MOLYTROP®

Dry lubricant liquid. Description: Without mineral oil content, for minimal lubrication.

Thixotropic characteristics- Through pressure the aggregate state changes from paste to liquid – suitable for lube pumps, only requires a pressure of 3 bar, proved for central lube facilities and distributors! Development on the laboratory scale through FFG and PROFACTOR.

Dry lubricant from MoS2, copolymer carrier with pigment affi-ne groups and stabilizers.

With MOLYTROP® dry lubricants can be used where the use and assembly of dry lubrication blocs is not pos-sible.

MOLYTROP® is also recommended at locations where dust, big wear, high temperatures or moisture dont allow loss lubrication by oil or grease, or where it is not permit-ted by regulation.

The minimal use of the lubricant, when using

MOLYTROP®, is avoiding pollution of the workspace, the facility or system.

Extremly extensive due to minimal lubrication.

Balancing out the roughness of surfaces.

In most installations a lubrication film of about 10-15µ is sufficiently generation stable dynamic friction (CF = co-efficient of friction 0,015).

The dry lubriation mixture is carrying the load, and by the movement the lubricant MoS2 is rolled into the surface.

Additional lubrication is necessary only for loss by the applied load.

Wir are offering 3 different kinds of wear protec-tion blocks:

1. Lubrication Blocks Type 10036 in various sizes (CF = coefficient of friction of 0,015) – for use as wear protection and where dry, continuous and maintenance free lubricati-on is required.

2. Friction Control Blocks Type 10035 (CD 0,6-1,0) for use to protect against wear but also the existing friction has to be kept up (drive rolls/wheels).

3. Dry Lubrication blocks Type HG045 (CF about 0,05) where it is to be dry lubricated and freedom of maintenan-ce, not wear protection is most important.

The metal mountings are equipped with constant pressure springs. Easy and economic application due to clamping devices.

These are the properties of Wear Protection Blocs:

The blocks are mounted in holding devices, and spring-loaded it is permanently pressed against the surface to be wear protected and lubricated (similar to the graphite contacts in electric motors), and a layer of about 10-15µ thickness is applied to that surface. This layer is both elas-tic and wear resistant at a high level. Due to the availability of different sizes of both blocks and holders the system can be adapted to most of widths and shapes of the different applications. Customized shapes and sizes are available to fit every thinkable application.

Material: Molybdene(IV)disulfide, graphite (microcristalline), bentonite, binders and alloying additives for generating an optimized CF (0,015 for lubrication blocks, 0,5 to 1,0 for friction blocks). ,

Properties: The applied parts are rolled into the surface of metal or plastic by pressure and so make up a highly loadable dry wear-protection layer of Molybdene, which is

dry and dut repellant.

non dripping and not migrating away.

working free of maintanance for long time.

continuosly and steadily lubricating.

weather resistant, blocks HG045 are water resistant.

resistant to high temperatures (300°C, blocks HG045 up to 1200°C

environmentally harmless (WGK 0)

The use of these wear protection blocks is recommended for applications with increased friction wear and where sti-cky and fatty lubricants cannot be used.

Our wear protection blocks have worked to the highest sa-tisfaction at all appliances where maintenance-free operati-on is desired and wear has to be avoided!

Virtues and properties:

elimination of slippage (type 10035) and up to 5-fold increased working life span owed to wear-reduction for rails and whells (all types).

no negative effects to the systems perforance. Possibility of increased performance is possible.

continuosly coating the metallic surfaces and not migra ting away.

does not absorb dust particles and other pollutants, which is of importance in environments with high loads of dust.

maintenance-free, only the consumed blocks have to be replaced with new ones from time to time.

no pollution of soil or water, nonflammable, environmen tally friendly.

The service life of the blocks is depending on so-me influences:

Original texture of the metallic surfaces (smooth surfaces need much less coating than rough and uneven surfaces from start).

distance travelled by the wheels (how many meters a day have to be recoated).

interaction of the machine parts (direction, vibrations, load).

quantity and kind of the materials in touch with the protective coating (while the coating is protecting the metallic surfaces, high amounts of hard dust particles are increasing the wear of the coating, which has to be completed by a faster use of the block).

operating hours, number of start and brake cycles, etc.

one can assume a faster wear of the blocks within the first half year of use.

usually the blocks will have to be replaced every 1 to 3 years of use.

Applications: Casters, slewing rings, suppportive and drive rollers, pres-

sure rollers at rotary kilns, dryers, mills, crane installatons

and rail supported transport systems including high-rack

warehouses, guide rollers at cable pulleys, wheels of loco-

motives and waggons, friction drives, chain drives, sliding

surfaces ...

The lubricant properties of MoS2 are based – similar to graphite – on their ability to act as a lubricant without

changing the metal surfaces due to their crystalline texture. MoS² belongs to the group of layer-lattice-crystals, which means that the atoms and ions are arranged in layers – mainly composed of only atoms or only ions with identical charge. Normally substances with layer-lattice-structures are much easier to split in one level.

MoS2, as a hexagonal layer-lattice, is arranged in levels which consist only of molybdenum atoms and others

which comprise only sulphur atoms. The sulphurmolybdenum bond is strong, whereas the sulphur-sulphur bond is weaker. The lamellae slide over each other similar as paper sheets which are put on top of one another. The substances’ inner slipping property is of essential importance regarding the lubricant property.
