    TheModelClassroomDesignTeamisanimmersiveprofessionaldevelopmentopportunity,

    allowingteacherstoreflectontheirownpracticeandapplysmallchangesdirectlyintheir

    classroomoverthecourseoftheschoolyear.TheDesignTeamwillbefacilitatedbytheModel

    ClassroomProgram,butteacherswillbethetruedesignersoftheexperienceastheydevelop

    ideasfordirectimplementationwithintheclassroom-focusingonextendingtheircurrentwork.

    Theemphasisison21stcenturyapproachestolearning:specificallystudent-centeredlearning

    strategies,challenge-basedpractices,leveragingrealworldlearningopportunities,and sensible

    technologyintegration.Participatingteacherswillbuildatoolboxofexamplesforimplementing

    andaligningthisworkwiththeCommonCoreStateStandards.Mostimportantly,thisapproach

    allowsteachers--andtheirstudents--tobecomeactivelyengagedinhands-on,meaningful

    learningopportunities.|Objectives|

    |Structure|TheModelClassroomDesignTeamisablendedmodelthatcombinesonlinemeetings,atwo-

    dayintensiveworkshop(February8th-9

    meetings.Eachonlineorin-personsessionintroducesadesignassignmentwhichteacherswill

    developandimplementwithintheirclassroom,sharingtheirresultsintheonlinePLC.Pearson
