After moving to Las Vegas at the age of 15—and many years of working six shows a night, six nights a week at the lounge of the Fremont Hotel & Casino—Mr. Las Vegas, Wayne Newton, purchased the first five acres of what is now Casa de Shenandoah in 1966. Over the years, Wayne bought the contiguous land as it was available, resulting in the 52 acres the estate consists of today. The property is a historic landmark that has welcomed presidents, kings and countless celebrities through its magnificent golden gates.

In fact, Elvis was known to slip out of his suite when playing Vegas and visit local friends – one such spot was none other than Casa de Shenandoah where the Newtons hosted the King for dinner. In 1989, Wayne bought a famous note that Elvis wrote and turned it into a #1 hit titled, “The Letter.” In Wayne’s display of memorabilia from his career, among the Elvis related items you will see is that original heartbreaking letter.

“The Midnight Idol”…“Mr. Las Vegas”…these are just two of the nicknames given to one of the last true legends performing on the Las Vegas strip – Wayne Newton. Wayne has been a staple on the

strip since he was a boy in the 1950’s. In his current show, Up Close and Personal, Wayne not

only sings (including his iconic hit “Danke Schoen”), plays many of his self-taught

instruments, but also goes through a one of a kind journey through the history of Las Vegas with personal photos, film footage, and rare

stories from the man who lived it. The show is exactly as its title implies…it is definitely up close and personal as Wayne performs in an intimate showroom and often ventures

into the crowd for kisses and to sing

to guests up close! As chairman of the

USO Celebrity Circle, he

spotlights veterans at every show. Wayne struck up friendships with

many entertainment legends, but his one with Elvis is one that he holds particularly dear.

Wayne has a segment in his show where he discusses this friendship… including the story of

dating the same woman at the same time! Also, Wayne includes several Elvis songs in his act

including, of course, “Viva Las Vegas!” Not only will you get to enjoy this special performance, but we have secured backstage passes for our group

so right after the show you will get to meet Wayne Newton personally!

The golden era of Las Vegas is slipping into history. As more and more iconic properties are closed down and imploded and legendary performers pass on or retire, the Las Vegas that so many loved for so long will soon fade away into the desert night. But there is still a whisper, and if you listen closely it

gets louder!

This summer King Productions turns up the volume and turns back the clock! From an iconic property, to penthouse Elvis parties, to an intimate evening with a Las Vegas legend…the golden era of Las Vegas lives! Join us to experience it in first class fashion!
