Needs and Background
• NIRT Application - Nanoscale Interdisciplinary Research Team
• 15 undergraduate BME students• Nano-scale autonomous device• No academic credit
What is Molecular Motor?
• Chemical energy into Mechanical work - Nanometer scale
• Examples of Motors: - Kinesin - Myosin - Dynein
Objective and Materials
• Develop a platform of Nano devices in an environment
• Hood• Flagella• Petri dish• Plates• Autoclave• Flask
• Incubator• Agar media• Cells
Procedure
• Weigh out the agar
• Autoclave the solution
• Let the flask cool down
• Pour into Petri Dishes
• Spread the algae
• Leave it for couple of days
Results
• Not enough experiments
• More information
• More analysis
• Expected: Get the bacteria with flagella in it.
