Western Specialties Overview and Products
• We began with the Composi-Sleeve system when the inventor, Mr. Carl “Whitey” Brooks, a long time pipeline welder, realized there was a safer, more reliable way to install steel sleeves.
• Western has developed new products over the years with new technology systems to keep up with customers needs.
• Being one of the newest manufactures we have had the advantage of the strongest fabrics and adhesive.
• Now we are launching our newest product “Smart Sleeve”.

Fiber Optic Sensor Advantages
Prototype of Smart Sleeve
Sensor placement and cable configuration allow for fault tolerance and redundancy.
Conclusion and Capabilities
• Lloyd’s Register and Western Specialties have teamed up to merge two existing technologies.
• The designs and full scale testing have been conducted by 3rd party engineering company.
• Capabilities of this new technology and repair system are only limited to what the operator wants to monitor.
• Having the ability to monitor both the condition of the pipeline as well as the repair without further visual inspections eliminates the need for additional digs.
• Being able to measure for overburden, internal and external corrosion, movement in geological active areas and even leaks can be realized before a major event occurs.
