Welcome

Thank you for downloading this fine plug-in from BetabugsAudio. Inkeeping with the spirit of the company, this plug-in is deceptively simple inconcept but powerful in creative potential, while featuring an attractive andeasy-to-use interface.

Moneo is a stereo plug-in which treats each channel as a separate monauralsource. Each channel may then have its volume attenuated, its position inthe stereo field panned, and its sonic character altered with a resonant low-or high-pass filter if you so choose.

What makes Moneo exciting is the unique visual representation of whatmight otherwise seem to be everyday functions. The paired X/Y pads givethe recording musician a whole new way to apply spatial and frequency-based manipulations to a sound. Moneo is equally comfortable with basicfunctionality (forcing mono) or inventive destruction of a source's originalspatial and spectral identity!

License

Moneo has a basic license:

1. Moneo is freeware. This means that you are free to distribute it, give itto friends, or otherwise share it around. However, only the entireunaltered archive (including this document) may be re-distributed.

2. Copyright of the code and the finished plug-in remain the property ofBetabugsAudio and Moneo's author, Duncan Parsons.

3. This plug-in is provided at no cost; therefore the author andBetabugsAudio assume no responsibility for any damage that mayoccur to the end user or the equipment used to run the plug-in.

4. Magazine editors are free to include Moneo on cover-mount CDs orsimilar media; however, we request that you inform a member of theBetabugs team by e-mail in order to advise us. We certainly wouldn'tsay “no” to a few copies of the publication, either!

Controls

X/Y Pads: Volume/Pan Filter Frequency/Resonance

All changes are made on the two separate X/Y pads. Within each pad are“L” (left) and a “R” (right) icons (or “bobbles” as we haven taken to callingthem), representing the two channels of the original stereo signal. Theymay be moved freely and independently within their respective fields.

The “L” and “R” bobbles may be locked to either the X or the Y axis.Holding the Ctrl key while moving an icon will restrict its movement to thehorizontal (X) axis, while holding Shift while moving an icon will lock itsmovement to the vertical (Y) axis.

Holding the Alt key while clicking overlapping bobbles will enable you tochoose which is “on top” and therefore more easily selected and moved.

In the filter pad, right-clicking a bobble will give you a small menu in whichyou are given three possible settings: Off, LowPass, and HighPass.

A few technical details about the controls:

Volume/Pan: The Gain is variable from -inf to +6dB. The panningranges from hard left to hard right.

Filter: The filter cut-off range is from 22 Hz to Nyquist (half your chosensample rate). Resonance is available from 0 to 100%, so exercise cautionwhen reaching high levels! There is no limiter in Moneo itself, so you maywant to consider putting one next in your signal chain when pushingresonance into new and frightening territory.

Automation

Moneo is currently controlled by VST automation. We recommend usingautomation for fine control of the plug-in. Automation on a dummy trackmay also be useful in creating user presets with precision.

There is currently no MIDI automation in place, though it is certainly aconsideration for future versions of Moneo.

Feedback / Bug Reports

We are always eager to hear feedback or have bugs reported. The easiestway is to visit the Bughouse user forum, found at BetabugsAudio.com. Ifyou would like to join us in future beta tests, contact Mully or another teammember by Bughouse private message for details.
