ZEPPELIN Mission Mobility

… mobility will always serve our cause, Your Majesty".

The ZEPPELIN Mission Mobility began with the rise of the dirigibles or steerable airships over 100 years ago. Since then, Mission Mobility has lost none of its fascination regarding the utilization of mobility to provide advancements in the development of helpful systems.

For more than 50 years, ZEPPELIN MOBILE SYSTEME GMBH has focused its concentration on the technical/physical mobility of work and protection shelters. These shelters are used in and around regions that are diffi cult to access or where there is a shortage of supplies and medical care - or often even both.

Over a 100 years of experience in mobility andover 50 years of experience in mobile medical care.

Mobile medicine of ZEPPELIN in 1950

This visionary promise was givento the German Emperor Wilhelm IIby Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin

in 1893.

7

ZEPPELIN Mission Mobility distinguishes between two products: Swift-access-mobility and relocation mobility. The “swift-access-mobility” version is technically and logistically designed to ensure that pre-manufactured units can swiftly be brought to locations for set-up and operation.

The “relocation mobility” version ensures that numerous relocations can take place, and that set-up and dismantling can be per-formed under any geographical conditions.

ZEPPELIN Mission Mobility works closely together with top suppliers in order to facilitate the technical advancement of the various mobilization functions.

ZEPPELIN Mission Mobility integrates itself in given transport systems and utilizes global logistic structures, while continuously working on their further development.

ZEPPELIN System Architecture

The ZEPPELIN System Architecture complies with the cubistic design language, which is proven to be the optimal building shape for both man and technology. Mobility is achieved, among other things, through compatibility to the systemic container logistics and through the addition of proven textile structures.

The main purpose of the 20' ZEPPELIN-Shelter® is to serve as a work and protection shelter, creating environmental conditions which can otherwise only be realized in fi xed buildings.

13

Not all deployment conditions are as extreme as those covered by BMQ. Therefore, analogous to varying deployment conditions, a variety of other products have been developed in the BPQ and BSQ grades.

BPQ – BEST PREMIUM QUALITY

The premium segment offers a range of lightweight mobile systems, which follow the ZEPPELIN tradition of ensuring minimum weight and maximum stability.

Trailer-based medical practices and trailer clinics, as well as mobile hospital and ambulance systems for civil use, are the unmatched products in this

quality segment. BPQ demonstrates its complete superiority in the weight balance.

BSQ – BEST STANDARD QUALITY

This design quality is mainly requested for operations in which swift-access-mobility is required.

A continuously operative facility, such as a children's hospital or a fi rst-aid station, must be made available as quickly as possible.

Other typical applications are quarantine and sanitary facilities for epidemic control, or even material storage and water-conditioning stations.

Please ask for the BPQ and BSQ catalogues.

ZEPPELIN System Service

System Training

Well-trained operating personnel for the shelter and medical technology ensure the full operational performance of the mobile system. Training and briefi ng on the product is begun as soon as, or even before a ZEPPELIN-Shelter® is delivered.Training measures include set up and dismantling, starting up, infrastructure operation, troubleshooting, corrective action and storage.Repeated training can be performed either regularly or as required.

In coordination with and under the responsibility of ZMS, training courses are also provided to operating staff by all of the partners involved in the realization of both integrated and bought-in technologies.

System Servicing

Experience has shown that ZEPPELIN-Shelter® components/parts rarely need to be replaced. However, should a spare part be required, ZMS can usually deliver it in short time within ex factory for a minimum period of 20 years after the initial start-up.

System Maintenance

Professional maintenance of the complete ZEPPELIN-Shelter® system ensures that its service life can be increased up to 100 %. Specially tailored maintenance contracts take all types of impact and wear cases into account, from operation-safe upkeep to complete reconditioning after wear-intensive usage.

Page 15: MOBILE MEDICARE SYSTEMS - zeppelin-mobile.de · STANAG 2895 (extreme climatic conditions) and AECTP-200, Category 230. In addition to this, ZEPPELIN-Shelter

15

Service agreements can also include the continuous monitoring of the medical technology and the subsystems, including, for instance, the replacement of an outdated system component. ZEPPELIN-Shelter® systems are often in use for 30 years and more, assuming regular maintenance is not neglected. Even if customers have well-trained technicians at their disposal, a ZEPPELIN system check is recommended every two years.

Overhaul and Repairs

For the ZEPPELIN-Shelter®, ZMS offers both standardized repairs and factory overhauls based either on the ZMS quality management or to customer requirements.

The respective work to be performed is determined by the status record drawn up by ZMS or by customer requirements, and include both overhaul work and repairs on the shelter cell, such as:

- Repair or replacement of defective wall elements- Repair of mechanical damage- Replacement or repair of doors, windows and openings- Replacement of fi ttings- Partial or complete coating.

The repair, replacement or upgrading of installations and assemblies is also possible, including:

- Electrical installation and lighting system- Air conditioning and heating technology- Furnishings and installed components/equipment- Communication technology.

ZEPPELIN MOBILE SYSTEME and system service go hand in hand.

ZEPPELIN Mobile Hospital Systems

The highly fl exible and complex medical care systems are based on the modular ZEPPELIN-Shelter® assemblies. Swiftly and safely deployable, wherever primary clinical care is needed.

The capacity and medical equipment of the mobile hospitals is confi gured individually, depending on customer requirements and medicinal necessity – based on the standard sizes for 40, 50, 100 and 200 patient beds.

The basis of the hospitals is the 20’ ZEPPELIN-Shelter®, which is used as the medical treatment room. The ZEPPELIN-Shelter® offer the working environment of a stationary hospital.

The individual modules are connected by means of passages and thus linked to a hygienic, self-suffi cient system.

The equipment is specifi cally tailored to meet the high demands of modern medicine.

Page 17: MOBILE MEDICARE SYSTEMS - zeppelin-mobile.de · STANAG 2895 (extreme climatic conditions) and AECTP-200, Category 230. In addition to this, ZEPPELIN-Shelter

17

The shelters are supplemented by frame structured or infl atable tents for patient accommodation, triage or catering, as well as mobile infrastructure systems.

The product partners for the medical system integrations are selected on the basis of their experience and innovative products. One of the prerequisites for selection is the provision of a global service network and the availability of spare parts.

Optionally, ZMS also supplies the mobile hospital systems with NBC protection equipment, either as quarantine hospitals or in “VIP” design with extensive additional convenience features.

Disposal

ZMS offers two compact systems to ensure safe disposal of solid medical and clinical waste materials. Both systems are characterized by high reliability and safe technology.

ZMS Waste Incineration

The waste incineration systems in the ZEPPELIN-Shelter® can be swiftly and fl exibly deployed to regions in which safe clinical waste disposal is otherwise not possible. The systems are designed for the incineration of medical and clinical waste, but are also suitable for the incineration of solid waste, such as cardboard, plastic, paper, wood, rubber, textiles or food residue.

The incinerators are loaded manually, with a continuous infeed of the respective waste material.

The design is compact, simple and effi cient, and facilitates discontinuous operation. Depending on the design, the system's incineration capacity lies between 75 kg and 135 kg of solid waste per hour.

The high incineration temperature(850 to 1,200º C) ensures thatdioxins, furans, viruses andbacteria are safely destroyed.

ZEPPELIN-Shelter® Logistic

An important aspect of a mobile medical care unit is a well developed and, by all means, reusable logistics and transport-securing concept. This applies to both the ZEPPELIN-Shelter® and to any type of equipment – and particularly for the highly sensitive medical devices.

The ZEPPELIN-Shelter® all have the standard outer dimensions of a 20’ ISO container. Two height dimensions are available, as specifi ed by ISO Standard 1C and 1CC. For this reason, ZEPPELIN-Shelter® can be safely transported with all conventional transport methods via land, water or air.

Contrary to the medical equipment used in stationary hospitals, which are usually not subject to dynamic loads, the equipment in a mobile system can be subject to extreme forces during transport.

Page 89: MOBILE MEDICARE SYSTEMS - zeppelin-mobile.de · STANAG 2895 (extreme climatic conditions) and AECTP-200, Category 230. In addition to this, ZEPPELIN-Shelter

89

Medical equipment in mobile systems must also be appropriately secured for each transport.

Therefore, an integral part of all ZMS MOBILE MEDICARE SYSTEMS is a logistics system that consequently focuses on safety and transport protection, guaranteeing customers the safe functioning of all components, from the fi rst to the fi nal mission.

In order to ensure safety during transport, the ZEPPELIN-Shelter® are appropriately designed and equipped, the equipment is securely and ergonomically loaded/lashed and reusable transport containers are used.

ZEPPELIN-Shelter® Handling

ZMS offers a wide range of accessories for shelter handling.Alternative tools, which do not necessarily require the use of heavy equipment, are available.

Thus, loading and unloading for truck transport is also possible with the use of hook-lift roll-off systems or with the aid of special lifting supports. These “light” hoists are especially used in conjunction with mobile clinics that have a higher relocation frequency than complex hospital systems, which sometimes remain at a certain location for several months.

The hoists are supplemented by the possibility of mounting special wheel-sets, which facilitate the maneuvering of the shelter once it has been lowered to the ground.

Available are also rigging rails for air transport, which are mounted directly to the shelter.

93

ZEPPELIN-Shelter® Load securing

The medical shelter equipment is usually loaded and transported completely within the shelter in which it is used.

Special transport securing devices are especially developed for securing large equipment. Smaller devices are packed in insulated transport boxes, which are designed to accommodate the respective devices, and then securely stowed within the shelter.

Tents are stowed together with large modules, tent A/C systems, equipment for power and water supply, as well as the smaller boxed devices, and are stowed in transport containers that are specially designed for this purpose.

Tent hospitals without shelters or containers are packed in special, re-usable transport boxes. Attention is given to ensure that all of the equipment can be transported and set up without the requirement of heavy gear.

The transport boxes are compatible for transport on so-called master pallets in cargo air transport.
