A Message From The Office

Important App Upgrade - Please ReadIt has come to our attention that many parents have not been recently receiving app notifications.
Yesterday we sent home a list of trouble shooting information however, after speaking with the developer again, they have put a further fix in place and shortly (hopefully today) there will be only one version available on the apple store for apple phones and one version available on google play for andriod users.
The developers are removing the other version, however you can check you are downloading the right version by tapping on the Mona Vale logo and scrolling down to see the latest update is dated November 2016. If you have experienced problems recently, please un-install your app and re-install the updated version.
If you are still receiving push notifications, you must be one of the lucky few who are on the updated version and therefore don’t need to re-install! Please make sure you say yes to push notifications.
We apologise for the inconvenience there are approximately 700 users on the version which has not been updated and we are hoping this will solve the issues experienced. Don’t forget the website is constantly updated with any notes/information that have been going out on a daily basis.

Have you purchased your Mona Vale School backpack?
All students must have a MVPS backpack in 2017.
Only Year 6 2017 are allowed to have a black back pack if they don’t have a MVPS backpack.
All bags MUST have a bag tag attached at ALL times.
2017 Text And Exercise BooksK-6 2017 are now able to order text and exercise books for 2017. Please order this week to ensure a smooth transition into 2017. An app message has been sent. Please go to [email protected] and then to the Notes and Forms tab, and to Planning 2017 to see the notes with instructions.
Text books will be ordered online from Dominie and exercise books ordered online from Five Senses.
ALL BOOKS WILL BE DELIVERED TO SCHOOL, ready for your child to start working at the beginning of 2017. Please order promptly to ensure a smooth delivery of books to all students.

Year 5 2016 – Applications For Academic Extension Class High School 2018
Students wishing to apply for Academic Extension Classes at Barrenjoey, Narrabeen and Pittwater High Schools in 2018.

Students are eligible for placement at their local designated high school. Applications are to be forwarded with payment to Narrabeen Sports High (see note for details). Applications close 24th February 2017.

Mini-COGE Certificate PresentationDuring a staff event in the last week of school, these teachers will be presented with their mini-COGE certificate for completing sixteen hours of professional learning (at the weekends!) on differentiation techniques for all children and identification and planning strategies for gifted students.

Congratulations to all our PSSA Summer Teams
PSSA Summer TeamsLast Friday was the first grand final match in all my time here at Mona Vale. Weather was kind to us during the season and time enabled us to hold finals. Mona Vale were well represented: Senior Girls Cricket, Senior Boys Cricket, Junior Boys Tag, Junior Girls Tag and Junior Boys TBall. All teams played sensationally with our Junior Girls Tag team victorious and taking home the patch!!!!
I was so proud of all our teams this season – your skills are incredible and your sportsmanship is sublime. A huge congratulations also goes to all our expert coaches- Miss Kelsall, Mr Johnson, Mr Johnston, Mrs Bryce, Miss Legg and Mr Farrah. We thank you for giving up all of your time to coach our fantastic kids.

The last week of Term.
Thanks to all those canteen volunteers who this year, as every year, have made working in the canteen an absolute pleasure.
This year we are losing some terrific Year 6 mums who have been volunteering in the canteen for a number of years. They will be missed terribly.
Thank you so much to Emily, Di, Michelle G, Michelle T, Linda, Leanne, Kylie J and everyone who is leaving MV this year. We will miss you.
Important Dates:Wednesday 14TH December will be the last day for lunch orders. The canteen will be open for recess and ice blocks on Thursday 15th December and will be CLOSED on Friday 16TH December.

MONA VALE PUBLIC SCHOOL THE ROLE OF THE CLASS PARENT AND EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
Thank you for considering the role of Class Parent. The following is a brief role statement of what is involved. Please do not hesitate to contact the school should you require any further clarification. Class Parent Overview: Class parents play an important role in the school. They facilitate communication between students, parents and class teachers and assist in the co-ordination of helpers for school events. Role competencies:
Willingness to co-ordinate and organise class activities.
Willingness to co-ordinate helpers and liaise with P&C for school events or initiatives.
Willingness to have fun! Role description:
The role of Class Parent varies according to the individual needs of each class, however it usually includes the following:
Organising a voluntary class contact list of parent names & details and communicating with parents
should the class teacher require it.
Co-ordinating parent support to the class teacher. (eg: helping to find reading helpers, etc)
Co-ordinating social activities for the class if desired – (eg: picnics, holiday activities, end-of-year functions)
Attending any Class Parent meetings. Please note: When communicating with parents, blind copy or BCC, should be used in all emails used for class distribution. If you are unsure of how to use this function, our school office staff can assist. If you are interested in being the Class Parent, please complete the slip below and return to your child’s teacher. If multiple slips are returned, the name will be drawn out of a hat. In some cases, the role may

The Big Band Bash is the “fun” end of year performance for ALL of our band students.
This event provides the opportunity to farewell our Year 6 band members as we wish them well in their high school endeavours.
The Big Band Bash Details:
Held At: Pittwater High School Hall Date: Thursday, 8th December Time: Students are to arrive at 5:30pm
We please ask that parents and families are seated and ready for a 6.00pm start.
Attire: Students are invited to wear Christmas theme clothing and/or head-wear.
Pizza and refreshments will be provided for the band students
