Money plays a very

important role in our

everyday life. Our parents

work very hard to earn

money. With this money,

they are able to send us

to school, buy food,clothes, books and other

important things.

Every country has its own money or

currency. In Malaysia, our currency is

known as ringgit(RM) and sen. The notesare in RM1, RM2, RM5, RM10, RM50 and

RM100. The coins are in 1 sen, 5 sen, 10

sen, 20 sen and 50 sen.

symbols, we separate the ringgit and sen by a

point.

Adding money is similar to adding numbers. It can be

carried out in the vertical form.

Subtracting money is similar to subtracting numbers. It

can be carried out in the vertical form.

Subtract RM927 from RM3 016.

Solution:

Answer: RM2 089

Example 7

Take away RM2 958.45 from RM7825.60.

Solution:

RM7 825.60- RM2 958.45

RM4 867.15

Answer: RM4 867.15

subtraction involving money up to RM10000

Mixed operation can be performed on money. It is

similar to performing mixed operation on number.

Example 8Add RM965 with RM8 039. Then, subtract RM5 003.

+ RM8 039 - RM5 003RM9 004 RM4 001

Answer: RM4 001
