STRESS MANAGEMENT
-A report and a reflection
‘Stress’ is a general term applied to various mental and physiological pressures experienced or felt
by people in their lives
The term ‘Stress’ has become an integral part of everyone’s life in the 21st century. From Children to
adults, all are familiar with the term and undergo it almost every day at some point in their lives.
But, how many of us actually sit back and think of ‘managing’ stress? Just how we manage our day
to day activities, stress can be managed in a similar manner, and within no time, we will realize that
we are ‘stress free’.
RBK International Academy realized the importance of helping students to manage their daily
activities at school and home without stress. On 4th December 2014, a session on stress
management was organized for grades 6 to DP2 where in a representative from Med Mondial gave
insightful information and secrets to the students to enjoy their studies, exams, daily activities
without stress.
Ms.Disha, representative from Med Mondial – Health and Awareness, made the students
acquainted with the bad in the society and how to manage and try to not be depressed. In my
opinion, it has been a very useful talk to spread awareness. Often teachers treat us with a lot of
homework and assignments to do in one day even some surprise tests. She gave us key secrets on
how not to be depressed and how to deal with our life with a new perspective.
8
MYP/DP
Some useful tips:
Often taking breaks
Not competing in competitive courses of our life
Talk to other people.eg- Moms, Dads basically the people who are close to our hearts.
Think of life in a positive way
These tips helped us in many ways and many hope it will be helpful in future generations to come.
I would like to thank our school for thinking from a students’ perspective and for organizing this
session to help us perform our activities with more confidence.

TOK FESTIVAL
O n 5th December, the MYP and DP teachers organized a Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Festival. The Festival intended to raise awareness about TOK by conducting fun activities for MYP and
DP students. The activities were conducted in their respective rooms.
Shivangi ma’am had asked me to set up an activity on the “Stroop Effect”. It is an illusion involving the interpretation of colours. So, I set up a Stroop Effect game for three players. In this game, the participants had to call out the colors of the patches out loud as fast as they can. Their time limit was only one minute. I enjoyed conducting the game because students were laughing (and also getting frustrated) at it.
Overall, I had a lot of fun during the TOK Festival. In the psychology room, I was surrounded by a lot of laughter and many smiles.

PRE-IBDP AND TOK FEST LEAVE STUDENTS MESMERIZED
I BDP introduction began on the 4th of December. Knowing the fact that grade 10 students had
scarce information regarding the IBDP curriculum, the school dedicated two days to inform
them. The first day included detailed subject information about the IBDP curriculum and the
second had games and interesting activities providing clear introduction to TOK. Students of grade
10 have always been unbelievably confused regarding their future and little knowledge of IBDP
didn’t make the situation better. During and after those two informative days however, abundant
information on subjects and their combinations diluted the confusion. They now have a clear idea
regarding IBDP.
On the 5th of December, which was the second day, IBDP teachers organised a TOK fest which was
part of the pre IBDP programme. The ToK fest was organised for the current IBDP students as well
as grade 10 students. In the TOK fest students were briefed about what TOK was all about. At first
when we were told about the fest I honestly thought that we were going to be loaded with several
presentations and lectures. Little did I know that my fear would become an incredible venture,
looking at how amazed I was with the kind of hard work our teachers had put in to make this TOK
fest a fun learning experience; and it was indeed a lot of fun. The teachers prepared skits, games
and much more to make this activity as enjoyable as possible. The teachers succeeded in doing so
as all of us thoroughly enjoyed the fest. The teachers put forth the idea of TOK to us in such an
innovative and creative manner that made understanding TOK easier. For each subject the teachers
either made us do activities or they themselves performed skits to make us understand the topic of
discussion better; either way resulted into interactive and enjoyable sessions. At the end of each
session, they highlighted knowledge relevant to the discussion and the activities, which we found
very interesting. I hope the teachers keep surprising us with such amazing ideas in improving our
understanding in future. I look forward for more fests like this one. It was a great and enjoyable
learning experience. Thanks to the teachers of IBDP.

RBK INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY HANDBOOK FOR BUS TRANSPORT
Introduction :
RBK International Academy provides a bus service to its students. The safety of the students is of
prime concern for the school and its community; hence a due diligent process is carried out to
contract the services thereof.
The buses are identified by the school logo and follow the regulations of the Maharashtra
Government (Road transport rules for schools). The buses ply on 12 routes and each bus has a
designated driver and bus mother selected by the bus provider with approval of the school
administration.
All the buses are equipped with a first aid box, an emergency exit door and an optional stepper for
the junior children requiring same.
For the current year, the school’s transport service provider is ‘ Mehta Travels’, and their
coordinator at school is Mr. Sundaram who can be contacted at: +91 9867 449612.
Parents and students using Bus Service must comply with the following:
The children are expected to reach their designated bus pick-up points a few minutes earlier (as
indicated by the bus coordinator) and not detain the driver as this has a cumulative effect on all
the other stops on the way resulting in the bus arriving late at school in the morning. If the
child has missed his/her bus, then it is the responsibility of the parent to get the student to
meet the bus at the next stop or bring the student directly to school. Neither the school nor the
bus transport provider will be held responsible for the student late arrival and or missing the
bus.
The school buses would not enter any by lane/building complex/society premises to pick up or
drop the children even at the vehement request of the parent. It is the responsibility of the
parent to adhere to strict pick-up and drop-off points, by bringing their child/ward to the
respective collection points. No such request will be entertained or entered into.
The children can be picked up /dropped at the next stop in case there is a delay by the parent/
guardian at the original pick-up point. This should happen only on rare occasions and will not
be a norm. In such cases due notice must be given to the Bus Mother via mobile communication
and not the Bus Driver as it is against the traffic regulations for the Bus Driver to use a mobile
phone while driving. Please take note of your Bus Driver and the respective Bus Mother.
11
The children should board the bus with caution; steppers will be available for junior students
shortly. Only children from grade 4 are allowed to sit in the front seat due to safety concerns
with regards to the seat belt fit.
The must remain seated at all times, while in transit until they reach their final destination
point. This is for their own safety as well as the safe control of the vehicle by the driver. Parents
are advised to caution their children with regards to this rule.
The students are not to indulge in altercations with the bus driver, bus mother and peers, nor to
use abusive language, destroy bus property (glass, upholstery, seats). Bullying of any kind
(verbal, nonverbal and physical) is indisputably not acceptable and is considered as a
punishable act by the school authorities.
If a complaint is received against a child with regards to any of the above, after an initial
warning, the parents would be asked to meet the principal to discuss further action and to find
amicable solutions. If repeated complaints become a norm for the particular student concerned,
the child would not be allowed to use the bus facility for a certain period or possibly
permanently depending on the severity of the misdemeanor.
The seat assigned by the bus mother /authority to the student has to be adhered to by the child.
Regular rotation of seats (weekly /fortnight /monthly) would be undertaken to ensure
compatibility and harmony amongst students for their safety as well as safe transit.
Children are expected to take care of their personal belongings (school bags, music instruments,
tiffin bags etc.) and the bus mother would not necessarily be helping the child with these items
nor will she or the school be held responsible for the loss of this property. It is the responsibility
of the parent/guardian to check that the child has all of his/her necessities before boarding the
bus as well as checking all of same is on his/her person when eliding the bus upon his/her
return
Cleanliness and hygiene has to be maintained at all times in the bus and in order to ensure that
these hygienic standards are maintained, regular inspections are carried out by school
administration as well as parents from time to time. Parents and student are encouraged to
bring to the notice of the school administration, should there be a waning of the hygienic
standards/safety/abuse/default etc. or any another issues that impact negatively on the safe
transit of our students.
12
Discipline for the Bus driver
The Bus driver is expected to reach on time at all the designated pick-up and drop off points.
His responsibility is to drive safely and cautiously and not to exceed 40 Kms/h as per road safety
regulations pertaining to the transit of School students in the State of Maharashtra, and use
courteous yet formal language when communicating with the parents, guardians and maids.
The same is expected in response to the drivers and Bus Mothers from parents and students.
The Bus Driver is not expected to wait or call on any parent to communicate that the child is
not at the pick-up point. The bus driver will proceed to the next pick up point. Parents are not
expected to call the Bus Driver to request that he wait for their student for a while as he/she is
almost ready. This will absolutely not be entertained.
The Bus Driver will not to attend phone calls from parents while driving the bus.
In the event of a breakdown, traffic jam or being stopped by the traffic control Officers for a bus
inspection, causing a delay in the drop off time, the Bus Driver is expected to contact the
Transport Coordinator, Mr. Sundaram who will then notify the respective parents of the delay.
In such instances, the parents may also contact the bus mother to enquire with regards the
delay in drop off. This stopping of school busses has become a regular feature, for the safety of
students in Mumbai. Please expect a delay from time to time in the afternoons as the inspection
of buses by the road traffic officers is beyond our control.
Discipline for the Bus mother
Every bus would have a Bus Mother to assist children on the bus.
Bus mothers are expected to answer phone calls from parents in case the bus is delayed in
arriving at a drop off or pick up points.
Bus mothers will not carry students to their classes and this instruction will no be entertained
from parents.
The bus mother will communicate in formal language to the students and parents.
The bus mother will maintain discipline in the bus at all times, hence the students are expected
to give her due respect.
No abusive language is permissible by the driver or bus mother.
Parent Bus Committee
The school now follows a system to have a coordinator (parent) appointed for every bus route.
The coordinator would help in maintaining a cordial relationship between the parents, students
and the school to address issues related to the bus service.
In case of an emergency at school, a team of coordinators would assist in the communication to
other parents.
It is the responsibility of the parent to ensure that the Bus Fee for the term/semester/month is
duly paid to the accounts department at the front office on time. Delay in payment will result in
your child not being picked up or dropped off nor will the child be allowed to use the bus
without due payment.

iEngineer - Course Description
iEngineer introduces students to simple machine concepts that help them understand the
mechanical aspects of building robots. The course involved building and learning Principle Models
like gears, levers, pulleys etc and moving on to Activities that involve building and testing working
models like Stop watch, Windmill, Walker etc.
The Principle Models let children experience the mechanical and structural principles normally
hidden away inside everyday machines and structures. The easy-to-build models each present a
hands-on demonstration of one of the concepts of simple machines, mechanisms and structures in a
clear, straight-forward manner. The Principle Models are a pathway for children to understand and
integrate mechanical and structural principles applied in their own models.
By progressing sequentially through the activities, using the Student Worksheets and Building
Instructions, children will experience and discover the principles at work and be challenged to apply
their knowledge when recording their results.
Towards the end of the course we shall introduce Problem-solving Challenges featuring real-life
settings with needs that cannot be solved in just one way. The Problem-solving Challenges are
