Market situation:
There are many special vehicles with engine power 100 kW requiring CVT
transmissions.
The challenges are low production numbers and specific installation
requirements in the different vehicles.
Target:
To provide a CVT transmission module for
niche applications.
The module shall be dimensioned for
vehicle power ranges up to 100kW.
The available VTP transmission 1RH2F for
transporters defines the base for the
development of the basic module.

VTP transmission is a continuously variable transmission based on the
principle of hydrostatic mechanical powersplit with
pure hydrostatic drive at low speeds
one, two or three powersplit ranges
Key element is a twin planetary unit at transmission output.
Use of axial piston hydros as compact units or as separate components.
Shifting from pure hydrostatic gear in first gear reverse and first gear
forward is done at synchronous speeds.
Shifting from first to second gear forward
is done with friction clutches by simultaneously
compensating the shifting gap with the hydro.

Advantages VTP transmission
Shifting from hydrostatic gear to powersplit gears at
synchronous speeds.
No interruption of drawbar pull.
Increased gear ratio in powersplit gears due to double planetary
unit.
Just two powersplit gears required for achieving sufficient
maximum speed with reasonable hydros.
High efficiency due to small hydros and low speed differences in
open friction clutches even at high travel speeds.
Robust, cost effective transmission design.
Simplified transmission versions available by modular
transmission concept.

Conclusion
VTP transmission is available in 1RH2F configuration with
back-to-back hydro integrated. Test results show best
performance in function and efficiency.
This transmission defines the base for a VTP module with
external hydropump and hydromotor.
The VTP module comprehends all mechanical and electronic
parts and components required to achieve CVT function. This
provides maximum configuration flexibility for a wide range of
applications and vehicles.
Due to its modular construction and the use of standard
variators, the transmission can be adapted with affordable
investment to meet specific conditions regarding installation or
application.
