the bible. Then he tells of
Hercules, King Nebuchadnezzar, Zenobia,
and more. The Monk tells of all these tales
and more, they all have some religious
aspect to them.
