DAILY MASS Public Daily Mass resumes on Monday, December 14th.
The obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and holy days of
obligation CONTINUES TO BE LIFTED. You are not required to
attend Mass at this time. You are encouraged to keep the Lord’s Day holy
with prayer and reflection along with a possible viewing of a livestream
celebration of Mass. Here are some tips: UNITE WITH OTHERS. It's better not to follow the Mass alone, so
try to do so with your family.
CREATE THE RIGHT SETTING. Take care of the atmosphere in the
room. GET DRESSED. Dress for the occasion: you might be at home, but
leave the pajamas for bedtime. GO THROUGH THE MOTIONS. Try to attend the Mass as if you
were in church, standing when the Gospel is read, kneeling during the
consecration, etc. These gestures are full of meaning. PRAY AN ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION. Although you
can't receive Jesus in the Eucharist, you can pray a spiritual
communion. WHAT'S THE RUSH? Don't be in a hurry. The Mass has incredible value, and right now there
are so many things to pray for. Pray for a few moments after Mass has
ended to pray for everyone: the deceased, the sick, health professionals,
government officials and, of course, the Church, the Pope, our bishops and
your parish community.

FAMILY ADVENT WREATH
Advent and Christmas time are wonderful weeks in a family’s
life, but our focus on the coming of Jesus can get lost beneath
the surface glitter of the holiday season.
The Lighting of the Advent wreath before the family meal is a
way to focus on the Nativity of Our Lord and not just the
coming of the Christmas holiday.
This year make the Advent Wreath a family tradition in your
home. As you gather together for your family meal, light the
first, second and third candles and pray: “God of Wisdom, You
are the source of all truth. Help us remember to always turn
to you first when we are looking for answers. Help us to follow
the way of Christ, whose coming we await. Amen”
Kids Corner Tell me how you chose your Confirmation name:
The reason for my name Richard Joseph or RJ is because the
tradition in my Dad’s family is for the first son to be named
Richard. The middle name skips a generation. For example,
my Pop Pop Rick’s name was Richard Joseph. My Dad’s
name was Richard Peter. I was named after my. Pop Pop Rick,
who passed away before I was born. My son will be named
Richard Peter, after my Dad, who I miss very much.

A heartfelt “Thank You” to everyone who has been
supporting the parish financially, especially since the
Pandemic impacted our ability to be together. By mail,
drop off or in person we are overwhelmed by your
generosity. We are most grateful that you continue to
remember your parish and support us in any way.
We pray that 2021 brings us together again as a parish
family, filling our pews and emanating with the joyful
sounds of prayer, music and signing!
Today we celebrate the Third Sunday of Advent, Gaudete Sunday.
“Gaudete” is a Latin word, meaning “rejoice.” The Christian steward
should be characterized by a spirit of rejoicing.
Our First Reading, from Isaiah, expresses a fitting motto for us. “I
rejoice heartily in the Lord, in my God is the joy of my soul.” It is
God Who is the source of our joy and contentment — not things or
achievements or comfort, but our relationship with God.
This is why stewards can share so freely of their time, talents and
material possessions — because ultimately, we are not attached to
these things. We recognize them as good gifts from our loving
Father, but we are attached to the Giver of the gifts, not the gifts
themselves. This allows for great freedom in life and the capacity for
great joy in the Lord.
We can become like John the Baptist, in today's Gospel passage
from the Book of John. We read this description of the prophet: “He
came for testimony, to testify to the light... He was not the light but
came to testify to the light.” This is our calling too — to testify to the
Light, our wonderful Savior — by the way we make use of the time,
talent and treasure He has entrusted to our care.
When God Himself is the source of our joy, it cannot be taken
away from us. There is still time, this Advent season, to clear away
any “clutter” in our lives that may take our focus away from Him. Let
us strive to detach from any of these things so that we can be free to
truly rejoice in God on Christmas Day.

Youth Group Our Saintly Person: Saint Josephine Bakhita was only a girl when
she was stolen and sold into slavery... her body mutilated with
scarring and tattoos. She is a model of mercy and faith for us.
Although her lifetime was long ago her story of child trafficking and
slavery still endures today.
Our Monthly Virtue: JOY!!! it is a feeling of great pleasure and
happiness. How do we hold onto a joyful heart when things get
tough?? What gives us true joy?? How can we bring joy into others'
lives??
Points to Ponder: We are now in a HOPEFUL season of waiting for
Jesus... although this Christmas looks and feels a bit different than in
years past it is important to remember what this time of the year is
really about... take the time we have to focus on each other... bringing
Joy and Love to those right around us.
