CELTIC REVIVAL! - THE SKY’S STORY

Have you ever wondered what you would have if you crossed

the high intensity Irish step dance of River-dance with good

humor, and fast-paced Celtic fiddle music, mix thoroughly,

then blend in a perfect measure of Gospel seasoning? You’d

have The SKY Family from Prince Edward Island, Canada.

“Fun” and “inspiring” are two words that fittingly describe

their high-energy Celtic dance and Gospel production -

CELTIC REVIVAL! The SKY family will be performing at

the Green Mountain Christian Center, 440 Main Street,

Bennington on Tuesday, April 21st at 6:30 pm.

The production consists of world class Irish dance combined

with lively fiddle music and songs rich in harmonies. Woven

throughout are humorous stories and inspirational

testimonies. Each member of the family performs on several

instruments and all contribute to the rich vocal harmonies

and dance. Visitors from all over the world have enjoyed

their ‘Summer Concert Series’ at their SKY’S Performance

Centre on Prince Edward Island. Check out their music at

Lâ??ENSEMBLE CHAMBER MUSIC GROUP PRESENTS â??ITâ??S

BETTER WITH A BAND: SONGS OF COLE PORTER AND STEPHEN

    SONDHEIM,â?• SUNDAY, APRIL 19 , 5:00 P.M.

    AT BENNINGTONâ??S OLDCASTLE THEATRE. Renowned

Lâ??Ensemble chamber musical group will celebrate its third and last

concert of its second season of residency at the Oldcastle Theatre Com-

pany with â??Itâ??s Better with a Band: Songs of Cole Porter and Stephen

Sondheimâ?• on Sunday, April 19 at 5 p.m. Oldcastle Theatre is located

at 331 Main St., Bennington, VT.

Composer/lyricists Porter and Sondheim are inarguably two of the great-

est contributors to the Great American Songbook: Porterâ??s â??Nightand Day,â?• â??So in Loveâ?• and â??Too Darn Hot,â?• and

    Sondheimâ??s â??Send in the Clowns,â?• â??Being Aliveâ?• and

â??Iâ??m Still Hereâ?• only begin to hint at the songwritersâ?? wit and

    range.

Fittingly, the theatre space will be transformed into a cabaret setting, with

wine and refreshments courtesy of Lâ??Ensemble and Oldcastle Theatre.

The performers are Ida Faiella, Girl Singer; Lincoln Mayorga, Piano; Ashley

Horne, Violin; Bruce Williamson, Saxophone; and Otto Gardner, Bass.

Tickets are $25 and $10 for students. Tickets are available at

    www.oldcastletheatre.org or by calling (802) 447-0564.

Founded in the mid 1970s, Lâ??Ensemble's musical mission has always

been to stretch the definition of chamber music. L'Ensemble performs all

facets of chamber music from Bach's unaccompanied sonatas to fully-staged

productions. Under the direction of founder and artistic director Ida Faiella,

L'Ensemble's repertoire includes the classics and much more, from jazz-

influenced works to cabaret arrangements of the standards by such com-

posers as Irving Berlin, Stephen Sondheim, George Gershwin and Leonard

Bernstein. Visit the groupâ??s web site at www.lensembleconcerts.org.
