MENS MARCH FOR LIFE

The annual Men’s March for Life on Father’s Day weekend for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe takes place next

weekend. This is our opportunity to show that men are proud to be fathers and are ready and willing to stand

up for those most defenseless among us. The event begins Friday, June 14th at 8:00 p.m. with a candlelight

vigil at Our Lady of Fatima Church and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament to be followed by Eucharistic

Adoration throughout the night. At 7:30 a.m. the next morning, Saturday, June 15th, there will be a celebration

of Mass to be followed by a prayer procession down Lomas concluding at Dr. Curtis Boyd’s abortion clinic.

Please join in whatever part of the event you can participate and invite a friend!

TEACHERS MOVING ON

I want to thank our Annunciation School teachers who are retiring or moving on as

school closes this year: the kindergarten teacher Mrs. Sullivan, the 1st grade teachers Mrs.

Smelker and Mrs. Samaniego, the 4th grade teacher Mrs. Pelletier, the 5th grade teacher

Mrs. Mohler, the librarian Mrs. Parr, the Spanish teacher Mrs. Macias, and the 8th grader

math teacher Mrs. Urenda. We are deeply grateful for their many years of fine service to

our families and to our school. May God bless them all and guide their days ahead under

the mantle of Our Lady of the Annunciation!

MODESTY IN CHURCH

As the warm weather is upon us, it is time to remember that God’s house is a place of worship

and not a beach club. When you come into the sanctuary of the church, prepare yourself with

modest dress and silent wonder as you present yourself to Jesus Christ the Lord. Whatever would

distract someone else from worship and prayer is unworthy of a Christian coming to meet the

Lord. Please show your reverence for God and your respect for your neighbor by clothing your-

self with dignity. Jesus wants to see more virtue and less skin!

Reflection: What Pope Francis Wants You to Know: “A Poor Church for the Poor” – The Pope will want to be a tribune for

the concerns of the world’s poor: the inequalities of globalized economy, the carnage of war and violence, environmental degra-

dation, and the perception that international affairs are stacked against the interests of smaller and poorer nations. The future

Pope said during a gathering of Latin American bishops in 2007: “The unjust distribution of goods persists, creating a situation of

social sin that cries out to heaven and limits the possibilities of a fuller life for so many of our brothers.” -John Allen, Jr. (Senior

Vatican analyst for CNN and senior correspondent for the National Catholic Reporter)

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA)

Renee Pagan-Coordinator The RCIA Inquiry stage will begin on August 20, 2013 here in Annunciation, at 7:00-9:00PM in St.

Bakhita Hall. Please register with Mary Agnes at 299-9111. In the Inquiry stage, you’re just finding

out about Jesus, Christianity, and the Catholic Church. As an inquirer, you’re not yet sure exactly

what you think about the Catholic Church. The RCIA team will walk you through getting to know Christ, prayer, the

Catholic Church and how Christians live. That’s the only way you can make an informed decision about entering the

Catholic Church. Pass this on to people you know who are interested to become a Catholic.

Morning Offering to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world,

in reparation for my sins, for the intentions of all the apostles of prayer, and in particular for the intentions of our Holy Father for this month.

MINISTRYMINISTRY

Training Session for New Communion Ministers: Monday, June 10, 6:45 pm, in the church.

Training Session for New & Current Greeters: Monday, June 17, 6:45 pm, in the church.

Most of us attend Mass at the same time each week. Why not step forward and serve the gathered assembly

at that Mass as a Liturgical Minister? More people are needed in these ministries at most of our weekend

liturgies. Our first Training Session, for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, is this Monday, June

10, at 6:45 pm, in the church. Greeters are badly needed at all our Masses; this Training Session will be next

Monday, June 17, at 6:45 pm, in the church. Those currently serving in this ministry are also encouraged to

attend; in light of recent events, the importance of this ministry has been highlighted.

Prayer to Saint Anthony Blessed be God in His Angels and in His Saints. O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and Charity for His creatures made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Miracles waited on your word, which you were ever ready to speak for those in trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, I implore of you to obtain for me (request). The answer to my prayer may require a miracle. Even so, you are the Saint of Miracles. O gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the Sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms, and the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours. Amen.

Youth Confirmation Insights to Saints • I chose Saint Thomas because of his excellence in his studies and his pursuance of his goals. He is one of

the greatest models for inspiring students and youth in today’s society. He inspires me to study and do my

best in school. • I chose Saint Rita because she never lost her faith and courage during difficult times. • Saint Maximilian Kolbe was a courageous man because he gave his life for a complete stranger. St. Maximilian was loyal to God because he never turned away from Him. I hope to be as courageous in living my faith. • Saint Augustine’s story sends a message of hope to me. There is no place dark enough to be beyond

God’s reach. Knowing this is a source of assurance in believing in God. • I chose Saint Nikolas because he is the patron saint of archers, broadcasters, fisherman, repentant thieves

and the falsely accused.
