PARENT OPINION SURVEY

Each year all Victorian schools conduct a Parent Opinion Survey of 15 per cent of the school community. Parents are randomly selected to participate and information collected is used to inform and direct our future school planning and improvement. All responses are completely confidential.

The survey is designed to take no more than 20 minutes to complete and your feedback and opinions play an important role in making our school the best it can possibly be.

If you have been randomly selected to complete the opinion survey you would have received a package and in-formation last Monday. ALL INFORMATION MUST BE RETURNED TO THE OFFICE THIS WEEK. I ask that if you do receive a survey to complete that you please complete it as openly and honestly as you can. If you need support in completing your survey please contact our office staff for assistance.

How we would like everyone to behave

STOP , THINK, DO

All the 5/6 hub had to wake up very early in the morning to get to school at 7:15 in the morning, we were on bus for two hours on our way to Melbourne.

First stop for Ms Smethurst’ s group was Victoria’s Parliament House. Anabel was our Guide, she was very knowl-edgeable. It was very exciting because we got to pretend debate on whether we should have one hour of screen time a day but the people on the opposite side, who didn’t want it, won the debate. Joel was the Speaker of the House for our debate.

Second stop for Miss Smethurst’s group was the Old Melbourne Gaol. Ian was our guide and he was fun, we all enjoyed it. We saw where Ned Kelly was hung. We learnt a lot about him, we all got spooked when we saw a man in a cell moving around. But we all enjoyed the day

Mrs Ryan’s group went to visit the Old Melbourne Gaol first. Jess was our Guide at the Gaol. Then to Parliament House. Pablo was their Guide. We were amazed at all the GOLD decorations in both the Red Room and the Green Room. They went on a tram ride from Parliament House to King Street and back to the Parliament House.

Miss Smethurst’s group ate their snack and lunch on the steps of Parliament House – not a spot they’d get to sit each day.

We’d like to say a big thankyou to Miss Smethurst for planning this wonderful day, and to Mr Northe, our local Member of Parliament and the Lions Club of Morwell who both assisted with donating $1000 to school to assist us with the cost of the excursion.

PREPS ‘100 DAYS OF SCHOOL’ CELEBRATIONS

On Tuesday 26th the Junior Unit celebrated 100 days of school. We have been counting the number of days since we have started school as part of our Math's sessions to assist with number recognition, counting and place value knowledge. We have looked at the different ways we can make 100 and the children were encouraged to bring in collections of 100 for us to count.

Some of the activities on the day included reading 100 books, putting 100 spots on the dog and first to 100. We also made hats, which the children paraded in front of the school.
