To Activate IP Module on Viewpoint Software Version 12

First install software Version 12 on PC or DVR with or without MDI Viewpoint capture board. After the software is installed, click on Start - All programs - DVR server and click on Create Client Key as below.

When IP licenses are purchased through MDI; a CD key is provided. Enter the CD key and Machine ID on the MDI website (www.mdisecure.com and go to Support – Product Registration). A license file will be sent to the registered email that will be activated in the Generate Machine ID client key. Copy the file on the PC with the software and click on the three dots button to find the license, and then click on the Activate button to activate the license for the IP module. After the license is activated, launch the program and enter setup to setup IP cameras.

IP Camera column This column will show the IP cameras that have been added to the system. To remove the camera, highlight the camera and click on the Remove button. (Diagram 1) Name field Click on the arrow down button to select the next camera to save as an IP camera, when all the fields have been entered, just click on the ADD button and it will be saved and the IP camera will be added to the IP Camera column on the left. (Diagram 1) Active You can disable the IP camera by unchecking this box; to make the IP camera active, just check this box. (Diagram 1) Is PTZ If the IP camera is PTZ, control the ptz by checking the Is PTZ box. (Diagram 1) IP Cam Number Only change the IP number if you have two IP cameras with the same IP address. (Diagram 1) (Advanced Users) Reconnect System will try to reconnect to IP camera if the camera is not detected, if box is checked. (Diagram 1) Retry This will retry to reconnect to the IP camera according to the (x) number of attempts entered. (Diagram 1) IP Address This box is where the IP address of the IP camera is entered. (Diagram 1) Http / RTP port This box is where the http / RTS ports for the IP camera are entered. (Diagram 1) Username This box is the username of the IP camera for viewpoint to log-in to the IP camera. (Diagram 1) Password This box is the password of the IP camera for viewpoint to log-in to the IP camera. (Diagram 1) IPCam vender This is the type of IP camera - example Axis or Truen. (Diagram 1) Video Format This is the type of video format - NTSC or PAL. (Diagram 1) Video Size This is the video size that is set in the IP Camera (notes: have to match with IP camera setting) (Diagram 1) Stream Type This box is the steam type according to the IP camera type (example: H264, MPEG4, or JPEG). (Diagram 1)

Recording schedule (CONT) Enable continuous recording and the time it starts and ends (daily or weekly) by checking the CONT box, and set the schedule. (Diagram 1) VMD Enable motion detection for the IP camera by checking this box. The motion setting is setup in the IP camera. (Diagram 1)

Requirement setting for IP Camera for the Viewpoint software GOV setting Length (Axis) or I-Frame Interval (Truen) for every IP cameras has to be set from 6 to 8 (structure: IP) (Example below for Axis and Truen cameras)

To setup motion for Axis IP camera Must have VMD box checked in IP camera setup in Viewpoint software (Diagram 1) Must configure Motion Detection under event Config (example below)

Must go to System Options – Advanced – Plain Config and Select image from group of parameters to modify, and must have the following boxes checked below:

To setup motion for Truen IP camera

Must have VMD box checked in IP camera setup in Viewpoint software Must configure Motion Detection in setup Go to setup in the Truen camera and turn on Use Motion Detection and masked your settings for motion (example below)

The Name of the IP cameras can be changed by going to Camera setup, and then rename the cameras that are selected to be IP cameras (virtual port or analog cameras that been disable).

Recommended System Requirements for IP cameras only Intel Core 2 Quad CPU 2.4 or higher 2 GB RAM or more 1024x768 SVGA Screen Resolutions VGA if used w/ 512GB of memory Windows: XP (To install you must be logged with administrator rights)
