Cultural  Models  in  Media  

Not  just  in  interviews  

Our  procedure  

1.  Use  our  knowledge  of  the  culture  to  read  (between  the  lines)  the  taken  for  granted  assumpEons  that  organize  the  representaEon.    (This  is  how  we  idenEfy  the  cultural  model.)  

2.  Make  these  cultural  models  explicit.    (This  is  how  we  make  the  model  visible  to  ourselves  and  others)  

3.  Find  other  evidence  on  the  locaEon  of  the  cultural  model  in  the  cogniEve  ecosystem.  (This  is  where  we  show  that  the  model  is  cultural.)
