TheModelClassroomDesignTeamisanimmersiveprofessionaldevelopmentopportunity,

allowingteacherstoreflectontheirownpracticeandapplysmallchangesdirectlyintheir

classroomoverthecourseoftheschoolyear.TheDesignTeamwillbefacilitatedbytheModel

ClassroomProgram,butteacherswillbethetruedesignersoftheexperienceastheydevelop

ideasfordirectimplementationwithintheclassroom-focusingonextendingtheircurrentwork.

Theemphasisison21stcenturyapproachestolearning:specificallystudent-centeredlearning

strategies,challenge-basedpractices,leveragingrealworldlearningopportunities,and sensible

technologyintegration.Participatingteacherswillbuildatoolboxofexamplesforimplementing

andaligningthisworkwiththeCommonCoreStateStandards.Mostimportantly,thisapproach

allowsteachers--andtheirstudents--tobecomeactivelyengagedinhands-on,meaningful

learningopportunities.|Objectives|

opportunities,bothsmall(dailyclassroompractices)andbig(challenge-basedproject) Documentbestpracticesof21stcenturylearningandteachingexamplesinorderto

supportCCSSimplementation(i.e.reading&writingacrossthecurriculum,

collaboration,student-centeredclassroom) Identifyengagementstrategiesforseamlessintegrationofdigitaltechnologiesand

socialmediathroughouttheentirelearningprocessincludingresearch,discussion,

constructivefeedback,production,editing,andshowcasing.

CCSSimplementation,21stcenturyteachingpractices,andtechnologyintegration.TheDesign

Teamwilldeterminethebestwaytosharethisinformation,workingwithModelClassroom

stafftobuildthisoverthecourseoftheprogram.Documentationofeachteachersreflective

processandimplementationofnewideasisessentialtothisprocess.WiththesupportofModel
