range is the GeckoFlex™ rame, which is

designed or small production settings,

mobile environments, and proessional

audio video applications.

The GeckoFlex system is a fexible,

cost-eective modular system built

around a compact robust 2 RU rame.

It can be used to build inrastructures

that can handle the complete range

o modern broadcast signals with

just one enclosure type. The rame

supports everything rom audio to video

signals, standard- to high-denition (SD

to HD) ormats, and copper to ber

inrastructures.

Highly Serviceable

The GeckoFlex system is also the

most serviceable system available. Its

modules, dual power supplies, ans,

network interace card and reerence

distribution circuits can all be swapped

out rom the ront o the rame. In act,

not only are the network interace cards

swappable, but the IP address and the

rame’s identity remain with the rame,

not the card.

Because HD modules and most other

modules provide industry-standard

SNMP monitoring o signal ormats and

conditions—as well as the module’s

operation, identication, and status—

you can easily integrate a GeckoFlex

rame into broadcast and IT monitoring

schemes with an optional network

interace card.

Reerence Distribution Buses

The dual reerence distribution buses

o the GeckoFlex rame allow you to

share reerence signals within the

rame (Figure 1). Unlike conventional

systems, the reerence inputs are still

available on individual cards and you can

swap out reerence circuits rom the

ront o the rame to service them. The

distributed reerence can accept bi-level,

tri-level, and AES audio sync inputs

and eed all modules requiring a similar

reerence—saving on additional analog

video distribution modules, rames, and

the power dissipation associated with an

old-ashioned reerence system.

Fiber Ready

A unique eature o the GeckoFlex

platorm is a ber-ready system that

enables you to upgrade all SD/HD

dual-rate modules to ber inputs or

outputs. These highly compact inputs

and outputs, combined with our ber-

ready philosophy, makes these upgrades

incredibly space-ecient: two ber

connections t in the equivalent space o

one BNC connector.

Calculating Power Consumption

To decide whether a particular set o

modules will t within a rame that

does not have an cooling, simply add

the rated power consumptions o the

modules to be mounted in the rame.

These power values can be ound on

the latest versions o the module’s

data sheets. Please note that you do

not include the power needed by the

network card, ans or other assemblies,

just the modules.

I the total power required by these

modules is less than the power rating

o the rame then it can support your

application.

It it critical not to exceed the overall

environment ratings or the rame. I

you have any doubt or questions, please
