Mohamed: My experience during the facebook revolution. My name is Mohamed Sadek. I am from Egypt. I am 12 years old and I am a student in Akhnaton American International School in Cairo. When the revolution started my father was out of the country for business, and it was the first time I felt the great responsibility for my family, to protect my mother and my two sisters! After the protestors were attacked by policemen in Tahrir Square some of them started to burn the police stations but before that happened all the policemen had opened the jails and let all the criminals escape to attack people and destroy our houses. The army tried to protect the houses but it was not enough! Thousand of thieves were freed from the prison and they could do whatever they want. Each neighborhood started to create some groups called Popular Committees to protect our houses during the nights. I live beside a very big international mall and it was attacked by thieves at 2 o’clock at night when there when there was no security. Many thieves started to attack houses and to destroy and rob everything inside. The Popular Committees prepared their weapons for any attack or emergency situation. My friends and I stayed in the street to protect our families during the night. I put my flag on the gate of our building and I sat down in front of my house protecting people for long hours for many days. Staying outside all night gave me the chance to meet so many neighbors that I never knew before, we chatted together and felt the same feelings of a free country.

Mohamed: My experience during the facebook revolution.

My name is Mohamed Sadek. I am from Egypt. I am 12 years old and I

am a student in Akhnaton American International School in Cairo.

When the revolution started my father was out of the country for

business, and it was the first time I felt the great responsibility for

my family, to protect my mother and my two sisters!

After the protestors were attacked by policemen in Tahrir Square

some of them started to burn the police stations but before that

happened all the policemen had opened the jails and let all the criminals

escape to attack people and destroy our houses. The army tried to

protect the houses but it was not enough! Thousand of thieves were

freed from the prison and they could do whatever they want. Each

neighborhood started to create some groups called Popular Committees

to protect our houses during the nights.

I live beside a very big international mall and it was attacked by

thieves at 2 o’clock at night when there when there was no security.

Many thieves started to attack houses and to destroy and rob

everything inside. The Popular Committees prepared their weapons for

any attack or emergency situation. My friends and I stayed in the

street to protect our families during the night.

I put my flag on the gate of our building and I sat down in front of my

house protecting people for long hours for many days.

Staying outside all night gave me the chance to meet so many neighbors

that I never knew before, we chatted together and felt the same

feelings of a free country.

My father came and I started to feel relax from the great

responsibility which was taking care of my sisters, my mother and my

home.

When Mubarak left the guide of the government I went to Tahrir

Square with my family to feel and live this great moment with all the

protagonist of this amazing revolution.

I was an incredible moment of JOY in Tahrir Square.

All Egyptians united to sing, dance, pray and greet one another. I

raised my flag up in the sky .For the first time I acted with dignity,

freedom and responsible for MY country

Now I raised my head up and feel proud because I AM Egyptian!!

It is a very successful revolution because it is built on Peace between

religions, Muslims or Christians, Rich and Poor people… They were all

equal and looking for one goal which was to remove the failure

system of Mubarak and live in a Peaceful country.

During this revolution I was proud to be Egyptian.

Whenever I think about the protestors in Tahrir Square I feel proud

of those great people. Most of them were l teenagers like me and I

said to myself

“These people whom I thought they could not say any word and could

not even change anything for the future, now they are changing the

history of my country!

Yes, all of us, the Facebook Generation, could change the future

and destroy the unfair system that causes suffering for many

years. Really I was very proud when I went to Tahrir Square!

Now, we have still a long way ahead of us to learn how to build

democracy, how to build day by day PEACE in this country. Still some

people are trying to kill the dream of peace and the success of this

great revolution. They used many ways to kill it and they are still

working on to reach their goal of destroying the dream of Egyptians.

The first step was to burn some of the churches in Egypt.

With these acts of vandalism they want to divide this great country.

My responsibility is to build this new country with my acts of Peace and

Love during my daily life…at school, at home, and in my neighborhood.

YES< PEACE BEGINS WITH ME….the peace depends on me, on my

every day effort.

The future of our country is in our hands, because we are the new

generation.

After cleaning the streets, with my friends I started to wash the

tanks in Tahrir Square, and plant some trees in my neighborhood.

We also put some signs in every street that says “sorry for

interrupting, we are building Egypt. Please don’t throw any paper on the

floor”.

I am creating some new ideas, for keeping up the success of the

revolution on the Face Book group with my friends and sharing them

with the armed forces. We hope the Egyptian revolution will give the

rights for everyone in Egypt.

I hope to work in NASA Discoveries when I grew up. I really want to

be an Egyptian scientist like Doctor Ahmed Zewaill, and to give to my

country new ideas.

We would like to invite everyone in the world to come and visit our

country for a tour or live here. We will be very happy to welcome you in

Egypt, the country of the pyramids.

By your prayers and by your support everything will become true day by

day. And this is why I want to thank all of you, peacemakers for

meeting here today!
