MODERN VIDYA NIKETAN
ART AND CRAFT COMPETITION
To bring out the Picasso , the school th
organised an art and craft competition on 20 April 2017
for class VI students. The topic was” Class Board Border
Design”. All the students presented wonderful borders
made from simple materials. They used many different art
techniques to make the borders and each and every student
had a unique and amazing presentation. The judges were
surprised at the students’ artistic capability. The
competition was held in the hope of making the students
realize their talents and the teachers were pleased to see
the results.

POSTER MAKING COMPETITIONthOn 20 April 2017, a Poster Making Competition was held for
the students of class VII in order to encourage their
creative skills and provide them a platform to showcase their
artistic talent. The students worked in pairs, which helped
improve their cooperation skills. Students did a great job by
putting their thoughts and ideas on paper in a very creative
way. The judges were amazed by the effort put in by the
students, which made the ranking extremely difficult. The
enthusiasm that the children had was very palpable. Each
and every poster presented the students skill and was a
treat to the eyes. Their efforts and initiative was
appreciated by everyone.
TRIP TO MUSSOORIE
Trips and excursions are a part of school education. It
rejuvenates, refreshes and relaxes the minds and makes
learning fun . The students of classes VI and VII were taken th thto Mussoorie from 13 to 17 May, duly escorted by the
teachers. The children enjoyed their trekking to Kempty
falls, rope way to Gunhill Top, a stop over to old Shiva temple
and shopping at Mall road. They returned entertained,
enlightened and enriched with memories to cherish forever.
WORLD HEALTH DAY
The first Assembly of the session 2017-18 was about the World Health Day . It was conducted by class VI
th–A and VI – B on 7 April 2017. The students updated the audience with the latest news. After a speech on Health Day, the students conducted a quiz which was very interesting and most of the students were attentive as louder sound of answers was audible in the auditorium. The assembly ended with a wonderful speech delivered by co-ordinator Ma'am Preeti Sahay.
HOUSE MEET
There are 4 houses in our school namely – Lily, Lotus, Daffodil and
Rose. All the students of VI and VII attended the House Meet.
Enthusiastic candidates of class VII were invited to be selected
for the post of captain of the house. They were encouraged and
asked to express ideas about their plans and aspirations if given
an opportunity to be the house captain. Students took turns on
the stage to speak their hearts out in front of other students and
teachers. Their speeches were assessed by a panel of teachers
who evaluated the speeches on various criteria and chose
students for further rounds that were written round, public
speaking and interview round. Students were very excited and
RABINDRA NATH TAGORE JAYANTIthOn 5 May , a special assembly was conducted by the students of
Class 7 I. to commemorate ' Rabindra Nath Tagore Jayanti'. The
students presented the 'thought of the day' and the latest news.
Then, some information on Rabindra Nath Tagore who was
popularly known as Gurudev was shared. He was a Bengali
polymath who reshaped Bengali Literature and music as well as
Indian art with contextual modernism . An assembly on such a
great person could not have be complete with out his quotes. A
skit was performed where the audience was told about Rabindra
Nath Tagore who wrote National Anthem for three countries.
Then, a wonderful dance on the song ' Ekla Chalo Re' was
performed . It was one of the best dance performances seen till
date. After the assembly, the results of houseboards, dance
competition and class room cleanliness were announced and the
auditorium was filled with the sounds of claps. Rabindra Nath
Tagore was remembered for his great contribution by playing the
National Anthem.
BAISAKHI
Baisakhi is one of the most popular festivals celebrated in the
vibrant state of Punjab, to mark the harvest of Rabi crops. A
wonderful assembly was conducted by the students of VI C and D
. After the thought and news, an article was shared with the
audience about the importance of the festival for the farmers. A
wonderful song and a foot tapping dance number made the
audience clap and cheer loudly. The assembly ended with words of
wisdom by co- ordinator Ma'am, Preeti Sahay.
EARTH DAY
The Earth Day assembly started with a refreshing thought and the latest news. Some tips for healthy living and maintaining hygiene were given . The audience was made to realise the importance of cleanliness and how it can help to prevent certain diseases. A 'nukkad natak' was presented to encourage everyone to follow the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' and maintain cleanliness. A PPT was shown in which the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan song was played. The song was really mesmerizing. Students were enlightened and asked to join the
SOLO DANCE COMPETITION
It is said that dance is the hidden language of the soul of the body. With this innovative thought,
ththe school arranged a dance competition on 13 April 2017 for the children of class VI. The competition was organised to bring out the hidden talent of students and the school is proud to announce that the competition was a great success. The budding dancers came beautifully dressed and surprised us all by their energetic performances. The ability they displayed and the enthusiasm with which every move was presented was truly awe-inspiring. Each and every performance was a delight to watch. The judges were also very proud of the little dancers and were very pleased to announce the names of the winners. All the participants were congratulated for their breath- taking performances.
International Dance Day
thOn 28 April, on the occasion of International Dance Day, a special assembly was presented by the talented students of 6H and I. The assembly started with the ' thought of the day' and the latest news. A poem was presented after which the audience was given information about the importance of dance, why 'Dance Day' is celebrated and about the various dance forms such as classical, folk, contemporary, hip hop , bhangra etc. Then, an energetic dance performance was presented in which the children presented Indian , International and Contemporary dances. The assembly was really refreshing. All the students and teachers enjoyed it.
SOLO SINGING COMPETITION
It is said that music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent. Keeping this in mind, the school organised a Solo Singing
thcompetition on 13 April 2017 for the students of class VII. There was active participation from all the sections. The little singers sang beautiful songs. The atmosphere was full of melody and the change in the mood of the audience could be seen when the students sang a variety of songs in different genres. The judges were amazed by the performances and congratulated all the participants. All the participants and the audience made the competition a great success.
GK QUIZthON 4 May 2017, the school organised a GK quiz for the
students of Class VII. As it was the selection round , each student was given a multiple choice test and the top 3 students with best score from each class were selected. All the students came prepared for the quiz. It was based on current events. All the student scored good marks. The activity helped the students to learn about the events around them and also acquire general awareness.
MATHS QUIZ To awaken the mathematicians in the class 6students, our school
thorganised a Maths quiz on 27 April 2017. The students participated with great enthusiasm and zeal. It was very fascinating to watch the students answer the questions skillfully. We are proud to announce that the questions were tricky, but still the students answered them with confidence. The effort put in by each and every student was truly remarkable . The quiz helped all the children realize the importance of teamwork and cooperation. The quiz made maths fun for everyone and was a great opportunity to learn outside the walls of a classroom.

MOVIE MAKINGth
On 27 April 2017, the school organised a Movie Making activity for class VII . The students were expected to make a short two minute movie about their mother or a teacher. All the students were very excited about the activity . Each and every movie was very fascinating and was overflowing with love and affection that the students had for their teachers and mothers. The movies were a perfect blend of pictures and quotes. Many movies also had emotional songs playing in the background. The audience was spellbound by the heart -touching movies. This activity not only helped the children enhance their cyber skills, but also helped them realize the fascination and love in their hearts for their affectionate and caring mothers and teachers.
