The Bats trailed 1-0 heading to the sixth inning, but a home run from 1B Brandon Allen, his second of the series, gave the Bats a lead they would not relinquish. RHP Josh Smith earned his third win of the season, the first starter to get a win since LHP Cody Reed won on 5/1 vs. DUR. The bullpen had some trouble, particularly in the ninth inning, but RHP Jumbo Diaz was able to slam the door shut and earn his second save of the season. The Bats committed three errors, but outhit the Indians, the first time in the series they had done so. TRANSACTIONS: Today, the Reds announced that RHP J.J. Hoover was activated after being optioned from Cincinnati on Saturday. Also, OF Scott Schebler was activated as well. He was optioned following the Reds’ game on Saturday, when Cincinnati called up Bats’ RF Kyle Waldrop. JUST KEEP WINNING: Louisville has now swept, won, or split each of their last five series. After sweeping NOR and DUR on that six game road trip in the last week of April, the Bats split a weekend home series with DUR, before taking two of three from both NOR at home and IND at Victory Field this past weekend. The five series have totaled 14 games, and the Bats are 11-3 in those games. The Bats have now won seven of the nine full series that they have played this season. APRIL (SNOW) SHOWERS BRING MAY DOUBLE HEADERS: The Bats will play five games against TOL this week, making up one of the three postponements from Opening Weekend when Toledo was blanketed with a couple inches of snow. The double header today is the first of three to be played this season, with the other two scheduled 7/9 and 8/2. The Bats are just 1-5 against the Mud Hens this season, losing the first five before walking off in 11 innings on 4/17.
