4.1 GENERAL GUIDANCE

4.1.1 The prospectus is available on NED Universitywebsite at “www.neduet.edu.pk/admission“.

4.1.2 Candidates shall be required to apply online foradmission:

a) They will be required to get the print-out ofApplication Form, sign it and submit along withother documents as mentioned in 4.1.4 at thetime of submission of original documents.

b) Application processing fee of Rs. 3,500/- is requiredto be paid in designated branches of banks.

c) Candidates may apply under more than onecategory through the same online admissionprocess. Admission categories have beenspecified in Chapter 5.

d) Candidates will be required to upload thescanned copy of their HSC Mark Sheet / IBCCEquivalency Certificate on the Admission Portalof the University.

4.1.3 Applications received in one category shall not betransferred to another category.

4.1.4 All such candidates whose name appeared in meritlist and are called for admission should submit twosets of following documents along with the originals:

a) Domicile of Sindh Provinceb) Secondary School Certificate and Marks

Certificatec) H.S.C. Marks Sheet or equivalent documentd) Equivalence Certificate from IBCC for foreign

examinations, if applicablee) Hafiz-e-Quran Certificate, if applicablef) Migration Certificate in case of having passed

HSC examination from a Board other thanKarachi Board.

4.1.5 Candidates for admission under following categoriesare required to submit documents as mentionedbelow in addition to those mentioned in Para 4.1.4:-

a) R-6 i.e., Resident of Rural Areas of Karachi, shouldsubmit original School Leaving Certificate.

b) SF-9(a) i.e., Real Sons / Daughters of ProfessionalEngineers of Sindh, should submit copy ofEngineering Degree of the parent and proof ofvalid registration with Pakistan Engineering Council.

c) SF-9(b) i.e., Real Sons / Daughters of ProfessionalArchitects & Planners, should submit copy of

Architecture & Planners Degree of the parent andproof of valid registration with Pakistan Councilof Architects and Town Planners (PCATP)

d) R-9 i.e., Outstanding Sportsmen, should submitsports testimonials as mentioned in Para R-9(iv)3in Chapter 5.

e) Candidates having passed Cambridge HigherSchool Certificate or General Certificate ofEducation (‘A’ Level) Examination or equivalentexamination must submit relevant documentto establish their date of birth.

4.1.6 Application Form, all fee and documents attachedwith the application form shall not be returnable.

4.1.7 Incomplete applications shall not be considered.

4.1.8 The complete online application alongwith proofof payment of processing fee must reach to theAdmission Office of the University not later than1400 hours on the date notified for the submissionof Admission Form by the University in the press& Website. Any application received after this dateor found deficient in any respect will be summarilyrejected. Any certificate or matter in addition tothe specified requirement shall be treated asirrelevant and discarded.

4.2 ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS

4.2.1 Applicant should be domiciled in Sindh Province,except for reserved categories.

4.2.2 He/She must have passed either Higher SchoolExamination (HSC) from any authorised Board ofEducation in Pakistan or an equivalent ForeignExamination recognized as such by the Universityand should fulfill the following conditions:

a) The year of passing the examination heldshould not be earlier than the three yearsimmediately prior to submission of application.

b) i) Each applicant should have obtained atleast 60% marks in aggregate.

ii) Candidates having obtained at least 55% marksin aggregate are eligible to apply for admissionin all BS programmes except in CS&IT.

c) i) For admission in any undergraduateProgramme, subjects examined at the HSClevel must include Pre- Engineering subjectsof Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

ii) Any applicant who has passed HSC orequivalent Examination with subjects ofMathematics, Physics, and Computer Scienceshall however be considered for admissiononly in BE Electronic, Telecommunication,Computer Systems, Software Engineeringprogrammes and BS in Computer Scienceand Information Technology, ManagementSciences, Development Studies, EnglishLinguistic and Computational Finance.However, applicants who have passed theirHSC or equivalent examination withMathematics, Statistics and ComputerScience will be considered for admissiononly in BS Management Sciences, EnglishLinguistic and Development Studies.

iii) Any applicant who has passed HSC Commerceor equivalent examination shall be consideredfor admission in BS Management Sciences,English Linguistic and Development Studies only.

iv) Any applicant who has passed HSC Arts orequivalent examination shall be consideredfor admission in BS English Linguistics andDevelopment Studies only.

NOTE: Admission to such candidates [as mentionedin Para 4.2.2.c(ii), (iii) & (iv)] shall only beoffered in above disciplines subject toavailability of seats in these disciplines. Suchcandidates, if admitted, shall however, notto be considered for Change of Disciplineafter First Year.

d) Any applicant who has passed HSC orequivalent Examination with Pre-Medicalsubjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology shallhowever be considered for admission onlyagainst allocated seats in Food Engineering,Bio-Medical Engineering, English Linguistic andDevelopment Studies, if otherwise eligible.

Note: i) An applicant who has passed HSC Part I fromone Board of Examinations and HSC Part IIfrom any other Board of Examinations shallnot be considered for admission.

ii) No student, already enrolled in this University,can be considered for admission again.

4.2.3 An applicant should have either passed Pre-admissionEntry Test of this University with at least 50% marks,OR have secured at least 50% marks in EducationTesting Council (ETC) of HEC OR have scored at least

800 in SAT-I and also secured at least 1500 in SAT-IIwith subjects of Physics / Statistics, Chemistry/Computer Science and Mathematics / Biology.(Applicants with Commerce / Arts background willhave SAT/ETC scores in the relevant subjects asnotified by the University separately).

4.2.4 Any such nominee applying under category R-11(a)or R-11(b) or R-12(a) or R-12(b) or R-12(c) or R-12(d)or R-12(e) or R-13(a) or R-13(b) or 13(c) or 13(d) mayproduce documentary evidence of having passed Pre-Admission Entry Test conducted by any university /authority acceptable as such by this University.

4.3 EQUIVALENCE OF FOREIGN EXAMINATIONS

4.3.1 An applicant who has passed A-Level or any two-yearPre-University Examination at 11th and 12th gradesor 12th and 13th / OAC Grades (or similarExaminations) with subjects of Physics/Statistics,Chemistry/ Computer Science and Mathematics (orBiology for Food Engineering, Bio-Medical Engineering,Development Studies and English Liguistics only) (orCommerce for BS Management Sciences, EnglishLinguistics and Development Studies) (or Arts for BSEnglish Linguistics and Development Studies) mustsubmit an Equivalence Certificate (obtained fromInter-Board Committee of Chairmen) along withhis/her Application Form for admission.

4.4 DETERMINATION OF MERIT POSITION

4.4.1 The overall merit in respect of candidates foradmission shall be determined on the basis of marksobtained in the qualifying examination, HSC(Pre-Engineering), HSC(Computer Science), HSC(Pre-Medical), HSC(Commerce), HSC(Arts) or EquivalentForeign Examination as the case may be.

4.4.2 For applicants who have passed their qualifyingexamination in 2014 or in 2015 or in 2016 their meritpositions for the purpose of admission shall bedetermined after deduction of 10 marks from the totalobtained in their respective qualifying examinations.The same deduction shall apply in case of improvement.(Including applicants who have taken improvementexamination in the same calendar year as that of theHSC / qualifying examinations).

4.4.3 In case of tie for merit position in the selection foradmission, the tie shall be resolved by the followingcriteria:

a) Aggregate marks obtained in NED UniversityPre-Admission Entry Test shall be the criterionfor resolving the merit.

b) Any further tie shall be resolved by consideringthe following criteria:

i) For applicants with Pre-Engineering / Pre-Medical/Computer Science: marks obtainedin sections of Mathematics (or Biology asthe case may be), then Physics/Statisticsand then Chemistry/ Computer Science ofNED University Pre-Admission Entry Test.

ii) For applicants with Commerce: marksobtained in sections of Accounting, thenEconomics and then Business Mathematicsof NED University Pre-Admission Entry Test

iii) For applicants with Arts: marks obtainedin sections of English (Combination ofVocabulary & Grammar and ReadingComprehension) and then GeneralKnowledge and then Mathematics(General) of NED University Pre-AdmissionEntry Test.

4.5 MARKS FOR HAFIZ-E-QUR’AN

Any applicant who is Hafiz-e-Quran shall have 20marks added to the marks obtained by thecandidate. He/She shall have to provide the originalsanad of Hafiz-e-Quran from Wafaq-ul-Madaris andbe prepared to appear and qualify in a test asnotified by the University.

4.6 REJECTION OF APPLICATION

4.6.1 The Vice Chancellor of the University will becompetent to reject any application and tocancel without assigning any reason.

4.6.2 The application shall be rejected summarily incase the applicant is found guilty of anysuppression or misrepresentation of material factsat any stage. The Vice Chancellor can furtherdebar him from seeking admission in the Universityand its affiliated colleges.

4.7 DISPLAY OF MERIT LIST

The Merit list for each category under Regularand Self Finance schemes will be notified and displayedon the University Website.
