Issue 142
Dear Parents
A belated but very warm ―welcome back‖ for the autumn term.
Judging by holiday news received from the children, you all managed
to have a good break and travelled both far and near. It is amazing
how quickly we get back into the swing of things and I am delighted to
see how well the children have settled into their new classes and
routines. A special ―well done‖ to our new Nursery and Reception
children who have all made a very good start. It was also lovely to
meet many of our new parents at our recent parents’ reception (see
photographs overleaf)
Over the summer, while pupils and teachers had a well-earned break,
Ashton House was nonetheless far from quiet. Mr Turner took the
opportunity of continuing his programme of improvements for the
school which have included extensive refurbishment of the infant
toilets in No. 52 and the installation of new mini computer suites in
Reception and Year 1 classrooms. We are all now greatly enjoying
these developments and I understand these will be continuing over the
course of the coming year. Watch this space!
All parents will have by now had the opportunity of meeting their
child’s class teacher for our traditional ―start of year‖ discussion.
Please remember that we will also offer a drop-in session after school
on Friday 21st October if needed as well as the second formal parent
consultations in November. You should all have your child’s teacher
email address and of course additional appointments can be made via
the school office if necessary.
I have already sent out a letter drawing your attention to our PTA and
very much hope to gain plenty of support. Please return the slip to the
school office indicating whether or not you will be able to attend the
PTA AGM to be held in the school hall on Tuesday 11th October at 8
p.m. Our first special social event is our ever-popular Spooks and
Spells Halloween party on Friday 21st October. More news on that to
follow shortly.
Best wishes to you all for a happy and successful autumn term.

PARKING REMINDER
Can we remind you not to park your vehicles at ANY TIME over the entrances to the school. This causes
a parking hazard for our school bus and a danger to parents and children entering or leaving the school.
We have also received several complaints from our neighbours about parents parking across their
property therefore making it difficult for them to gain access. We are sure that you can appreciate that this
is unacceptable.
Therefore we would really welcome your cooperation to ensure that the safety of all of our children and
parents is of the utmost importance and that you consider our neighbours when parking your vehicle.
Simon Turner
Principal
SAFETY REMINDER
At the end of the school day once pupils are dismissed to parents and carers, parents and carers are
responsible for their children’s supervision and welfare. The majority of you leave once you have
collected your children but if for any reason you remain on school premises – perhaps waiting for an older
child - please ensure your children wait by your side and are not allowed to play in an uncontrolled
manner. Steps, walls, flowerbeds and neighbouring gardens are I am sure you will agree out of bounds.
There have been a couple of occasions last week when pupils were seen climbing on the wall in front of
the school and playing in the grounds of No. 48. This is clearly private property and it is important that we
maintain good relations with our neighbours. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this
important matter.

Head Teacher
UNIFORM REMINDER
A reminder that the school’s winter uniform must be worn on return to school after the half term
holiday on Monday 31st October.
Please ensure that your child has the correct and full school uniform and that all items of uniform are
named, where possible with sewn-in labels.
If you need to buy any new items of uniform please visit the school uniform shop:

SPORTS EVENTS Football
Hampton Boys 5-a-side Football Tournament
On Saturday 3rd September our Year 5 and Year 6 five-a-side
football teams represented Ashton House in the Hampton School
tournament. The children involved in the Year 6 team were Prem
Sodhi (Captain), Rohan Khanna, Sevak Sohi, Hafsa Saadiq, Jhosh
Gosai, Kurun Dutt and Gaurav Kharaud. The children involved in
the Year 5 team were Anoop Sandhu (Captain), Uzair Khan,
Ramneek Singh, Jaskeerat Singh, Blake Cullen, Himanish Joshi
and Lewis Ince. All children competed well and came away with a number of wins, creditable draws and
marginal loses against some very tough teams.
Ashton House v Danesfields Manor
On Friday 23rd September our Year 5 and Year 6 six-a-side teams competed against Danesfield Manor
School at the Goals Soccer Centre. Both teams competed extremely well with the Year 6 team achieving a
memorable win and had the Danesfield Year 5 team not had an outstanding striker, the score would have
been much closer. Well done to all children involved. The teams were: Year 6 - Prem Sodhi (Captain),
Davinjit Gill, Rohan Khanna, Sevak Sohi, Lewis Ince, Rajun Sembhi and Hafsa Saadiq. Year 5 - Anoop
Sandhu (Captain), Uzair Khan, Ramneek Singh, Jaskeerat Singh,
Bilal Saiyed, Blake Cullen, Hassan Mehr and Himanish Joshi.

Netball
Ashton House School V Danesfield Manor School
On Friday 16th September the Year 5 & 6 Netball Team
(Jaya (C), Anabel , Hafsa, Aaisha, Helena, Khushi,
Puneet, Donya) warmed up eagerly to play our first
match of the Autumn Term. Both teams looked quietly
confident but with a long practice break and a new team
I knew that the game could go any way. Ashton House
got off to a flying start, passing quickly and confidently
resulting in 3 superb early goals. Danesfield played well
in spurts but could not get past our excellent defence.
Ashton House dominated the 2nd Quarter with another 2
goals leaving Danesfield struggling to get back into the game. The 3rd Quarter saw Danesfield up their game
and claw back 2 goals. In the final Quarter we sealed our win with another 2 goals leaving the final score at
7-3 to Ashton House. A MASSIVE well done to the whole team and to Momin and Krishna for playing so
well in their first match.

UPDATES Junior Sports and Swimming
Both Friday sports afternoons at the Goals Soccer Centre / Grasshoppers and Tuesday afternoon swimming
lessons at Isleworth Recreation centre have started well this term. Well done to all our Junior children for a
fantastic start to both of these important aspects of our weekly timetable and particularly the Year 3 children
who are new to both.
Thank you to parents for ensuring the children have all the correct uniform so they can participate as
successfully as they have so far.

Children’s school records
If your child requires any medication whilst they are at school please ensure that a
parent/guardian brings the medication to the office and completes a School
Medicine Form. The medication will then be stored in the medical cabinet or
refrigerator as required. Long term medication such as inhalers or Epipens are kept
in the medical cabinet and administered as advised on the School Medicine Form.
All medication is labelled and teachers will always take medication on trips and
outings.
It is extremely important that you keep the school informed of any changes regarding your child whether it
be contact information changing or medical records. It is very important that we have the most accurate
records to ensure your child health and safety whilst at school.
Many thanks

NOTICES Lost Blazer
Please can all parents check their child’s blazers as Nikhal Nannar in Year 4 had a new blazer with his name
on and it is now missing. It went missing on Tuesday 20th September, all cloakrooms have been searched
and nothing has been handed into lost property. If you do find this please can you bring it into the office on
Monday so that it can be returned.
