Michelle Phillips chose to study at Monash because she sawthe young program mirrored her passion or architecture. I wasimpressed by the ambition o the program. Being part o a newcourse is exciting because the sta are passionate and give us

    every opportunity to extend ourselves.

Architecture is a great course i you want to be challenged,i you want to be always learning and searching. The thingI enjoy the most is the contact with lecturers and tutors.Discussing your work with practising architects and acultymembers helps to clariy and rene your ideas.

In 2009 Michelle collaborated with ellow Architectural Designstudents to design and build an outdoor community shelter atthe Kinglake Temporary Village. The shelter, part o the studentsstudies in second year, made a tangible contribution to acommunity devastated by the Black Saturday bush res.

Michelle valued the opportunity to work with leading disaster-relie architects, Proessor Silvia Acosta and Adrienne Benz, whowere visiting lecturers rom the internationally renowned Rhode

Island School o Design. It was the rst time that I got to see adesign rom rst ideas and sketches to nished built product which was exciting!
