Write title on page 37, “Potential Energy”

• Potential Energy – energy that is stored

• Example of PE: Waiting at the top of the slide

Page 4: Monday, Nov. 9th 1 Bell-ringer: If Kinetic Energy is energy in motion, what is Potential Energy? Agenda: Bell-ringer Review “Potential Energy” notes Think,

Three Main Types of P.E.• Elastic Potential Energy (EPE) – energy stored by something

that can stretch or compress. Example: a rubber band or spring

• Chemical Potential Energy (CPE) – energy that is stored in chemical bonds. Example: a glass of milk has CPE until you drink it, then calories are used as energy for your body.

• Gravitational Potential Energy (GPE) – anything that can fall has GPE. Example: a ball on a ledge

of potential energy?2. What is a

nonrenewable/renewable energy source?

1. Create an example of “how energy transforms from one form to the next” on your filmstrip. Please use your own examples, not one from the notes.

2. Color your example. 3. Cut out your filmstrip.4. Cut out your TV and the center box of TV.5. Glue on page 40; DO NOT GLUE THE SIDES OF THE

TV6. The sides will allow the filmstrip to pass through

the it.
