ExplanatoryDisneyland is a great place for a family vacation. The Location of

Disneyland can be an appeal to families. For those who live in Washington State, the plane ride to California is short compared to other family destinations such as Hawaii or Florida. California’s mild, but warm weather is also an attractive feature. Even on a winter trip, only a light coat is usually necessary. Plus, Disneyland is close to other attractions and theme parks, which means that families can extend their vacations to include Universal Studios or other destinations if they want. Even on its own, Disney has plenty of fun to offer. The characters can be fun to visit. Children can seek out pictures and autographs from their favorite characters. Families can even join the characters for meals. Of course the best part of a Disney vacation is the rides. They have rides for every age. For example, in Fantasyland, you can find rides based on Peter Pan, Dumbo, and Pinocchio, which the entire family will enjoy. Then, there are the more adventurous favorites for the older family members which include Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Indiana Jones, and so many more. Families can even get Fast Passes which will reduce the amount of time spent in line waiting for popular rides. Clearly, Disneyland is a fabulous choice for a family destination.

NarrativeAlthough I have taken many wonderful trips, Disneyland was my

favorite vacation. I love that Disneyland is located in California. Since I live in Washington State, the plane ride to California was short compared to other family destinations such as Hawaii or Florida. When we arrived, I found that the temperature was a mild 70 degrees. Since I am not a fan of extreme temperatures, California’s mild, but warm weather was perfect. Plus, since Disneyland is close to other attractions and theme parks, I knew that we would get to include Universal Studios in our trip too. Even on its own, Disney had plenty of fun to offer. When we entered the park, I immediately spotted Mickey Mouse; my favorite. I crowded around with the other kids as we had pictures taken. The next day, I was able to see so many other characters at the Minnie Mouse character breakfast. Of course the best part of my Disney vacation was the rides. Disney has rides for every age. For example, in Fantasyland, we went on the rides based on Peter Pan, Dumbo, and Pinocchio, which were perfect for my little brother. Although I do have to admit, I enjoyed those too. Then, there were the more adventurous ones that were my favorites: Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Indiana Jones, and so many more. We even got Fast Passes, which reduced the amount of time we spent waiting in lines. Clearly, Disneyland was a fabulous choice for my family destination.

Narrative:• SAME Step Up to Writing organization• Often organized by time or event (first, next,

finally)• You are usually the focus (though you will

likely be asked to take a different perspective--- “pretend you are…”)

• Use text to support and reinforce your perspective

what my people, the Mesopotamians, had to do. For a long time, life was good for us in the Zagros Mountains. Life was so good that our population grew beyond what our farmland could support. With people starving, our only option was to move to the plains of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers where land was plentiful. Although moving was the best choice for us, my fellow Sumerians I encountered three problems when we moved from the foothills of Zagros Mountains to the river plains of Mesopotamia. The problems we faced once we arrived in Sumer were ___________________, ___________________, and ____________________.

Clearly, we Sumerians faced many obstacles as we moved to the river plains. Dealing with the issues of ________________, __________________, and ________________________ were not easy, but in the end, Sumerians were left with a better life.

Listy…

In Sumer, our land was either too wet or too dry. Seasonal changes made it dry most of the year, but we also had some heavy rains and melting snow. The water in the spring caused flooding. It was unpredictable and plants washed away….

Not listy…

When my people and I arrived in Sumer, we did have more land for farming, but found that the land was either too wet or too dry. Seasonal changes made our ground dry and dusty most of the year, but the spring brought heavy rains and melted the snow, which flowed down to our river. The influx of water caused major flooding. Since we never new exactly when the floods would happen, our plants washed away…
