Monarch Butterfly

Characteristics
• The Monarch Butterfly is
an insect. And it is cold
blooded.
• They also have orange
and black wings.
• And their wings are bright.
• The egg is small.
Habitat
• They live in North
America.
• They migrate to
Mexico for the winter.
• Also they live in fields
and meadows that
have milkweed.
Food• They eat milkweed.
• Monarchs get nectar from
flowers.
• They can drink the juices
from oranges, bananas and
watermelons.
• They can eat red clover,
alfalfa, and the wild carrot
plant.
Fun Facts
• Monarch wings flap slower then
other butterflies.
• The males have a dot on it’s
back and females don’t.
• The larva sheds it’s skin 5
times.
• A monarch was spotted 11,00
feet high
• It is one of the few insects that
can fly across the Atlantic
Ocean.
