Prof Abu Hilal is a the chair of the department of Surgery and the head of HPB surgery at the Poliambulanza Hospital- Brescia and is a Professor of Surgery at the University of Southampton.

Professor Abu Hilal has a huge interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques He has published more than 200 papers and abstracts and more than 100 oral presentations, in addition to a number of book chapters.

Ugo Boggi, MD, FEBS, is Professor of Surgery at the University of Pisa (Italy), where he heads the Division of the General and Transplant Surgery, and Adjunct Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh (USA).

Dr. Boggi is a world-renowned, gastrointestinal and transplant surgeon with a strong expertise in the surgical treatment of hepato-biliary and pancreatic cancers as well as in pancreas and renal transplantation. Dr. Boggi practices state-of-the-art robotic surgery having performed the first world robotic pancreas transplant and the first world robotic distal selective spleno-renal shunt for the treatment of severe portal hypertension. Dr. Boggi has one of the world’s largest experiences in robotic pancreatic surgery, including robotic pancreatoduodenectomy, and in extended pancreatectomies with resection of peripancreatic arteries.

Dr. Boggi published over 360 peer-reviewed articles, over 60 book chapters, and 2 books. He is member of the Editorial Board of six international scientific journals and servers as a reviewer for over forty international scientific journals. Dr. Boggi is member of National and International Surgical Societies, is deputy chair of the Innovation & Development Committee of the E-AHPBA and President of The Italian Transplant Society. Dr. Boggi organized the first world consensus conference on pancreas transplantation.

Dr Chan is currently the Deputy Director for Liver Transplant Center at Queen Mary Hospital. He graduated from King’s College London Medical School, UK in 2001, and attained Fellowship in the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh and the College of Surgeons, Hong Kong in 2008. He became Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 2018 and attained Master of Surgery in 2019.

Dr Chan is specialized in the surgical management of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by applying Living Donor Liver Transplantation (LDLT) or Complex Liver Resection. During the challenging times of COVID, he made great efforts to maintain the liver transplant service in Hong Kong while remaining cognizant for surgical innovation. He performed the first LDLT with right posterior section graft and total right hepatic vein reconstruction in Hong Kong on 24th March 2020. Prior to this, he also successfully performed the first auxiliary LDLT in 2013, and the first dual graft LDLT in 2017 in Hong Kong. Beyond the border, he collaborated with the University of Malaya, Malaysia since 2017 in an outreach project by performing LDLT in Kuala Lumpur to help startup their own LDLT program, the first of its kind in Malaysia for 20 years. Furthermore, he pioneered the use of ALPPS (Associating Liver Partition and Portal Vein Ligation for Staged Hepatectomy) procedure for patients with insufficient liver remnant contemplating for major liver resection of HCC and by now, he has accumulated and reported one of the largest single-center experience for HCC in the literature.

Dr Chan is dedicated to serve for the international surgical community. He is the Chairman of the Vanguard Committee, International Liver Transplant Society; Former President of the Asian Surgical Association; Scientific Committee Member of International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association; Scientific Committee Member of Asia Pacific Primary Liver Cancer Expert Association; Member of the acute-on-chronic liver failure consortium, Asia-Pacific Association of Study of Liver as well as the Principal Investigator for the State Key Laboratory for Liver Research at the University of Hong Kong.

In terms of scholarly achievement, Dr Chan was awarded the Dr. Abdol and Mrs. Joan Islami International Guest Scholars by the American College of Surgeons (the first named award in the College’s international guest scholarship program), and was a member of the team to receive the Faculty Outstanding Research Output Award in 2018. He was also awarded the GB Ong Travelling Fellowship in 2014 for his visit to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in USA, and achieved the Best Research Output in the Department of Surgery for two consecutive years from 2013-14. He has published 6 book chapters and over 170 articles in peer-reviewed journals including Lancet Oncology, Annals of Surgery and Liver Transplantation. He has received a number of grants including four GRF grants and two industry support grants, as well as delivery of various invited and plenary lectures in locoregional and international meetings.

Dr. Rawisak Chanwat graduated from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand in 1998 where he also did his residency in General Surgery. He is currently Clinical Associate Professor of the University of Hong Kong.Dr. Cheung is a world-renowned leading experts in the field of laparoscopic liver resection for primary liver cancer. Marco Del Chiaro, MD, PhD, FACS is the Division Chief of Surgical Oncology, Director of the Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary program, and Professor of Surgery at the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine. He came from the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden, where he was the Head of the Pancreatic Surgery Unit from August of 2018.

Dr. Del Chiaro studied in Italy where he received his medical degree at University of Pisa in 1997. During this time, he completed his surgical residency program in 2003 and his PhD in 2010.

As an International recognized leader in the field of pancreatic surgery and pancreatic diseases, he has been an invited speaker at conferences around the world. Dr. Del Chiaro’s major area of research interest are in the area of pancreatic cancer and cystic tumors of the pancreas. He founded the European Study Group on Cystic Tumors of the Pancreas in 2011 and organized the European Evidence Based Guidelines for Cystic Tumors of the Pancreas. He is also the founder of the Italian Registry for Familial Pancreatic Cancer and of the Young Pancreatologist Platform in Europe.

Dr. Del Chiaro is a well-known surgeon for the treatment of locally advanced pancreatic cancer. He has received several research grants for clinical and translational research in pancreatic diseases. As a pioneer in developing new diagnostic modality for cystic tumors, he has written of pancreatic specialty areas such as metabolomics and bacterial DNA analysis.

Having served on the editorial boards of several journals in the field of surgery, Dr. Del Chiaro has authored or co-authored more than 140 peer reviewed scientific papers and authors of books and book’s chapters. He is currently on the board of several scientific societies, including American College of Surgeons (ACS), United European Gastroenterology (UEG), European Pancreatic Club (EPC), and the International Association of Pancreatology (IAP).

Dr. Geller is the Richard L. Simmons Professor of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He serves as Chief of the Division of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, and Director of the UPMC Liver Cancer Center. Clinically, he specializes in laparoscopic liver resection surgery. His research interests include molecular mechanisms of hepatic ischemia/ reperfusion injury, and liver cancer cell biology. Dr. Geller is a member of many professional societies including the Society of University Surgeons (President 2009-2010), ASA, ASTS, SSO, AHPBA, IHPBA, SSAT, and ASCI. Professor Goh is presently Director of Solid Organ Transplant at the Singhealth-Duke National University of Singapore Transplant center. He underwent fellowship training in both HPB surgery at Singapore General Hospital and the American Society of Transplant Surgeons accredited abdominal organ transplant (liver, kidney, pancreas) fellowship program at the Mayo Clinic Rochester. He is a highly-experienced subspecialty surgeon having performed over 1200 major HPB/transplant surgeries since completing surgical training and become a board-certified surgeon. Dr Goh is presently one of the key-developers and leaders of minimally-invasive HPB surgery in Southeast Asia. He is also a pioneer of the application of robotic HPB surgery in the region and has performed over 500 major laparoscopic/robotic HPB/transplant surgeries including over 100 robotic procedures as the principal surgeon.

Dr Goh has a Master of Science in research and is active in both clinical and translational research. He has held over SGD 50M in grant funding and has authored/co-authored over 270 PubMed-indexed articles. He has a H-index of 47 and his work has been cited over 6000 times. He has delivered close to 200 scientific presentations at international scientific meetings and has received several international awards in recognition of his contributions to the field.

Jin He, MD, PhD, FACS works at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is a surgical oncologist specializing in the treatment of cancers and diseases of the liver, gallbladder, biliary system, pancreas, and stomach. He performs open as well as minimally invasive (robotic and laparoscopic) surgery, including the Whipple procedure.

Dr. He is actively involved in clinical research to improve patient outcomes. His research focuses on personalized treatment through stratifying pancreatic tumors on their molecular features. He holds several patents in anti-cancer vascular targeting agents and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and lectured internationally. Prof. Rong Liu is the Director of Faculty of Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery, Chinese PLA General Hospital. Working in the front line of the clinical and scientific research for 36 years. Prof. Liu established the integrated HPB invasive surgical system and innovated various types of HPB surgeries. Prof. Liu has performed more than 10000 cases of HPB surgery, including over 5000 cases of complex minimally invasive surgery. Up to now, more than 4000 cases of robotic HPB surgery had been performed by his team, ranking the first in terms of the total number in the world. Prof. Liu held “Beijing International Minimally Invasive Surgery Forum” every year, which attracted experts from various developed countries and regions to visit and learn.

As an oncological surgeon-scientist, I was trained in Cancer Biology for studying pancreatic cancer and translational medicine. Based on more than 15 years of clinical experience in treating HBP cancer patients, now I am developing molecular diagnostics which is clinically usable to identify distinct prognostic and predictive subgroups to particular treatment within the identical clinical stage. The overarching goal of my research is to identify potential diagnostic and therapeutic targets and to develop clinical relevant prognostic or predictive markers as well as valid targets for novel therapeutics. To this end, I have been collaborating with a number of researchers in diverse discipline: cell biology, molecular biology, pathology and engineering etc.Based on these platforms, I orchestrate novel cancer therapeutics development specially for therapy refractory pancreatic cancers.

Professor Shailesh V. Shrikhande is the Deputy Director of Tata Memorial Hospital and the Head of Division of Cancer Surgery and also Chief of GI and HPB (Gastro Intestinal Hepato Pancreato Biliary Surgical Service). He received specialist training in Pancreatic Research and Pancreatic Surgery at the University of Bern, Switzerland and the University of Heidelberg, Germany. He was the first Asian to be awarded the Kenneth Warren Fellowship of the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHPBA) in 2005. He was awarded Doctor of Medicine (magna cum laude) by the University of Heidelberg for his original clinical and basic research on chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer in 2006.

He is now a full Professor of Surgical Oncology since 2010 at Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai. He is one of the few surgeons worldwide to have successfully performed over 1000 Whipple operations. Prof. Shrikhande continues to deliver teaching lectures as an invited guest speaker and faculty in India and abroad for the past 18 years. He has conducted over 50 Live Operative teaching demonstrations of complex pancreatic surgeries across the length and breadth of India especially in tier 2 and tier 3 cities in an effort to make these surgeries cheaper and more accessible to the common man in a standardized fashion. He has been invited as a visiting Professor to 8 prestigious institutions in Europe, the far east, USA and delivered 20 Keynote lectures and Orations. Prof. Shrikhande has been the Chief Editor of 9 educational books in Oncology, has authored 71 book chapters and has 260 scientific publications in leading international journals. His scientific impact is recognized worldwide given his h index of 31.

To promote awareness on pancreat ic tumors in Asia , he founded the websi te www.pancreaticcancerindia.com both for professionals and lay people. He is the Chairman of the Indian Council Medical Research (ICMR) committee for developing guidelines for management of Pancreatic and Gastric Cancer in India. He is the Associate Editor of Langenbecks Archives of Surgery and also on editorial boards of leading international journals of GI and HPB surgery. He is the President of the Indian Chapter of IHPBA. He is the Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association and treasurer of the Asia Pacific Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association. In recognition of his work on pancreatic cancer and digestive cancer surgery in India, he was awarded Honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2014 (FRCS – Ad Eundem).

He will be awarded Honorary Fellowship of American Surgical Association (ASA) in Seattle in April 2021. He is the first HPB specialist and only the second Indian to receive this prestigious honour.

In addition to his surgical and educational pursuits, he currently spearheads the Tata Memorial Centres expansion plan which shall comprise of a 550 bed state of the art hospital (60 percent poor patients would be treated at this referral centre), doctors and Nurses Quarters and even a Dharamshala for poor patients in Mumbai.

Prof. Kyung-Suk Suh is a Professor of Department of Surgery, Seoul National University College of Medicine.

Prof. Suh graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine with his medical degree in 1984 and completed his internship and residency in Department of Surgery at Seoul National University Hospital, receiving his diploma in General Surgery in 1989.

Since 1993, Prof. Suh held a number of professional positions at the Seoul National University Hospital in Seoul, including instructor, assistant Prof., associate Prof., Prof., chairman of Department of Surgery Seoul national university College of Medicine, Chief of Seoul National University Hospital Transplant Center and Director of Seoul National University Cancer Hospital.

Dr Tang is the Director of Minimal Access Surgery Training Centre (MASTC) at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, Hong Kong SAR, China. Dr Tang specializes in Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery and General Surgery. He is the first qualified Robotic General Surgeon and the pioneer of MAS Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery in Hong Kong. Dr Tang has accumulated more than 800 cases of robot-assisted hepatobiliary & pancreatic surgery / general surgery since 2009. He published extensively on MAS HBP surgery with more than 125 original publications in peer-reviewed journal / book chapter, and delivered more than 200 invited lectures on laparoscopic and robot-assisted surgery in local and international symposia He found the Hong Kong Society of Robotic Surgery in 2014 and he is also the Past President of Clinical Robotic Surgery Association (CRSA) and current President of Asia-Pacific Association of Robotic Surgeons (APARS).

Dr. Shin-E Wang was graduated from National Yang Ming University in 2002, and completed her surgical residency at Taipei Veterans General Hospital from 2002 to 2007. She is currently working as an associate professor, Chief of minimally Invasive Surgery and attending surgeon in the division of General Surgery, Taipei Veterans General Hospital and National Yang Ming University. Her major interests include minimal invasive surgery including robotic and laparoscopic surgery, pancreas surgery and pancreas transplant. Her pancreas team is very actively involved in minimal invasive surgery, especially robotic Whipple operation (more than 370 RPD cases) and pancreas transplant (more than 167 cases). She was the experts committee member in International Evidence-Based Guidelines for Minimally Invasive Pancreatic Resection 2019 (IG-MIPR 2019), held at Miami.

Anusak Yiengpruksawan, M.D. is currently an adjunct clinical professor in Department of Surgery, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University and a surgical consultant at the Capital Health Cancer Center, One Capital Way, Pennington, New Jersey, USA. Dr. Yieng graduated from Tohoku University School of Medicine in Japan and did his fellowships in gastrointestinal cancer surgery at Toranomon Hospital (Tokyo, Japan) and surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Prior to Thailand, he directed a surgical oncology and robotic surgery programs at the Valley Hospital in New Jersey, USA. He is one of the founding members of the Clinical Robotic Surgical Association (CRSA). He has written and edited book chapters, and presented in many international meetings on robotic surgery. Dr. Yieng was awarded an honorary fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand in 2014 for his contribution to Thai surgical community.

Dr. Yoo-Seok Yoon graduated from the Seoul National University College of Medicine in 1997. After that, he completed his surgical residency and fellowship training at the Seoul National University Hospital from 1998 to 2004. He is currently working as a professor in the department of surgery, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. His primary clinical interests include pancreatobiliary surgery, with a special interest in laparoscopic surgery including pancreatoduodenectomy, distal pancreatectomy, and various kinds of biliary surgery. His team is actively performing the laparoscopic HBP surgery and is known as one of leading groups in this field. He published approximately 180 articles related to HBP surgery in highly ranked international medical journals.
