CARRIER MICROMAX CONTROLLER NOISE SUPPRESSION
Parts may be purchased from MCI Service Parts, Louisville, Kentucky or from MCIService Parts, Newcastle, Ontario.
Description:Effective with unit number 64085, MCI has made design changes to the condenser installation.Installing the retrofit kit below on E / J series coaches equipped with parcel rack A/C and a CARRIER condenser willeliminate the possibility of the following issues occurring:--- driver’s display locking up,--- temperature set point being stuck at 53 degrees F,--- inadvertent changing of the default controller parameter settings, and--- the following alarm codes: A11, A14, A17, A25, & A26.These potential issues are due to electrical noise feeding back into the Micromax Controller logic board from the parcelrack liquid line solenoid valve and the parcel rack evaporator blower motor relays.
Customers owning E4500 and J4500 coaches with Micromax parcel rack A/C and a CARRIER condensermanufacturedbetween the rangeof, and including, unit 62780 to 64085mayorder theNoiseSuppressionRetrofitKit ( p/n 16-04-1408 ) free of charge until December 31, 2007.
No labor allowance will be granted for this upgrade.Customers can obtain the Noise Suppression Retrofit Kit by contacting the MCI Fleet Support Technical Center at1-800-241-2947. The coach vehicle identification number ( VIN ) must be provided to obtain the Noise SuppressionRetrofit Kit ( one kit per VIN, prior to unit number 64085 ).This program will end on Dec. 31, 2007.This is a one-time offer, but the Noise Suppression Retrofit Kit can be purchased from MCI Service Parts afterJanuary 1, 2008.

Service Procedure:General notesRead this entire procedure before beginning work.Use Safe Shop Practices At All Times.1. Turn the main battery disconnect switch to the OFF position. Chock both sides of the tires.2. Open the roadside fuel tank filler door and locate the A/C condenser compartment release latch. Lift therelease latch to access the A/C condenser compartment. Close the roadside fuel tank filler door
3. Remove and retain the forward fan guard and mounting hardware ( Figure 1 ).
Figure 1.4. Locate solenoid #2 at the rear of the compartment ( Figure 2 ). Disconnect the harness plug at the end ofthe wires from solenoid #2 ( Figure 2 ).

6. Using tyraps, secure the new harness.

In the center parcel rack compartment, locate the parcel rack evaporator blower motor relay ( Figure 4 ).10. Carefully remove and discard existing parcel rack evaporator blowermotor relay. Orientate and install thenew parcel rack evaporator blowermotor relay ( p/n 7L-5-79 ). Repeat to the parcel rack evaporator blowermotor on the opposite side of the coach.
