Note from the Business Office

Tuition statements were e-mailed out last week. Tuition

payments for this quarter are due on February 1st. If you did

not receive your tuition statement, please contact Kathy Hurt

in the Business Office ([email protected]).

Upcoming SACS Survey

As you are aware, SBA and our Diocese are both SACS

accredited institutions. As part of maintaining that most

important of credentials, we will be asking our families (and

students and staff) to complete an upcoming online survey. It

was designed by the SACS organization and the site will be

launched on January 17, remaining open through February 2.

More details (and a reminder or two) will follow but we

hope you will please take the time to help us. SACS has

determined that a minimum of 40% parental participation

will be required for a school’s continued accreditation,

though of course we know there will be much more. As

always, results will be anonymous. Just one more way you

can help us reach our goals. Thank you in advance.

January 2013

Dear Sophomore Families,

St. Benedict is pleased to announce our partnership with an online test prep program,

ePrep. EPrep utilizes practice tests, video study halls, video tutorials, and much more to

help students improve their SAT, ACT, and PSAT scores. This program is free for all of

our sophomores and juniors.

During the middle of January, Laura David, the new 10th grade Counselor, will be

reviewing this program with your sophomore student in English class. Students will

create a password that they will need to log-in each time. Every student’s account will be

active from now until January of senior year. EPrep is a program for the students to use at

home at their leisure.

We encourage you to review this program with your student. Please do not create a new

account, but rather log-in with your student’s email address and password so we’ll have

enough accounts for all of our sophomore and junior students.

We include this passage to give you a fuller description of the program: “EPrep

successfully uses expert instructors to deliver a student-adaptable learning experience that

patrons can access at the library or remotely from home. Using a proprietary video

delivery platform that replicates the private tutor experience, ePrep makes test

preparation easy. All of ePrep’s study programs employ the proven practice-grade-

review cycle of learning: Students take practice tests under timed conditions; have them

graded online; and immediately launch into video reviews. EPrep’s Study Hall tracks

student progress throughout each course and guides remedial efforts, while Wordsmith

encourages vocabulary building. A Parent Center allows parents to track student progress

non-intrusively, while ePrep’s Study Scheduler helps students stay on track.”

Details on ePrep’s video test preparation service can be found at http://www.eprep.com/ .

To log-in your student’s account simply go to

http://school.eprep.com/auburndalehstn/login and type in his/her email address and

password. We hope you can partner with us in encouraging your student

to take full advantage of this user-friendly, instructional tool. If you

have any questions, please feel free to contact your student’s counselor.

Sincerely,

SBA Guidance

Message from our Home & School Association

Monday, January 28, the beginning of Catholic Schools Week, has been

designated to show formal appreciation to our faculty and staff during the

annual Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. Our lunch theme is “Chinese

New Year.” Our teachers and staff are exceptional and that is conveyed

tangibly by your participation in this annual event. Some of the ways that

you can be involved are listed below. If you have any questions or wish to

volunteer on Sunday or Monday please contact Beth Jackson

([email protected]) or Angie Valadie ([email protected]).

1. Pray for the teachers and staff. Let them know that you have done so

in a note of appreciation that is delivered to them sometime the week of

January 28.

2. Have your son or daughter write a note of appreciation to a current

or former instructor.

3. Help organize the gifts that are provided for the luncheon. Every

teacher and staff member will receive one by lottery.

4. Help set up on Sunday, January 27 at 2:00pm.

5. Help clean up after lunches end on January 28.

6. Help serve on the day of the luncheon during one of the lunch periods.

7. Send a dessert to be served at the lunch. (Deliver to office on Monday

morning.)
