CHARTER PLANNER
For the yachting cognoscenti, the Côte d’Azur
runs from St Tropez to Monte Carlo.
The beauty of the land is matched only by
the men, women and, of course, the yachts.
St Tropez’s Pampelonne beach, between
the islands off Cannes, the finger of land
that forms Cap Ferrat and Villefranche and
that bastion of styleMonteCarlo – theseplaces
have an allure that makes everyone part of
a scene that never stops.
The Monaco Grand Prix, the Cannes film
festival, the fireworks and fun – life on a yacht
enhances them all.
1OTODO
Tetou – the bouillabaisse capital
of the world.
Moulin de Mougins – still a treat.
Spoon – dine under the trees with
Monsieur Ducasse.
Château Eza – the most romantic
table on the Cote.
Between the islands off Cannes –
the yacht emporium.
The Givenchy Spa at the Martinez.
Ylang massage.
St Tropez beach clubs - Nikki beach
for fun, 55 for who’s who.
Place des Lices – St Tropez market.
Wander through the bric a brac.
Les Caves du Roi – The club, the
scene, you must.
Kronometry – Is that the time?
Shop on La Croisette, Cannes.

Italy’s west coast has three regions to
consider. Portofino round to Cinque Terre
is elegant, sophisticated and the epitome
of smart set Italiano.
The Neapolitan coast has Capri, Ischia,
Amalfi, Ravello and Positano – places of
stunning natural beauty, enhanced by a
yacht that allows you to escape the crowds.
Sicily and the Lipari islands are wild and
simple with some of the oldest traditions in
Europe and brilliant cruising waters.
Add in Corsica and Sardinia and you
are spoilt for choice.
1OTODO
Gianni Pedrinelli – still the top table
in Porto Cervo
Le Belvedere – spectacular food
in spectacular Bonifacio
Rosellini – 2 Michelin stars,
1000ft high, Ravello
La Sponda – so atmospheric,
La Sirenuse Positano
Portofino – anchor, shop and dine
in Europe’s prettiest port
Forte Di Marme – kilometres of
chic Italian beach clubs.
Capri’s Via Camerelle –
shopping heaven.
Wager opera in the gardens –
Villa Rufolo, Ravello.
Maddelena Islands – just go there.
Sardinia, Baia Chia – a beach off
the scale of excellent.

Greece and Turkey are often banded
together as one cruising ground but in
reality, the two are startlingly different.
Turkey’s Datça Peninsula is Europe’s
most underrated coastline. Greek island
charms continue to improve and Santorini
and Mykonos are as fun as anything in the
Balearics. In particular, Santorini’s sunken
volcano bay is a spectacular achorage.
Croatia has over 1,000 islands of every
size and shape. Our recommendation is an
itinerary that takes in the islands of Hvar
and Viz and mainland capital, Dubrovnik.
1OTODO
1800 – the art of food, Oia, Santorini
Sea Satin – Under the windmills,
gourmet taverna – Mykonos
The 4 Ks of Turkey – Kalkan, Kaas,
Kekova, Kale, see one see all.
Olu Deniz – so incredibly pretty.
Turkbuku – A bay of plenty
(of everything), Bodrum.
Dalyan – Cruise up river to the
Lycian tombs.
Hvar and Viz – where the feelgood
factor still exists.
Diocletian Palace – history, shopping,
dining, Split.
Santorini – the entire island makes
a spectacle of itself.
Hydra – No cars, few mobiles,
friendly chic.

PARAFFIN
Unquestionablyone of the most
highly-rated Feadshipsof the last decade.
19
A PARTICULARLY FINE FEADSHIP, Paraffin is one of the original members of the
1000GRT 60 metre club. With so much interior space she is a particularly comfortable
long-range cruising yacht. Two highly successful circumnavigations prove her ability
to traverse oceans with consummate ease.
Paraffin superbly suits everyday living as opposed to being merely an occasional
home. Her fitness centre includes a huge glass-enclosed gymnasium and a beauty
and hair salon. Steps lead up to a very private sunbathing enclave.
Saloon and dining areas at every level, a recording studio, home cinema, wine
cellar and a large aft deck bar, all contribute to gracious living. Magnificent mahogany
panelling has been used throughout the yacht.
The full-beam master suite has a full-beam onyx bathroom and walk-in closets.
All cabins are generously sized and superbly comfortable.
On the basis of build quality, volume, power and comfort, Paraffin must make
any shortlist. For further information contact Diego Marroquin, +1 212 792 5370,

ULTIMA III
21
FOR MANY YEARS Ultima III has been one of the most admired yachts of the
St Barths scene – she is, quite simply, one of the finest in the world. This is the
shipyard Abeking & Rasmussen at their very best – a brilliant combination of
length and beam creates a yacht with remarkable volume.
Ultima III’s engineering excellence is combined with distinctive exterior design
by Don Starkey. The deep curvaceous hull, huge glazed areas and architectural
features such as the winged radar arch, result in a serene shape and style.
Interiors get changed, fundamentals remain – Ultima III is at the top of her league
and her price reflects her quality. For further information contact Diego Marroquin,

CHRIS CECIL WRIGHT: Edmiston from red hot to freezing cold – Chris Cecil Wright sets out on his trek to the North Pole in aid of the Aqualung Trust.

MONDANGO NOMINATION: Our central agency sailing yacht Mondango has been nominated for the World Superyachts Award as the best sailing
yacht over 45 metres. For charter this summer, she was a winner from the day she was conceived.
In the space race, it’s easy to get more room by just adding more metres. These yachts create additional space by a broad beam and intelligent design. Built at Feadship,
Abeking & Rasmussen and Oceanco – three of Europe’s top shipyards – each one has distinct advantages. In the 50-60 metres category, Edmiston has three of the largest
volume yachts for sale. Extra space without extra length is a simple demonstration of good value. For further information about each of these yachts see pages 18-22.
