Highly Serviceable The GeckoFlex system is also the most serviceable system available. Its modules, dual power supplies, ans, network interace card and reerence distribution circuits can all be swapped out rom the ront o the rame. In act, not only are the net work interace cards swappable, but the IP address and the rame’ s identity remain with t he rame, not the card. Because HD modules and most other modules provide industry-standard SNMP monitoring o signal ormats and conditions—as well as the module’s operation, identication, and status— you can easily integrate a GeckoFlex rame into broadcast and IT monitoring schemes with an optional network interace card. Reerence Distribution Buses The dual reerence distribution buses o the G eck oFlex rame allow you to share reerence signals within the rame (Figure 1). Unlike conventional systems, the reerence inputs are still available on individual cards and you can swap out reerence circuits rom the ront o the rame to ser vice them. enables you to upgrade all SD/HD

dual-rate modules to ber inputs or

outputs. These highly compact inputs

and outputs, combined with our ber-

ready philosophy, makes these upgrades

incredibly space-ecient: two ber

connections t in the equivalent space o

one BNC connector.

Calculating Power Consumption

To decide whether a particular set o

modules will t within a rame that

does not have an cooling, simply add

the rated power consumptions o the

modules to be mounted in the rame.

These power values can be ound on

the latest versions o the module’s

data sheets. Please note that you do

not include the power needed by the

network card, ans or other assemblies,

just the modules.

I the total power required by these

modules is less than the power rating

o the rame then it can support your

application.

It it critical not to exceed the overall

environment ratings or the rame. I
