What are lingering ash?Lingering ashLingering ash are those mature, native, untreatedash trees that persist in healthy condition signiDcantlyafter the vast majority of mature, native, untreated ashin the same area have been killed by EAB. Research ledby the USDA U.S. Forest Service has shown thatselective breeding of ash trees derived from scion(twig samples) taken from lingering ash can yieldhighly EAB-resistant trees within two generations, offering tremendous hope for ash conservation. Acompelling presentation on this project can be seen athttps://continentalforestdialogue.Dles.wordpress.com/2016/07/koch-lingering-ash-cont-dial-2016.pdf.
