RACING 1-2-3

KEY TO SYMBOLS

Top Rated: The horse with the best chance based solely on past form, specially tailored to a 0-100 scale.

Horses For Courses: A suitable track for the horse, compared to its lifetime record on similar courses as defined by Timeform’s course data.

Jockey Uplift: The engaged rider has a notably higher Timeform Jockey Ranking than those who’ve ridden the horse on its most recent starts

Trainer Form: A hot trainer to follow, based on Timeform ratings-related measurements looking at the recent performance of runners.

Going: Heavy (Soft in places)

Naas is a left-handed track of about one and a half miles. It is very much a galloping track and has a stiff four-furlong straight. There is a two-furlong chute at the entrance to the straight that allows for five- and six-furlong races to be run on a straight course. Medium to high stalls have fared best in recent years.

Draw: N/A Pace Information: Insufficient Data

1 7 JAZZ DREAMERS (IRE) 83 2 9-7 | 60.3kg Seamus Fahey, Ireland N. G. McCullagh Foaled May 5. €2,300 yearling, Red Jazz colt. Dam unraced half-sister to useful 1m winner (stayed 10.5f) Robemaker. Wouldn’t be an obvious contender first time up on paper.

2 8 LIPIZZANER (USA) 100 2 9-7 | 60.3kg Aidan O’Brien, Ireland Seamie Heffernan Foaled March 22. £650,000 yearling, Uncle Mo colt. Dam Australian 5.5f-1m (Australian 1000 Guineas) winner. Mighty yard’s first 4 juvenile runners in 2019 all won on debut. Plenty to like.

3 5 POETIC FLARE (IRE) 89 2 9-7 | 60.3kg J. S. Bolger, Ireland K. J. Manning Foaled March 26. Plenty of stamina in his pedigree, though represents yard who used to dominate this maiden (sire won it in 2012). Jim Bolger also runs Allagar.

4 2 THE BLUE PANTHER (IRE) 84 2 9-7 | 60.3kg Michael Fitzsimons, Ireland G. F. Carroll Foaled April 12. €15,000 foal, €4,000 yearling, Buratino colt. Half-brother to several winners, including smart/unreliable 1m winner Al Farahidi and 7f winner Bank of Gibraltar.

5 1 ALLAGAR (IRE) 87 2 9-2 | 58.1kg J. S. Bolger, Ireland R. P. Cleary Foaled March 27. Vocalised filly. Dam maiden (stayed 2m). 1 of 2 runners for yard who have enjoyed plenty of success in this first Irish 2-y-o race.

6 4 BOASTING (IRE) 85 2 9-2 | 58.1kg A. Slattery, Ireland A. J. Slattery (5lb/2kg) Foaled February 18. €9,000 yearling, Prince of Lir filly. Half-sister to 2-y-o 1m winner El Morro. Yard had a good time of it with their 2-y-os in 2019 so she could show up well.

7 6 FOREVER MY GIRL (IRE) h 84 2 9-2 | 58.1kg Brian Nolan, Ireland W. T. Byrne (7lb/3kg) Foaled March 27. Half-sister to 7.3f/1m winner Keep Believing and 2-y-o 5f winner Danielles Diamond. Dam won an early-season maiden on 2-y-o debut. Could take a hand.

8 3 MARKETTA (IRE) 86 2 9-2 | 58.1kg Brendan Duke, Ireland R. P. Whelan Foaled April 17. €1,000 yearling. Half-sister to several winners, including 2-y-o 5.3f/6f winner Dougal and 5f winner Red Army Blues. Yard had the second in this last year and the winner in 2018.

BETTING FORECAST:13-8 Lipizzaner, 5-1 Poetic Flare, 7-1 Allagar, 17-2 Marketta, 11-1 Boasting, 14-1 Forever My Girl, 16-1 The Blue Panther, 25-1 Jazz Dreamers

TIMEFORM VIEW:Any market movers need taking seriously but it’s significant that LIPIZZANER is out so early for Ballydoyle. Aidan O’Brien’s first 4 juvenile runners last season all won on debut and this well-bred colt ticks all the right boxes. Brendan Duke sent out the winner of this in 2018 and had the second last year, so Marketta is interesting. Poetic Flare looks the pick of the Bolger pair on paper.

Draw: Favours Low Pace Information: Insufficient Data

1 2 ROUNDEL 88 4 10-6 | 66.2kg Denis Hogan, Ireland J. M. Sheridan (7lb/3kg) £18,000 3-y-o, Dawn Approach gelding. Half-brother to 2-y-o 1m winner Commemorative and 6f winner Shoreditch, both useful. Worth a precautionary market check on debut.

2 18 STORMY PASS (IRE) 89 4 10-1 | 64.0kg Sarah Lynam, Ireland Emmet McNamara €25,000 yearling, Raven’s Pass filly. Dam unraced half-sister to useful 2-y-o 7f winner Luminous Eyes.

3 4 TOOCLOSETOCALL (IRE) (24) 750 4 10-1 | 64.0kg Patrick J. Flynn, Ireland C. P. Hoban Canford Cliffs filly who was sent off at 66/1 and showed next to nothing on racecourse debut at Dundalk last month.

4 12 BLUE RAVEN (IRE) 79 3 9-7 | 60.3kg M. C. Grassick, Ireland William James Lee €4,000 yearling, Raven’s Pass gelding. Dam, 5f winner who stayed 7f, half-sister to smart winner up to 1m Mythical Magic.

5 7 DREAMING GOLD 88 3 9-7 | 60.3kg Denis Hogan, Ireland A. M. Glynn (7lb/3kg) £10,000 2-y-o, Shamardal colt. Dam, 9.5f winner, sister to very smart winner up to 1½m Monitor Closely and half-sister to high-class winner up to 1¼m Mount Nelson. Yard also saddle Roundel.

6 9 DUMBLEDORE 88 3 9-7 | 60.3kg Augustine Leahy, Ireland R. P. Whelan 6,000 gns foal, Equiano gelding. Dam maiden (may have proven best short of 1¼m). Likely best watched unless market vibes were particularly positive.

7 11 ECCLESIASTICAL (259) 8965- 3 9-7 | 60.3kg T. G. McCourt, Ireland C. T. Keane Pastoral Pursuits colt who was well backed on the back of his debut but he failed to progress when midfield in a Windsor minor event in July. Switched yard since but booking of Keane catches the eye.

8 20 ELZAAMONE (IRE) 79 3 9-7 | 60.3kg Niall Thomas Egan, Ireland R. C. Colgan €7,000 yearling, Elzaam colt. Half-brother to 6f winner Born Innocent. Dam lightly-raced half-sister to ungenuine winner up to 6f Rock Jock and 1m-1¼m winner Breden (both useful).

9 6 FOOL PROOF (IRE) (45) 798-0 3 9-7 | 60.3kg J. J. Feane, Ireland M. A. Enright Limited impact either start on turf/AW 9 months apart at 5f and he can only be watched here.

10 14 GRIZZLY (IRE) (162) t 924- 3 9-7 | 60.3kg Mrs J. Harrington, Ireland Shane Foley Kodiac gelding who offered something to work on when 6 lengths fourth of 13 on debut in a 6f Curragh maiden in October. Type to improve for that experience having been gelded.

11 19 KNIGHT OF MALTA (USA) (155) 1004- 3 9-7 | 60.3kg Aidan O’Brien, Ireland Seamie Heffernan Brother to 7f winner Darkness Falls and out of Oaks heroine Was. Easy to back but showed ability when fourth in a C&D maiden last autumn and he’s sure to improve.

12 5 SHEER BRAVADO (IRE) 91 3 9-7 | 60.3kg J. S. Bolger, Ireland K. J. Manning Fracas colt out of an unraced dam. Yard more than capable of readying a newcomer, so well worth a check in the betting for clues.

13 13 SIN E SHEKELLS 88 3 9-7 | 60.3kg Denis Hogan, Ireland James J. Doyle Bated Breath gelding. Dam, 1m winner, half-sister to 2-y-o 5f winner Limetree Lady. One of 3 representatives from this yard and the betting should prove a useful guide.

14 3 WOODFORD GENERAL (IRE) (141) 90884- 3 9-7 | 60.3kg Kieran Patrick Cotter, Ireland Ben Martin Coen (3lb/1kg) Gutaifan gelding who progressed gradually in trio of starts as a juvenile, 2 lengths fourth in a big-field C&D maiden in November. Conditions will hold no fears and he’s no forlorn hope here.

15 10 ESHTIYA (IRE) 93 3 9-2 | 58.1kg D. K. Weld, Ireland Oisin James Orr Dark Angel filly. Dam, 1m winner, half-sister to smart winner up to 1½m Eziyra. Yard’s newcomers always command respect and well worth a second look on debut. (Holds a Guineas entry).

16 15 GETAWIGGLEON (FR) (207) 900835375- 3 9-2 | 58.1kg David J. Geary, Ireland C. D. Maxwell (3lb/1kg) Fair filly who ran up to her best when fifth of 13 in a Tipperary maiden (7.5f) back in August. Drop in trip will hold no fears on balance but suspicion she will prove vulnerable to improvers.

17 17 MISTERIO (IRE) (45) 889 3 9-2 | 58.1kg John Patrick Murtagh, Ireland N. G. McCullagh Society Rock filly who was easy to back and looked badly in need of her debut experience at Dundalk early last month. This should reveal more.

18 21 RED BALL OF FIRE (IRE) 89 3 9-2 | 58.1kg Edward Lynam, Ireland Declan McDonogh Canford Cliffs filly. Dam, 1m winner, half-sister to useful sprinter Astrophysics.

19 1 SWEETTASTEOFLOVE (IRE) (122) 6060- 3 9-7 | 60.3kg J. A. Stack, Ireland Reserve Power gelding who was well beaten both starts in 2-y-o maidens and he rates a likely type for low-grade handicaps in due course. RESERVE.

20 8 SANSEVERO CHAPEL (IRE) (141) 6080- 3 9-7 | 60.3kg Thomas Mullins, Ireland Reserve Well held in a couple of C&D maidens towards the back end of last term and best watched on return to action. RESERVE.

TIMEFORM VIEW:KNIGHT OF MALTA proved easy to back when fourth behind his winning stablemate in a C&D maiden on debut back in the autumn, yet his effort contained plenty of promise, and with improvement highly likely he’s taken to come out on top. Grizzly similarly shaped well on his sole start as a 2-y-o and having been gelded is feared, along with newcomer Eshtiya and Woodford General.

1 4 HATHIQ (IRE) (31) (D) t 981100108-9 6 10-0 | 63.5kg Denis Hogan, Ireland J. M. Sheridan (7lb/3kg) Enjoyed a productive 2019 upon joining present stable, adding a third handicap success to his tally at Tipperary (5f) in August. Seemingly not 100% on AW return last month and this should reveal more.

2 13 TITANIUM SKY (IRE) (143) 9616428304- 4 9-13 | 63.0kg D. K. Weld, Ireland A. J. Slattery (5lb/2kg) Useful filly who ended last season with a creditable fourth in a 1m listed race on AW in November. Entitled to hold an even better chance now handicapping but the drop in trip is a concern.

3 8 ARCANEARS (IRE) (66) (D) 97953152-21 5 9-9 | 61.2kg M. Halford, Ireland Liam Browne (10lb/5kg) Winless on turf last season but arrives on the back of a productive spell on AW, adding to his tally over 6f at Dundalk in January. Fitness assured and claims with conditions holding no fears.

4 6 MARY SALOME (IRE) (152) (D) 9866250030- 4 9-3 | 58.5kg Madeleine Tylicki, Ireland G. F. Carroll Dual winner at sprint trips who bounced back to form when third at Cork (6f, heavy) back in October. However, merely underlined inconsistency at Navan later that month. Absent since.

5 5 MOKHALAD (141) (CD) t 10061500844- 7 9-2 | 58.1kg Damian Joseph English, Ireland C. T. Keane Three-time winner in handicaps last term and far from disgraced on each of his last 2 starts to end the campaign. Gone well fresh in the past so one to consider.

6 14 FASTAR (IRE) (104) 9984280641- 6 9-1 | 57.6kg G. O’Leary, Ireland Shane Foley Matched the pick of his form from turf earlier in the year when landing a 9-runner Wolverhampton handicap (7f) in December. Has plenty of form with give underfoot, so claims from revised mark.

7 7 JUYUSH (352) 9716/0- 5 9-1 | 57.6kg

Peter Fahey, Ireland K. J. Manning Landed a French minor event (6.7f, heavy) during early 2018. Possible first run was needed for 11 months on yard debut last April but hard to assess how he’ll figure on back of another absence.

8 3 DARK VADER (IRE) (10) (D) 9942414-121 3 9-0 | 57.2kg Joseph Patrick O’Brien, Ireland D. B. McMonagle (7lb/3kg) Useful colt who continues to go the right way, adding another AW success to the tally at Dundalk (6f) 10 days ago. Claims if proving as effective under these different conditions.

9 1 SENDMYLOVETOYOU (IRE) (152) (D) 98140- 4 8-13 | 56.7kg M. Halford, Ireland R. P. Whelan Caused a surprise when landing a big-field maiden at the Curragh (6f) back in August and ran well when fourth on handicap debut next time. Well beaten final start but he remains low-mileage.

10 11 MR SCARLET (66) (C) t 968/000004-5 6 8-12 | 56.2kg Ms Sheila Lavery, Ireland R. C. Colgan Strike rate is disappointing and whilst his exploits on AW were respectable around the turn of the year, he’s no sure thing to be in the same form back on turf.

11 2 ROYAL CANFORD (IRE) (152) (D) v 9642582105- 4 8-12 | 56.2kg W. McCreery, Ireland William James Lee Belatedly shed maiden tag in a big-field Curragh maiden (6f) in September. Similar form when fifth over 5.7f at Navan handicap thereafter and each-way claims.

12 12 TRESORIER (149) (D) 9950/840532- 6 8-11 | 55.8kg J. J. Feane, Ireland M. A. Enright Ended last season with a string of consistent efforts, just touched off in a 7f Leopardstown handicap in October, noted finishing well. Losing run is an obvious concern on return, however.

13 9 SCORCHING HEAT (152) (D) v 944/570000- 6 8-10 | 55.3kg Adrian McGuinness, Ireland Declan McDonogh Went the wrong way from a promising enough return to action last summer and hopes pinned on a break/first time visor having a positive effect here.

14 10 STARLITE DANCER (IRE) (152) s 9600234073- 4 8-6 | 53.5kg J. A. Stack, Ireland C. D. Hayes Fair sort who made significant late gains on the back of a tardy start when 2 lengths third in a Navan maiden (5.7f) in October. Needs to keep the slow starting at bay to figure here, however.

TIMEFORM VIEW:MOKHALAD enjoyed a productive start to 2019 and, having ended the campaign with a couple of good runs, he could well be the answer on return from his reduced mark with Colin Keane back up. Arcanears and Dark Vader are others fancied to feature.

1 2 FAN CLUB RULES (IRE) (236) 92219444- 3 10-0 | 63.5kg Luke Comer, Ireland D. B. McMonagle (7lb/3kg) Sprint maiden winner in France last year and ran well in Group 2/3s in the summer. Cost a bit for new connections but has stamina to prove on handicap debut after 7 months off.

2 9 REAL APPEAL (GER) (182) 9411210745- 3 9-7 | 60.3kg J. S. Bolger, Ireland K. J. Manning Won 3 of his first 4 starts at up to 6f in France before changing hands for £265,000 on the eve of Royal Ascot. Didn’t really kick on for new yard after and has been gelded over the winter. New trip.

3 14 CAMACHITA (IRE) (156) (D) 94428214- 3 9-4 | 59.0kg John Patrick Murtagh, Ireland D. E. Sheehy (5lb/2kg) Stamina proven having won 7f Dundalk maiden in October. Heavy ground fine also and could be capable of a big run if ready to go as she’s bred to get even better with age.

4 5 HONG KONG (USA) (142) (C) b 10078217- 3 9-0 | 57.2kg Aidan O’Brien, Ireland Seamie Heffernan Million-dollar half-brother to Caravaggio who won 6f maiden in similar conditions here in October in blinkers. Proved his stamina for 7f before that and bred to be a lot better than a mark of 88.

5 6 THE KING OF KELLS (IRE) (10) 986212011-3 3 8-12 | 56.2kg Michael Mulvany, Ireland G. F. Carroll Did well at 2 yrs, winning 3 times around 6f, including on heavy ground. Pleasing return at Dundalk and has race-fitness on his side but others could prove to be stronger stayers here.

7 13 THE PECKHAMPOUNCER (IRE) (220) 97342317- 3 8-11 | 55.8kg D. Broad, Ireland R. C. Colgan Won small-field 5f Tipperary nursery last summer. Some of his juvenile form reads very well and the dam improved to win over this trip at 3 yrs. Interesting.

8 1 LUSTOWN BABA (IRE) (152) (CD) 9576113- 3 8-10 | 55.3kg W. McCreery, Ireland N. M. Crosse (5lb/2kg) Dual winner at 2 yrs on heavy ground, including conditions event over C&D. Has a likeable way of going about things and she could have more to offer in 2020.

9 10 JUSTINA (IRE) (233) (D, BF) 99124- 3 8-6 | 53.5kg Mrs J. Harrington, Ireland Shane Foley Successful debut in Roscommon maiden over this trip last summer and improved in defeat subsequently. Remains with potential now starting out 3-y-o campaign.

10 8 IN FROM THE COLD (IRE) (141) (CD) 9733642421- 3 8-6 | 53.5kg Michael Mulvany, Ireland C. D. Hayes Held his form well in the face of a busy juvenile campaign, signing off with victory in C&D nursery in the mud. Will need to improve now taking on unexposed rivals on return but it isn’t ruled out.

11 11 CARDINAL RULE (IRE) (138) s 94557- 3 8-6 | 53.5kg F. Flood, Ireland C. P. Hoban Fair form in maidens at up to 1m in the autumn. Cheekpieces fitted on return/handicap debut for new yard and could find a race, though bred for a much stiffer test than this.

12 4 WILD CHERRY (IRE) (155) 91504- 3 8-6 | 53.5kg J. J. Feane, Ireland A. J. Slattery (5lb/2kg) Fair form in 6f/7f maidens in the autumn and bred to do better in handicaps this year, especially over longer distances.

13 3 BELLA BRAZIL (IRE) (59) (D, BF) 92548571-20 3 8-6 | 53.5kg Mrs J. Harrington, Ireland T. P. Madden Successful twice at up to 7f in 2019 (including on debut for this yard at Kempton), but needs to cast aside a poor run from when last seen 2 months ago and others probably better-handicapped anyway.

14 7 VARNA GOLD (IRE) (59) 887363-89 3 8-6 | 53.5kg Dermot Anthony McLoughlin, Ireland M. P. Sheehy (7lb/3kg) Modest maiden who wasn’t threatening to break his duck at Dundalk when last seen in January. Uphill task on turf debut.

TIMEFORM VIEW:Johnny Murtagh’s runners continue in good form and CAMACHITA could be worth chancing to make a successful return. Conditions and the trip are fine and she could have more to offer this term. Hong Kong, who holds a Guineas entry, is bred to be much better than a mark of 88 now starting out in 3-y-o handicaps and is an obvious player. The Peckhampouncer is one to note at likely bigger odds.

Draw: N/A Pace Information: Weak

1 2 SIR DRAGONET (IRE) (191) 10011544- 4 9-12 | 62.6kg Aidan O’Brien, Ireland Seamie Heffernan Very smart performer who landed first 2 starts prior to a cracking fifth in last year’s Epsom Derby. Stamina stretched when fourth in St Leger final start and very much the one to beat on return.

2 7 INSIGNIA OF RANK (IRE) (24) (D) b 911900489-5 5 9-10 | 61.7kg Joseph G. Murphy, Ireland G. F. Carroll Useful gelding who scored twice last term, including a 1m listed event. Mixed bag thereafter but entitled to sharpen up for his spin on AW last month. Blinkers refitted.

3 4 BROGUE (318) (D) 821- 4 9-7 | 60.3kg D. K. Weld, Ireland Oisin James Orr Low-mileage Frankel colt who defied relative market weakness to make a winning debut in a Cork maiden (10f) last May, getting the job done cosily. Looks sure to progress if all is well.

4 3 HALIMI (IRE) (141) (CD) s 9111373123- 4 9-7 | 60.3kg J. S. Bolger, Ireland K. J. Manning Likeable sort who added a third success to his tally over C&D in October. Cracking pair of placed efforts thereafter and no surprise to see him give another good account of himself on return.

5 5 NICKAJACK CAVE (IRE) (163) (D) 931212553- 4 9-7 | 60.3kg G. M. Lyons, Ireland C. T. Keane Dual scorer at 10f who ran best race to date when 2 lengths third of 8 in a 12.5f listed event in October, the improvement coming alongside encountering heavy ground for the first time. Place claims.

6 6 NUMERIAN (IRE) (178) 9621356322- 4 9-7 | 60.3kg Joseph Patrick O’Brien, Ireland Declan McDonogh Both victories gained on AW but even better form in defeat last term when placed in competitive turf handicaps/Group contests. First go on heavy ground on return having been gelded. Interesting.

7 1 SATISFY (IRE) (179) 750/0580- 6 9-2 | 58.1kg B. A. Murphy, Ireland Shane Foley Fairly useful mare but her sole victory to date came in a small-field Leicester handicap back in 2017 and expected to find this too tough.

BETTING FORECAST:4-5 Sir Dragonet, 5-1 Brogue, 6-1 Numerian, 11-1 Nickajack Cave, 12-1 Halimi, 40-1 bar

TIMEFORM VIEW:SIR DRAGONET, a fine close-fifth in the Epsom Derby, went well for a long way in the St Leger before finding his stamina stretched when last seen. He’s still relatively unexposed and this looks an ideal starting point to his 4-y-o campaign. Brogue is a fascinating contender on the back of his debut success last May and heads the dangers with Numerian.

1 4 HAMARIYNA (IRE) (271) (D) 943118- 4 10-2 | 64.4kg M. Halford, Ireland R. P. Whelan Made a bright start last season, winning 9f Tipperary maiden and Leopardstown 1,000 Guineas Trial. Not seen since flopping in the Oaks Trial here in June but worth keeping positive about on return.

2 9 ANNIE FIOR (IRE) (73) (D) 945587300-5 6 9-13 | 63.0kg B. A. Murphy, Ireland Adam Farragher Useful mare, successful 3 times around 7f/1m last season, but would be a surprise winner of this.

3 7 CERRO BAYO (IRE) (217) 771- 4 9-13 | 63.0kg J. S. Bolger, Ireland K. J. Manning From a good family and overcame extreme greenness to make a winning debut at Roscommon (10.3f, soft) on debut last summer. Form doesn’t amount to much but she’s open to improvement.

4 1 KISS FOR A JEWEL (IRE) (155) s 942/234110- 4 9-13 | 63.0kg D. K. Weld, Ireland Oisin James Orr Improved to win twice at up to 10f in the mud last summer with cheekpieces applied. More needed on the bare form to take this but runners from yard in these sort of races always worth a second look.

5 6 BLISSFUL (IRE) (178) (D) 99772116- 3 8-11 | 55.8kg Aidan O’Brien, Ireland W. M. Lordan Certainly wasn’t one of the star 2-y-os for Ballydoyle last season but did win twice around 7f before flopping in the Rockfel final start. Holds all the Classic entries and may not have peaked.

6 3 EVEN SO (IRE) (179) (D) 10031- 3 8-11 | 55.8kg G. M. Lyons, Ireland C. T. Keane Huge eye-catcher behind Blissful on debut before running out a ready winner of 1m Gowran maiden under more positive tactics in September. Classic entries and plenty more to come from her.

7 8 LEMISTA (IRE) (161) (D) 92451- 3 8-11 | 55.8kg G. M. Lyons, Ireland C. D. Hayes Signed off 2-y-o campaign with impressive success in 1m Gowran maiden in the mud in October. No future big-race entries but good chance she has more improvement to come.

8 5 MISS MYERS (IRE) (155) 82016- 3 8-11 | 55.8kg M. C. Grassick, Ireland R. C. Colgan Won 6.7f heavy-ground maiden at Limerick in October for Thomas Mullins but flopped in minor event here next time. New yard and plenty of improvement needed to justify her Guineas/Oaks entries.

9 2 RAVEN’S CRY (IRE) (191) (D, BF) 942117- 3 8-11 | 55.8kg P. Twomey, Ireland William James Lee Won 7f Galway maiden and extended 1m Killarney event last summer. Retains potential, not least for when stepped up further in trip this year (holds Oaks entry and dam was a winner over that trip).

TIMEFORM VIEW:There is plenty more to come from EVEN SO and she’s taken to make a successful return before having her sights raised even higher. Blissful wouldn’t be the first to leave her juvenile form well behind in her second season for Ballydoyle and she could be set for a big run. Ger Lyons has another interesting runner in Lemista in a Group 3 the Classic generation could dominate.
